Barriere is a family-owned business, currently operated by the Wilson brothers, George, Peter, and Bert. The Wilson family has operated the company since the 1940s, when their grandfather, Gaines Wilson, bought a construction company in Kentucky. Road construction was the focus of the company for many years and the company soon became well known and trusted. During the 1950s and 1960s, Gaines Wilson came to own all or part of fifteen different paving and aggregate companies and operated four hot mix asphalt plants in the southeast.
