Dow Jones Description

The history of Baptist Hospital is one of healthy growth, community service and superior care. Over the years, we have established nursing schools pioneered technical advances in medicine and have grown to become a major medical center in Middle Tennessee. Through all these changes, our commitment to a ministry of caring has remained steadfast. Our history of service begins in 1918 when we were known as Nashville Protestant Hospital. We changed our name to Baptist Hospital in 1964, and by 1973 we had become one of the largest hospitals in the South, with 600 beds. In January 2002, Baptist Hospital joined Saint Thomas Health Service's a four-member healthcare ministry that also includes Hickman Community Hospital, Middle Tennessee Medical Center and Saint Thomas Hospital. Saint Thomas Health Services is Tennessee's largest not-for-profit health system and a member of Ascension Health, the largest Catholic and not-for-profit healthcare provider in the country.
