Chad Burkhardt has a diverse clientele that ranges from cutting-edge high-tech, start-up, and alternative-energy companies, to more traditional midstream, oil and gas, and offshore drilling and services clients. He has wide experience representing companies in a variety of transactions, such as venture capital financings and corporate finance/securities offerings, including initial public offerings. Mr. Burkhardt also handles restructurings, as well as mergers, acquisitions, and dispositions. Another important part of his practice focuses on SEC reporting and general securities compliance, in addition to governance and other corporate matters.

Jack Kinzie is partner in charge of the Dallas office of Baker Botts and chair of the bankruptcy and insolvency practice firmwide. In his practice, Mr. Kinzie represents a diverse range of institutional lenders, asset acquirers, creditors, debtors, officers and directors, and parents in virtually every aspect of complex chapter 11 cases, as well as out-of-court workouts. He has particular experience in prepackaged mass tort bankruptcies.

James A. Baker IV is a partner in the Washington office of Baker Botts. Mr. Baker?s practice is focused on a variety of international commercial and trade-related matters and commercial transactions, principally in the energy, telecommunications and financial services industries. In recent years his international representations include transactions in the Middle East, Central Asia, Europe and Russia, and many of those matters have involved negotiations between private concerns and government agencies or state enterprises. He presently represents the Azerbaijan International Operating Company in connection with its Main Export Pipeline project. Prior to joining Baker Botts, Mr. Baker served as counsel to the Majority Leader of the United States Senate, Senator Howard Baker (no relation). Mr. Baker graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science in economics and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. King worked as an engineer at Brown & Root. His work included service in Hungary as a controls engineer on the Logistical Civilian Augmentation Program (LOGCAP) contract, through which Brown & Root provided services to the United States military in its peacekeeping mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Sam Cooper is a trial partner in the Houston office of Baker Botts L.L.P. He has tried cases to a decision before juries, arbitrators, and judges. Mr. Cooper's practice focuses on business litigation and counseling, and he has substantial experience in the areas of securities, antitrust, and class action litigation. Mr. Cooper also represents companies and individuals under investigation by governmental entities and works for boards of directors conducting internal corporate investigations. Mr. Cooper's trial experience includes representation of plaintiffs and defendants in forums ranging from state court jury cases to proceedings before three-judge federal courts. Mr.

Scott Powers focuses on civil litigation, representing clients in a wide range of commercial disputes. Mr. Powers has defended clients in a variety of cases, including individual, derivative, and class action securities lawsuits; intellectual property matters; and matters involving common law claims such as fraud and breach of contract. Mr. Powers has also prosecuted cases for clients seeking affirmative relief, including cases involving property use restrictions, breach of contract claims, reinsurance disputes, and such intellectual property issues as trade secret misappropriation, trademark infringement, and cybersquatting. After graduating from law school, Mr. Powers served as a law clerk to the Honorable William Wayne Justice, Senior United States District Judge for the Western District of Texas.

Travis Thomas has extensive experience in the development and management of patent portfolios for both large, established public companies and small start-up ventures. He also has extensive experience in the litigation of patent and trade secret disputes, the evaluation of patent portfolios owned by potential acquisition targets, and the negotiation of technology licenses and other agreements involving intellectual property rights. Mr. Thomas has worked on patent and trade secret disputes and drafted and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications covering switching and routing systems, optical communication systems, wireless and mobile communication systems, speech encoding, passive RF communications systems, packet and circuit switched networks, IP telephony, analog and digital circuit design and fabrication, circuit verification, and SRAM design. His technological expertise also encompasses RFID systems, satellite communications and guidance systems, computational chemistry, Web search algorithms and engines, and software supporting Web applications, e-commerce, database management, workflow management, and supply-chain planning.

Aaron is an associate in the trial section in the Houston office of Baker Botts. His practice includes complex business litigation before federal and state courts and focuses on energy, pharmaceutical and toxic tort litigation. Prior to joining Baker Botts in 2006, Aaron was an associate at a large firm in Baltimore, Maryland, specializing in commercial and business litigation and white collar criminal defense. Aaron is actively involved in pro bono efforts. In 2007, Aaron was a recipient of the Judge Thomas Gibbs Gee Award, which Baker Botts gives annually to those of its attorneys who have engaged in outstanding pro bono service. He has served as a volunteer prosecutor for the City of Houston's City Attorney's Office, prosecuting Class C misdemeanors. He has also represented in an asylum case two young brothers from Central America who fled their home to avoid being forced into joining a brutal criminal gang.

Brett Mangrum works on a range of intellectual property matters, focusing primarily on patent prosecution and patent litigation. He prepares and prosecutes patent applications in a wide range of technologies, from telecommunications and software to electro-optical and mechanical devices. Mr. Mangrum has particular experience in MEMS technology and is a named inventor on several patents in this field.

Hal Murry is head of the antitrust practice in the Washington office of Baker Botts. He has substantial experience in antitrust, commercial, and other complex civil litigation, as well as government criminal investigations. He has been involved in litigating and settling such disputes and providing counsel to major corporations on related issues for more than 25 years.Mr. Murry has had extensive experience in advising and representing clients before the Federal Trade Commission, the United States Department of Justice, and other federal government regulatory departments and agencies. He has practiced extensively in federal and state courts throughout the country in civil proceedings and trials, as well as in federal administrative trials and in arbitrations. He has also counseled companies and individuals subject to criminal grand jury investigations, and is currently lead counsel in a number of pending investigations.Mr. Murry has represented clients in private and government antitrust cases involving allegations of price fixing, monopolization, and government challenges to proposed mergers. These cases have involved consumer products such as cereals and soft drinks, industrial and specialty chemicals, glass containers, and food products. He has also been responsible for a number of related internal corporate investigations involving antitrust and fraud claims.
