Founded in 1783 and headquartered in Dublin, Ireland, Bank of Ireland (NYSE: IRE (ADR): London: BKIR) is a financial services provider for consumers and businesses. The company offers checking and deposit services, overdrafts, term loans, mortgages, business and corporate lending, international asset financing, leasing, installment credit, and debt factoring, among other services. It has over 300 retail branches and over 1,000 ATMs in Ireland, Northern Ireland, and Britain. The company has annual revenue of about ?5.8 billion and employs about 17,000 people. In February 2006 the bank acquired a 71.5% interest in Guggenheim Alternative Asset Management ?153 million in cash.
