Dr. Bensinger has served as our medical advisor since October 2004. Dr. William Bensinger is Director of the Autologous Stem Cell Transplant Program at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle Wa. He is a Full Member at the Center and Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington, Seattle, Wa. The FHCRC has a world-wide reputation in the field of cancer therapy and specifically in the field of stem cell transplantation where it?s former director, Dr. E. Donnall Thomas was awarded the Nobel Prize for his work in hematopoetic cell transplantation. Dr Bensinger received his undergraduate and medical education at Northwestern University, Chicago, Ill. (1969-73) and interned at Washington University, St. Louis (1973-74). He worked for 2 years at the National Cancer Institute, Bethesda, Md. In the field of cancer virology (1974-76) before moving to the University of Washington for completion of internal medicine residency (1976-77) and completion of subspecialty training in medical oncology (1977-1980). In the field of both autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation, Dr. Bensinger has published numerous original manuscripts, reviews and book chapters. He has published more than 200 articles in refereed journals, books and monographs in the field of stem cell transplantation on the subjects of mobilization, collection and transplantation of autologous and allogeneic stem cells, especially as it relates to the treatment of multiple myeloma. Other publications include the use of CD34 selected stem cells and innovative transplant regimens. He holds several patents including one a co-inventor of the avidin-biotin bead selection system.

Steven E. Kahn, MB, ChB Metabolism, is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition at the University of Washington. Dr. Kahn has served on the editorial boards for Diabetes Care and the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism. He is a member of the board of directors of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and has served as Chair of the Scientific and Medical Meetings Oversight Committee of the ADA. He is also a member of The Endocrine Society and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes. His current research interests include, but are not limited to, the assessment of islet function and insulin action in states of normal and abnormal carbohydrate metabolism and the role of fat distribution on metabolic variables associated with diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Mark Frohlich, M.D., joined Dendreon in 2005 and was promoted to the position of senior vice president of clinical affairs and chief medical officer in 2007. He previously oversaw medical affairs at Xcyte Therapies. Prior to that was an assistant professor in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of California, San Francisco, where he specialized in urologic oncology and was active in laboratory, translational and clinical research. Dr. Frohlich received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School and did his post doctoral training in oncology at the University of California, San Francisco. He also has a B.S. from Yale in electrical engineering and economics.

Elected in 2007, Gael Tarleton is the third woman to serve as a Seattle Port Commissioner in the nearly 100-year history of this body. She brings more than 25 years of career experience as a national security expert, international business manager, and leader in the non-profit and university sectors. Tarleton is committed to leading public conversations about the opportunities and challenges of operating an international airport and seaport in urban neighborhoods. A working port brings living-wage jobs, diversified economic development, tourists and business travelers to Puget Sound. The Port also is a steward of the environment, and must exercise fiscal discipline and restraint while managing public assets on behalf of King County?s citizens. Since 2002, Tarleton has held senior positions at The National Bureau of Asian Research in Seattle and at the University of Washington. At UW?s College of Arts and Sciences and now in the Office of Global Affairs, Tarleton helps the faculty compete for public and private grants. From 1990 to 2002, Tarleton was a policy analyst and business manager at one of the nation?s largest employee-owned science and engineering firms where she led science and technology collaborations in Russia and Eastern Europe. From 1981 to 1990, she was an intelligence research analyst at the Defense Intelligence Agency, Washington, D.C., where she received a national intelligence community medal of achievement (1989). From 2000 to present, Tarleton has served as a volunteer Board member and former Board Chair for the Seattle-based Foundation for Russian-American Economic Cooperation. In 1996, she was the first representative of a foreign firm to speak at a joint session of the Russian Parliament in Moscow, Russia. She is co-founder of the Pacific Northwest chapter of Women in International Security and was a World Affairs Council Fellow. Tarleton received a B.S. cum laude from Georgetown University?s School of Foreign Service, concentrating in Russian Studies and earning an honors certificate in International Business Diplomacy. She holds a MA in Government and National Security Studies, also from Georgetown. Tarleton grew up on the North Shore of Boston, MA and now lives with her husband in Ballard.

