Dan grew up on the Navajo Reservation in northern Arizona. At age nineteen, he was BYU's youngest graduate of 1992, completing a major in Urban Planning and two minors. He was a Hinckley Scholar (BYU's top undergraduate honor) and valedictory runner-up. In 1998, Dan received a JD from J. Reuben Clark Law School and an MOB (Business Administration) from the Marriott School of Management. The top student in his joint-degree program, he was on law review and moot court. Dan worked with the Utah Supreme Court, the U.S. Attorneys' Office, the Tenth and Seventh Federal Circuit Courts of Appeal, and law firms in Korea and Puerto Rico. After graduation, Dan worked for Senator Robert Bennett (Senate Banking Committee) in Washington, D.C. He completed a federal circuit-court judicial clerkship and became a commercial litigator in Silicon Valley for Skadden Arps. He also founded the Quaqua Society, a worldwide scholarship foundation. Dan is currently Legal Counsel for Beneficial Life Insurance Company, Inc.
