Board of Directors
Dan Kletter has more than 28 years of operating management, acquisition and director experience. Currently an independent consultant, from 1999 until 2001 he was with ING-BARINGS/ABN-AMRO, where he was Managing Director in the Industrial Manufacturing and Technology Group. Prior to this Mr. Kletter had a 33-year career with Ingersoll-Rand Company, where from 1994-1999 he was Corporate Vice President - Mergers, Acquisitions and Divestitures. While at Ingersoll-Rand, Mr. Kletter also held positions including President of the global Construction and Mining Group; General Manager - Portable Compressor Division; General Manager - Road Machinery Division, and others. Mr. Kletter was Chairman of the Construction Industry Manufacturers Association and an executive board member of the American Road and Transportation Builders Association and the International Road Federation. He was also a board member of the Road Information Program, New Jersey Alliance for Action, and is currently a board member of Power Curbers, Inc. and Bil-Jax, Inc. He received an MBA from Northwestern University and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
Ms. Zappala, currently an independent consultant, was, from 1995 to 2003, Senior Vice President, Treasurer and, from 1998 to 2003, Chief Financial Officer of Aspen Technology, Inc., then a $300 million publicly traded software and services company. While at Aspen Technology, Ms. Zappala helped complete successful public and private equity fundraising rounds totaling over $400 million, as well as more than a dozen acquisitions. Ms. Zappala also serves on the board of Amicas, Inc., a publicly traded software company, as well as another privately held company. Prior to Aspen Technology, from 1981 to 1993, she practiced public accounting as a CPA at Arthur Andersen & Co. Ms. Zappala's term of office expires in 2008. There are no family relationships among any of our directors or executive officers. Messrs. Adik, Smith, Socha and Fox and Ms. Zappala, representing a majority of our directors, are determined to be independent under the rules of the National Association for Securities Dealers. Our board holds regularly scheduled meetings at which only these independent directors are present.
Bill Capp has been Beacon Power President and CEO since December 2001. Prior to joining Beacon, Bill was the Telecommunications Group President of Bracknell Corporation, providing infrastructure for the telecommunications industry, with annual sales of $350 million and 30 regional offices in the U.S. and Canada. From 1997-2000, he served as President of York International's Northfield Division. From 1978-1997, Bill held numerous positions at Ingersoll-Rand. From 1992-1997, he was Vice President and General Manager of the Centrifugal Compressor Division, where he was responsible for over 700 employees. From 1989-1992, Bill was Vice President of Technology for The Torrington Company, a $900+ million manufacturer of bearings and precision components. Prior to joining Ingersoll-Rand, he worked for Ford's Truck Division in areas such as project engineering, systems analysis, and product planning. Bill received his B.S. degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Purdue University and his MBA and M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Michigan. He has also completed the Black Belt Training Program from the American Society for Quality.

Steve Adik served as Vice Chairman at NiSource Inc., (NYSE: NI), a Fortune 500 electric, natural gas and pipeline company, from December 2000 until his retirement in December 2003. He joined NiSource in 1987 as Vice President and General Manager, Corporate Support Group, and later held positions of Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. At NiSource, he helped grow the company's market capitalization from $600 million to the approximately $5.6 billion. Before joining the energy industry in 1983, Mr. Adik also had more than 20 years of operating and financial experience in the transportation industry. His industry affiliations have included the American Gas Association, Edison Electric Institute and the Midwest Gas Association. He is currently a member of the boards of NiSource, Inc., and the Chicago SouthShore and South Bend Railroad. He was also recently nominated to the board of North Western Corp, an electric and natural gas company serving Montana, South Dakota and Nebraska. Mr. Adik holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Stevens Institute of Technology, and an MBA degree in Finance from Northwestern University.
Virgil Rose has 38 years of experience in the electric utility industry in various consulting, engineering, system operation, and management capacities, including 27 years with Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E). Since 2004 he has been an independent consultant providing advisory services that include working with the US Department of Energy, California Energy Commission, California ISO, Bonneville Power Authority, National Labs, and west coast utilities. From 2001 to 2004, Mr. Rose was Senior Vice President and Director of Energy Delivery and Management at Nexant, an international energy industry consulting company. From 1998 to 2001, Mr. Rose was co-founder and president of Energy Information Technologies, a power meter development start-up. While at PG&E, Mr. Rose held various positions including Senior Vice President for Distribution, heading PG&E's largest business unit with over 15,000 employees and an annual budget of $800 million, and Senior Vice President for Electric Supply, managing one of PG&E's four utility business units with responsibility for power generation, high voltage transmission, power contracts, and system dispatch. Mr. Rose's professional affiliations include Past Chairman, US CIRED Committee, (International Electric Distribution); Senior Member, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE); and Member, Engineering Advisory Board, Fresno State University. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Fresno State University, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Santa Clara University, and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University.

Dave Eisenhaure founded Satcon Technology Corporation in 1985 and serves as President and Chief Executive Officer, subsequently, turned the Company public in 1992 (Nasdaq: SATC). Mr. Eisenhaure has over 30 years of experience in developing and marketing advanced mechanical and electrical components for power applications.
Mr. Eisenhaure has won numerous business development awards and has various patents in electromechanical, power systems, and control areas. Mr. Eisenhaure has also received the Small Business Administration National Tibbetts Award for outstanding contribution in the field of flywheel energy storage and the Discover Magazine Award for Technological Innovation for Automotive and Transportation in 1995, along with Francois Castaing of Chrysler Corporation for technological achievement in hybrid-electric vehicles.
Prior to founding the Corporation, Mr. Eisenhaure was associated with the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory, from 1974 to 1985, and with its predecessor, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Instrumentation Laboratory, from 1967 to 1974. Mr. Eisenhaure holds S.B., S.M. and an Engineer's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from M.I.T. Mr. Eisenhaure also serves on the Board of Directors of Implant Sciences Corporation.
Ned Weihman is currently a Consultant, and a Senior Advisor to the Natural Resources Group at Dresdner Kleinwort's New York office, the investment bank of Dresdner Bank AG and a member of the Allianz Group. He was a Managing Director at Dresdner and a predecessor firm, Wasserstein Perella, from 1995 to 2006, where he was engaged in the mergers and acquisitions business for the firm's natural resources and utility clients. From 1987 to 1994, Mr. Weihman was a Managing Director in the Energy Group at Chemical Bank. Mr. Weihman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Williams College and a Master's degree in Business Administration from Columbia University.