Peter Senter joined Seattle Genetics in August 1998 and has served as Vice President, Chemistry since September 2002. In February 2009, Dr. Senter was recognized as the company’s first Distinguished Fellow. He leads Seattle Genetics’ chemistry department, which carries out research in antibody-drug conjugate technologies, including the development of potent drug payloads, novel linker systems, conjugation methodology and mechanism of action studies. Prior to joining the company, Dr. Senter was with Cytokine Networks, Inc., the Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceutical Research Institute and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School. Dr. Senter received a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois, and an A.B. in Biochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. He is the Senior Editor of Bioconjugate Chemistry and serves on the Editorial Board of four scientific journals. Dr. Senter is an Affiliate Professor of Bioengineering at the University of Washington. His research interests include targeted drug delivery, protein chemistry and biochemistry, and anti-cancer drug design. Dr. Senter has authored more than 100 scientific publications and holds more than 20 patents.

Dan put his BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington to use for Standard Oil in the mid 60's and earned an MBA from the University of Oregon before settling in and taking over for his father-in-law, Jack Kelly, in 1973. Dan's vision and guts transformed this local residential plumbing contractor to its current position as one of the largest specialty contractors in the country. In his role as chairman, Dan is committed to success through excellence and oversees JH Kelly's strategic direction. Dan's other passion is fish. Al Hirsch is currently engaged as the project manager for the Energy Management System project team supporting the development of the Texas Nodal Energy Management System. Hirsch concurrently serves as the managing director at CTARCo International in Washington state. Prior to his current engagements, Hirsch completed a major assignment directing the Contracts Management, Procurement, and Operations Group for a large multinational energy company. Hirsch began his career in avionics design and worldwide strategic defense satellite communications systems engineering. He was then appointed as the project director for the NATO Spread Spectrum Multiple Access/Time Division Multiple Access Satellite Communications Systems project which was installed and integrated into the military management structure of the thirteen NATO signatories. At completion, Hirsch was asked to lead the recovery of the NAVSTAR GPS Concept Validation and Demonstration Program to full scale development. Hirsch took this program through two major decision DSARC (Defense Systems Acquistion and Review Council) milestones, which resulted in the current GPS constellation and functionality being available for U.S. military, civilian and NATO use. He has managed joint ventures as well as large and small technology programs for both international and domestic government agencies and commercial businesses. Hirsch has served as COO and CFO to several start-up companies. An experienced instructor and thesis advisor, he holds a B.S.E.E. with honors and distinction from Iowa State University and a Master of Science in management from Pepperdine University. Additionally, he has completed graduate studies in management at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Hirsch also serves as an adjunct instructor for the Graduate School of Business at City University and for the University of Washington. He was awarded City Universitya s 2003 Presidenta s Distinguished Instructor Award for the Graduate School of Business. Hirsch has also recently completed his second appointment to the Iowa State Universitya s College of Engineering Executive in Residence Program. Hirsch lives in High Country in the Washington Cascades near Seattle, Washington. Dr. Fann is director of the psychiatry and psychology consultation service at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, where he is active in the clinical care of a diverse patient population and the training of psychiatrists and psychologists. David Enger has been a member of our board of directors since 1993 and served as Chairman of the Board from 2000 until August 2002. Mr. Enger served as Executive Vice President of Keeners Inc., one of the Northwest?s largest distributors of fresh foods, from 1992 until 2001. He also served as President of US Food Service- Seattle Division from 2001 through 2003. In 1990, Mr. Enger founded Business and Banking Institute, which engages in merger and acquisition activities and business and banking consulting and training. From 1980 to 1990, Mr. Enger served as a principal of Management Advisory Services, Inc., a business and banking consulting firm, which he co-founded in 1980. Dr. Leona Eggert co-developed (with Liela J. Nicholas) the RY curriculum [Reconnecting Youth: A Peer Group Approach to Building Life Skills, Bloomington, IN: Solution Tree, formerly, National Educational Services (2004)], now in its second edition. Dr. Eggert is the President and founder of the RY Co. and Professor Emeritus at the University of Washington. She holds a Ph.D. in Speech Communication, with a focus on interpersonal, small group, and organizational communication. Dr. Eggert has received extensive funding from The National Institute on Drug Abuse, The National Institute of Mental Health, The National Institute of Nursing Research, and the U.S. Department of Education to test various school-based prevention programs including Reconnecting Youth, and CAST [Coping And Support Training: A Road Map for Teen Groups, Seattle, WA: RY Publications (2003)], the suicide prevention intervention derived from RY. Dr. Eggert has worked extensively for more than twenty years with adolescents, their parents, and teachers in schools, community mental health centers, churches, and camping programs. She is a child/adolescent psychosocial nurse specialist, a certificated health educator and school nurse, and she consults regularly on the implementation and evaluation of Reconnecting Youth, CAST, and other prevention interventions. Dr. Eggert is the author of Anger Management for Youth: Stemming Aggression and Violence; the principle author of Reconnecting Youth: A Peer Group Approach to Building Life Skills, Coping and Support Training; A Road Map for Teen Groups, and The Youth Suicide Prevention Plan for Washington State; and has authored numerous journal articles and book chapters related to working with high-risk youth in their social contexts. She has presented nationally and internationally on these topics.

