Melodie R. Domurad has served as our Vice President of Regulatory, Medical Affairs, and Quality Systems since January 2008. From 1997 to 2007, Ms. Domurad served as Vice President of Clinical, Regulatory, and Quality Affairs for Matritech, Inc., a leading developer of proteomics-based diagnostic products for the early detection of cancer. From 1994 to 1997, Ms. Domurad held the position of Director of Clinical Research and Clinical Research Manager at Ergo Science, Inc., where she focused on therapeutics for diabetes, obesity, and cancer. Prior to joining Ergo Science Inc., Ms. Domurad held leadership roles at the Center for the Study of Nutrition and Medicine at the New England Deaconess Hospital, and the Cambridge Center for Holistic Health. Ms. Domurad holds a B.A. from Cornell University and a Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati.

Willard W. Hennemann was named our Vice President of New Product and Business Development in February 2008. From 2006 to early 2008, Dr. Hennemann served as Vice President of Intravascular Systems/Marketing for Medeikon Corporation, an early-stage developer of proprietary disposable technologies to treat cardiovascular disease. From 2000 to 2006, Dr. Hennemann held the position of Vice President of Research and Development/Interventional Vascular at CryoCath Technologies, a world leader in catheter-based products for the cryotherapeutic treatment of cardiovascular disease. From 1998 to 1999, Dr. Hennemann served as Director of Marketing and Product Development for Intervascular (a division of Datascope), which produces a broad line of vascular grafts. From 1996 to 1998, Dr. Hennemann served as Director of Marketing/International Clinical Studies of the Global Stent Business Unit for Medtronic, Inc., the world leader in various forms of medical technology. Prior to Medtronic, Dr. Hennemann assumed roles of increasing responsibility over a 12-year period with Cordis Corporation, a pioneer in developing innovative diagnostic and therapeutic devices for interventional vascular medicine. Dr. Hennemann received his B.A. from the University of Maryland and a Ph.D. from the University of Florida.

Alexander M. Klibanov, Ph.D., age 59, has served as our director since January 1994. Since 1979, Dr. Klibanov has been a faculty member of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he is currently Professor of Chemistry and of Bioengineering. Dr. Klibanov is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and of the National Academy of Engineering.
David P. Southwell, age 48, has served as our director since January 1997 and as Chairman of our board of directors since March 2005. Since September 2008, Mr. Southwell has served as Chief Financial Officer of BioNevia Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sepracor Inc. from October 1995 to May 2008, and served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sepracor Inc. from July 1994 to October 1995. From August 1988 until July 1994, Mr. Southwell was associated with Lehman Brothers Inc., a securities firm, in various positions within the investment banking division, including in the position of Vice President. Mr. Southwell is also a director of Human Genome Sciences Inc. and Panel Intelligence LLC, PTC Therapeutics, Inc., and serves on the Advisory Board of the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

Riccardo Pigliucci has been working with Capsant on its commercialisation strategy since November 2007. Mr. Pigliucci has served as managing partner of Aldwych Associates LLP, a management and technology consulting partnership. From May 1999 to November 2005, Mr. Pigliucci served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Discovery Partners International, a drug discovery services company. From February 1996 to April 1998, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Life Sciences International PLC, a global supplier of scientific equipment and consumables. Prior to that, Mr. Pigliucci served in a number of capacities at The Perkin Elmer Corporation, now Applera Corporation, a global life sciences company, most recently as President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Pigliucci currently serves as a director of the Dionex Corporation, Biosphere Medical and several privately held technology companies.
Sepracor was founded in 1984 by its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Timothy Barberich. Mr. Barberich served as President and Chief Executive Officer from 1984 through 1999, at which time Mr. Barberich was elected Chairman of the Board of Directors. Sepracor became a publicly traded company in 1991 and has spun out four publicly traded companies: SepraChem (which, through a series of acquisitions, was ultimately acquired by Rhodia in 2000); HemaSure, which merged with Point Therapeutics (OTC BB: POTP.OB); BioSepra, now known as BioSphere Medical (Nasdaq: BSMD); and Versicor, which became known as Vicuron Pharmaceuticals and which was subsequently acquired by Pfizer. Prior to founding Sepracor, Mr. Barberich spent 10 years at Millipore Corporation, a Bedford, Massachusetts-based company that provides leading separations products to diversified market segments including the life science research, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and electronic markets. While at Millipore, he held a variety of marketing, sales, and general management positions. Prior to Millipore, Mr. Barberich held project management and research scientist positions at American Cyanamid Company. Mr. Barberich serves as Chairman of the Board of Sepracor, and as a board member of BioSphere Medical, Point Therapeutics, PhRMA, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America and Gemin X.
