British Gas keeps the mother country warm. Founded in 1972 and headquartered in Reading, UK, BG Group Plc (NYSE: BRG (ADR); London: BG) explores, produces, develops, and supplies natural gas. The company also owns pipelines and distribution networks, owns gas-fired generation plants, and develops and manages LNG terminals and facilities. It has proven reserves of 4.96 trillion cu ft and produces 2.1 billion barrels of oil equivalent. It operates in Europe, North America, South America, Asia, Middle East, Caribbean, and Africa. The company has annual revenue of about Aś5.6 billion and employs about 5,000 people. In 2005 the company acquired sole ownership of Brindisi LNG SpA, the company developing the 8 billion cubic metre per annum (bcma) LNG regasification terminal on the south east coast of Italy from Enel for a cash consideration of ?17 million.