Patrick Feeney, PhD, is an Associate Professor and Chief of Audiology in the Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, at the University of Washington. He is the Director of Audiology at the University of Washington Medical Center Otolaryngology Clinic, where he also sees patients, conducts research, and serves as a preceptor for AuD students. Dr. Feeney also heads the Human Auditory Perception lab at the Virginia Merrill Bloedel Hearing Research Center where he conducts research in diagnostic audiology with a focus on the peripheral auditory system. He is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences at the University of Washington, where he teaches and mentors AuD and PhD students in their research endeavors. He works with an excellent team of audiologists at the University of Washington Medical Center. The team provides diagnostic and treatment services to a diverse group of patients in a tertiary referral setting, manages a well-baby and NICU hearing screening program, teaches Otolaryngology residents and AuD students, and engages in ongoing clinical trials with the Otology service. Dr. Feeney started his career in audiology as a clinician in several private practice and hospital settings before returning to school for the PhD to pursue his interest in research. He has been on the faculties of Ohio University and the Ohio State University, in addition to the University of Washington. His recent research has focused on the use of wideband power analysis to study middle-ear function. His service to the Academy has included work on a number of Academy committees, including Chair of the Research Committee and Chair of the AudiologyNOW! 2006 Program Committee, before being elected to the Board of Directors in 2006. Dr. Paul G. Ramsey is the chief executive officer (CEO) of UW Medicine, executive vice president of medical affairs and dean of the School of Medicine at the University of Washington. He graduated from Harvard College in 1971 with honors in biochemistry, and received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School in 1975. After completing residency training in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, he came to the University of Washington in 1978. He served as coordinator of student teaching for the Department of Medicine from 1982-1990 and was associate chair of the department from 1988-1990. He was appointed chair of the Department of Medicine in 1992, and became the first holder of the Robert G. Petersdorf Endowed Chair in Medicine in 1995. Ramsey served as chair of the Department of Medicine until June 1997, when he was appointed vice president for medical affairs and dean of the School of Medicine. In 2006, he was named CEO of UW Medicine, and executive vice president of medical affairs, in addition to continuing to serve as medical school dean. Ramsey has received the Distinguished Teacher Award from the University of Washington School of Medicine graduating class three times (1984,1986, and 1987). He received the Margaret Anderson Award from the University of Washington medical school graduating class of 1989 for exceptional concern for and support of medical students. Ramsey researches the development of methods to assess physicians' clinical competence. He has been the principal investigator on many research grants to assess physicians' clinical skills. He served as a Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation Faculty Scholar in General Internal Medicine for five years. In 1999 Ramsey received the John P. Hubbard Award from the National Board of Medical Examiners for his research contributions in the field of physician evaluation. He has served on many national committees, and is a member of several professional organizations. He is an elected member of the Association of American Physicians and of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences.

