BB&T is a financial holding company. Co. conducts its operations primarily through its commercial bank subsidiary, Branch Banking and Trust Company, which provides a range of banking services to individuals and businesses, and provides loans and markets deposits to businesses and consumers. Co.'s operations also consist of several nonbank subsidiaries, which provide financial services products, including automobile lending, equipment financing, full-service securities brokerage, payroll processing, asset management and capital markets services. As of Dec 31 2007, Co. had total assets of $132.62 billion and total deposits of $86.77 billion.