Ms. Yeh has received numerous awards and accolades for her exceptional artistry and compelling performances, She has earned recognition in many national and international competitions, including the Newport International Piano Competition, Chopin Foundation of the United States National Competition, the Olga Koussevitsky Competition, the Virgina Waring International Piano Competition, the Bergen Philharmonic Competition, the National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts Competition, the National Federation of Music Club's Young Artist Competition, and the Chinese-American Hennessey Cognac Music Competition. She has won first prizes at the Pacific International Piano Competition, the National Federation of Music Club's Biennial Student Awards Competition, and was the grand prize winner of the Allegro Music foundation/BAJ Classics competitions in New York. An active collaborative artist, Ms. Yeh has appeared at the Seattle Chamber Music Festival, performed as a guest artist with the Adirondack Ensemble in New York, and served as accompanist of the Harlem Boys' Choir. Her many chamber performances included unusual programming such as concerts featuring music for piano six hands at the Seattle Asian Art Museum. An avid performer and promoter of new music, Ms. Yeh is also the founder of the East-West Piano Arts Series at the University of Washington, which highlights the piano-related music of composers of Asian and Asian American descent and at the same time, presents diverse, fusion-style programming with composers ranging from Chen Yi and Wang Jian Zhong, to Faure and Chopin performed by artists from both the Eastern and Western cultures, effectly building audiences and bridging communities through music. The 2006-07 season included, among other notable new works, the American Premiere of the new piano quintet, "La Foce" by renowned Japanese American composer, Paul Chihara. In 2007-2008, her interest in the EastWest fusion theme will be expanding into a new non-profit and concert series in Seattle, sponsored by the National Association of Asian American Professionals, Seattle, Collaborative Artists EastWest, for which she is the artistic director. This series presents concerts of a wide variety of musicians and workshops for youth and a scholarship competition in 2008-2009. Ms. Yeh was accepted at age thirteen as a pupil of the renowned Hungarian pianist and pedagogue, Bela Siki, with whom she eventually completed her Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Washington, graduating with a Magna Cum Laude distinction. She then attended the Manhattan School of Music in New York City, where she received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 2003. Her teachers included the legendary pianist Byron Janis as well as the late Constance Keene, and Dr. Marc Silvermann. She has also worked privately with Ruth Laredo, Jacques Lagarde of L'ecole Normale a Alfred Cortot de Paris and Arnaldo Cohen at Indiana University. While at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music, she was consistently recognized for her excellence as one of its finest young pianists. She was the winner of the Graduation Concerto Competition, a winner in the Chopin Competition, the Miezynsluw Munz Piano Competition, and was awarded the Cohn award for excellence in chamber music. A devoted Artist-Teacher, Ms. Yeh teaches masterclasses at colleges and universities while maintaining a rigorous performing and teaching schedule across the United States and abroad. Christine Stickler brings to Water 1st a rich background in community organizing, program development, fundraising, event planning, and international relations. Christine is currently Director of The Pipeline Project at the University of Washington, a program which recruits, trains, and places undergraduate students in local and statewide K-12 schools as tutors, mentors, and researchers. Prior to coming to the University of Washington, Christine was the Founder and Executive Director of the Seattle Youth Involvement Network, where she developed and administered a city-wide youth advocacy program focused on youth development and community action. There she developed an annual event, Seattle Youth Involvement Day, involving 1000 youth and over 125 businesses and government agencies in dialogue. Christine has worked as an educator and educational consultant throughout the United States, Central America, and Europe. She has developed extensive educational resources around the areas of literacy, bilingual education, and the arts. Her special passion is working with writing and young people. In other moments of her life she is constantly creating things and is the co-author of Wild with a Glue Gun: Getting Together with Crafty Friends. Geoffrey Boers is Director of Choral Activities at the University of Washington in Seattle, where he conducts the UW Chamber Singers, the university?s premier ensemble of graduate and advanced singers. The Chamber Singers performs nationally and internationally, most recently having returned from Hungary for a concert tour. They will perform Monteverdi?s 1610 Vespers in the Spring of 2008. He also teaches graduate choral conducting and choral pedagogy, and serves as faculty advisor to over twenty active graduate students. He is the recipient of the University of Washington?s prestigious Royalty Research Foundation Grant, which allowed him to travel to the Baltic region and to establish the UW Baltic Choral Music Library, the first of its kind in the United States. Geoffrey maintains an active conducting, teaching, workshop and clinic schedule. Recent engagements have taken him to mainland China, Thailand, Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall, and Kennedy Center, where he serves as Artistic Director for the Washington D.C. Choral Festival. He especially enjoys working with conductors and their choirs with focus on building communication through gesture and expressivity, and building community within the ensemble. Geoffrey is also exploring the idea spirare, or the connection between breath and spirit, in disciplines as far reaching as Yoga , Tai Chi and world faith systems. This study is leading to evolving thoughts of gesture as it relates to breath, evocation of sound, and touching the heart. In addition to his position at the UW, Boers is the conductor of the Tacoma Symphony Chorus and will conduct the Tacoma Symphony in two performances this season.

Michael Gravett's research has focused on the association of maternal genital tract infections and pre-term birth. Among the first investigators in the nation to describe the association of maternal genital infections or intrauterine infections and preterm birth, Gravett has now developed the first nonhuman primate model to study the mechanisms by which infection leads to prematurity. Dr. Gravett is an internationally recognized expert on prematurity and serves on both a panel for prematurity for the Institute of Medicine and on NIH Study Sections related to prematurity. He is currently Professor and Vice-Chair of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of Washington. He serves on the Executive Council for the Infectious Disease Society for Obstetrics and Gynecology, and is listed in Who's Who for both Medicine and Science & Engineering and in The Best Doctors in America. Dr. Martin is Co-founder, CEO and Chairman of FinAnalytica. He is on leave from his position as Professor of Statistics, Adjunct Professor of Finance and Director of Computational Finance at the University of Washington. Dr. Martin was a consultant in the Mathematics and Statistics Research Center at Bell Laboratories for ten years, a position created on the recommendation of J. W. Tukey, whose influence resulted in Dr. Martin switching his research focus from Electrical Engineering to Statistics. In 1987 Dr. Martin founded StatSci, Inc. to develop and market the S-PLUS system for data analysis and statistical modeling, based on an exclusive publishing license for the S language from Bell Laboratories. In 1993 Dr. Martin sold StatSci to MathSoft, Inc. and remained with MathSoft, subsequently renamed Insightful, Inc., in various roles until 2003. He has authored numerous publications in the areas of time series and robust statistical methods, including two Royal Statistical Society Discussion papers and one invited Annals of Statistics Discussion paper. His recent research focus has been applications of statistical methods in finance and investment, including the application of robust statistical methods and Bayesian modelling. Molly Boettcher jumped the pond to visit her brother in England this spring. She also certified in Smallsword, Quarterstaff & Unarmed stage combat, and coordinated Fights of Spring with Heidi Wolf. This summer, she will stage manage Theater Schmeater's Robin Hood, move her home to Capitol Hill, help prepare for the '06-07 season, and slip into more stage combat classes when she can.

Dr. Jabbour is Research Scientist in the Department of Environmental Health at the University of Washington. His areas of expertise are pulmonary toxicology and immunotoxicology. His CRESP research studies include the development of a flow cytometric assay to screen for beryllium sensitization among former Hanford Nuclear Facility workers and to identify cellular and molecular biomarkers of beryllium disease. He is also working on the development of genotyping assays of susceptibility to beryllium.

Aaron is our determined and focused leader. He is a product of the computer technology generation (generation X), growing up with ?techie? parents; he had his first computer at only 8 years old (way back in the late 1970?s!). He brings a wealth of experience in both business and technology. Aaron has been running or owning different businesses since his 18th birthday. He earned a degree in Software Product Management from the University of Washington and has completed countless seminars and training on Management and Software development. Aaron also volunteers at the University of Washington as a motivational speaker and coach for the Software Product Management department. Not only has Aaron completed training in every BDR class but is often called upon to develop content and materials for BDR?s training classes. He has been published in different industry publications and was featured in the CBNC news story about our company. Combining his strong entrepreneurial spirit, technology know-how, and vision with the knowledge of the HVAC industry pasted down through his family line (both his Uncle and Grandfather were successful HVAC contractors), Aaron has been able to build and structure Opportunity Interactive for success today and into the future.

Alan Shelton, MD is the clinical director at the Puyallup Tribal Health Authority where he has worked as a family practitioner for 22 years. He also serves as faculty at Tacoma Family Medicine residency program at Multicare Hospital in Tacoma, Washington. In addition to his MD degree, Dr. Shelton earned a Master's in Public Health at University of Washington Medical School and is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Washington. He recently completed training in acupuncture. Dr. Shelton grew up in Japan, an upbringing which helps him adapt easily to other cultures, including the Native American community in which he works. His personal renewal and recovery from burnout, along with his deep respect for the Native American spiritual tradition, inspired him to share with others the essential role spirituality plays in achieving true satisfaction and fulfillment at work. Dr. Shelton is married and is the father of six children. He enjoys coaching basketball and playing trumpet in his family band.

Mr. Kirk is a PhD student in Economics at the University of Washington with specializations in Natural Resources and Econometrics. Mr. Kirk assisted on a case for market-based rates for an oil pipeline at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in 2006. At BWMQ, Mr. Kirk has experience with market-based rate cases for natural gas storage facilities, the utilization of Order 678 of determining geographic and product markets, and applying economic theory and econometric analysis to explain energy related topics. In addition to working at BWMQ, Mr. Kirk is an instructor for a Principles of Microeconomics course at the University of Washington. Prior to energy consulting, Mr. Kirk participated in environmental tort litigation consulting for Greenfield Advisors, and economic impact analysis at the Oregon Economic and Community Development Department. Mr. Kirk holds a B.S. in Mathematics and Economics from Linfield College, and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Washington.

Alexandra Rousu, has traveled extensively for her young age. As the daughter of the owner she has traveled to Europe since she was 6 weeks old and has continued her travels throughout the years to many different countries. She recently retuned from her 16th trip to Europe. Currently she is enrolled at the University of Washington and hopes to major in architecture, while working at the Savvy Traveler part-time. She is bilingual with German being her second language. Her visual display skills and travel experience are great assets to the store.

Allison Fitzgerald, M.D., is a family medicine physician who has been delivering babies for 15 years. She has a B.A. (Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude) from Emory University and an M.D. from the University of Connecticut. She completed her residency training in Asheville, North Carolina, where she served as chief resident for two years. Since 1992, Dr. Fitzgerald has worked at the 45th Street Clinic in Seattle, WA. She is also an auxiliary faculty member at the University of Washington. She lives in Seattle with her husband and three children, two of whom were delivered at home and one in the hospital.

Allison Geiselbrecht is a doctored microbiologist with over nine years of research experience coordinating multidisciplinary projects from study design to field work in the Pacific Northwest. Dr. Geiselbrecht's expertise is in the investigation of sediment and water chemistry and biodegradation of pollutants such as PAHs, PCBs, and pesticides. She has several first-author publications in these subject areas, and is a regular guest lecturer at the University of Washington on the fate of PAHs in the marine environment.

David Levinger is Executive Director of Feet First, which works to build walkable communities in Washington state. With a Bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Massachusetts and a doctorate in political anthropology from Rensselaer, he is concerned with making technology serve social goals. Dr. Haigwood joined SBRI as a Principal Investigator in 1997 and served as Director of the Institute's Viral Vaccines Program from 2001-2006. Her research is focused on developing vaccines and antibody-based therapies for HIV/AIDS. Prior to joining SBRI, Dr. Haigwood worked for 17 years in the biotech sector, including 10 years for Chiron Corp, where as Director of Virology she led the preclinical development of Chiron's gp120 subunit HIV vaccine. She is a Professor in the Departments of Pathobiology and Microbiology at the University of Washington and currently serves on the NIH Board of Scientific Counselors for AIDS Research at the NCI.

Dr. Tomsen returned to Anchorage after her advanced schooling at Rice University, the University of Oklahoma, Darmouth and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, where she completed her OB/GYN residency. After practicing both obstetrics and gynecology for many years, Dr. Tomsen limited her practice to gynecology in 1992. Much of her practice involves patients with various causes of abnormal bleeding, fibroids, infertility, and abnormal pap smears. Dr. Tomsen serves as a Clinical Associate Professor for the University of Washington and is board certified by the Amercian Board of OB/GYN. In addition to being a fellow and diplomat of the American College of OB/GYN, Dr. Tomsen is a member of the Society for Reproductive Medicine, the American Medical Women's Association, local Alaskan medical societies and is a member of the Pacific Coast OB/GYN Society. Dr. Tomsen and her husband have two children, and in her spare moments, she enjoys gardening, quilting,biking and cross-country skiing. Dr. Tomsen is also an active member in the local arts community.

Dan Goldhaber (Ph.D., Cornell University) is a research associate professor in the Daniel J. Evans School of Public Affairs, University of Washington and an affiliated scholar of the Urban Institute's Education Policy Center. He also served as an elected member of the Alexandria City School Board from 1997-2002. Goldhaber's research focuses on issues of educational productivity and reform at the K-12 level and the relationship between teacher labor markets and teacher quality. Topics of published work in these areas include studies of the effects of teacher qualifications and quality on student achievement, the impact of teacher pay structure on the teacher labor market, the relative efficiency of public and private schools, and policy analyses of accountability systems and market competition (vouchers) on K-12 schooling. His work has appeared in Journal of Human Resources, Journal of Urban Economics, Economics of Education Review, Journal of Education Finance, Education Economics, Education Matters/Next, Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, Education Researcher, and Phi Delta Kappan. Goldhaber's current research addresses the effects of the Opportunity Scholarship ("voucher") Program in Florida on schools, teachers, and students; the implementation and impact of various comprehensive school reform models; teacher labor markets and the role that teacher pay structure plays in teacher recruitment and retention; and the effects of National Board Certification.
