Iona Technologies

Christopher J. Horn has served as our Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors since April 2005. Dr. Horn co-founded IONA in February 1991 and served as our Chief Executive Officer from the Company s inception through May 2000, and then again from May 2003 to September 2005. Dr. Horn also served as Chairman of the Board from February 1991 to May 2003. He is best known for his development of IONA s Orbix product. Dr. Horn received his Doctorate in Computer Science from Trinity College, Dublin. Dr. Horn currently serves as a director for the charitable organization UNICEF Ireland, UUTECH, the University of Ulster s technology and knowledge transfer company, Cloudsmith Inc., a U.S.-based software tooling company, Sli Siar Teoranta, an Irish-based business consultancy company and LeCayla Technologies Limited, an Irish-based software billing systems company. Dr. Horn received an honorary Doctor of Science from Trinity College, Dublin and the Gold Medal for Industry from the Industry and Commerce Committee of the Royal Dublin Society in 2001.

Mr. Mirabile was appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2008. Mr. Mirabile joined IONA in 1997, serving as Senior Counsel from 1997 to 2000, Corporate Counsel from 2000 until 2003, and General Counsel from 2003 to 2007. He was previously a lawyer with the business group at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault, LLP of Boston, Massachusetts, where he represented both private and public-held companies and focused on corporate and securities law, public and private securities offerings, and mergers & acquisitions. While at Testa, Hurwitz & Thibealt, Mr. Mirabile represented IONA Technologies PLC in its initial public offering. Before beginning his legal practice, he was a management consultant with Price Waterhouse's Strategic Consulting Group. Mr. Mirabile holds a law degree from Boston College Law School and received his undergraduate degree with honors from Colgate University.

Mr. Porter is responsible for directing all aspects of IONA's worldwide information technology resources. In this capacity, he focuses on promoting and advancing the company's strategic direction through IT innovation and enhanced infrastructure. Mr. Porter has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the IT industry. Mr. Porter joined IONA from IBM, where he served as a Transitional Executive and Development Lab Manager, following the acquisition by IBM of Ascential Software, a $300 million company. Mr. Porter served as Chief Information Officer and a member of the executive operating committee of Ascential Software. Mr. Porter's tenure at Ascential Software originated in 1997 at Informix, which subsequently changed its name to Ascential Software. Prior to that, Mr. Porter held numerous senior management positions in various technology-oriented businesses.

Mr. Alston was appointed Vice President and General Manager Open Source in 2007 and was responsible for the integration of LogicBlaze, a leading provider of open source solutions for service-oriented architecture (SOA), acquired by IONA in April 2007. Under Mr. Alston's leadership, IONA successfully built on the LogicBlaze brand and technology to establish the FUSE family of open source products. Mr. Alston is responsible for leading the strategic direction and operations of IONA's open source business. Prior to his appointment as Vice President and General Manager Open Source, Mr. Alston held a number of senior level roles at IONA including Vice President Corporate Strategy and Product Management and Worldwide Marketing. He brings twenty-plus years of product marketing, product management, marketing, and engineering experience to IONA having held leadership positions with companies including Bachman Information Systems, C-bridge Internet Solutions, eXcelon Corporation (acquired by Progress Software) and most recently Pantero Corporation. As Pantero's Vice President of Products, Mr. Alston was responsible for defining the company's product and marketing strategy. In his role as a corporate officer and Executive Vice President of Product Management and Marketing at eXcelon Corporation, Mr. Alston helped take the company public, and was instrumental in developing the strategy and vision to bring the technology to new markets. In his role as a corporate officer and Executive Vice President of Product Management and Marketing at eXcelon Corporation, Mr. Alston helped take the company public, and was instrumental in developing the strategy and vision to bring the technology to new markets. His strategy and execution was directly responsible for growing the company's XML product division from $2 million to $20 million in just 18 months. Mr. Alston holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Massachusetts, and an MBA from Northeastern University.

Pat Walsh is responsible for IONA's marketing strategy and operations, including the strategic planning, positioning and introduction of IONA's products and services to the market through an integrated, global marketing program. Mr. Walsh has an extensive background in marketing enterprise software and services, having held senior management positions at Solid Information Technologies and HP in United States and Europe. Most recently, Mr.Walsh was Director of Product Management and Product Marketing for Solid Information Technologies, a vendor of distributed database management solutions. Prior to his tenure at Solid, Mr. Walsh spent more than 10 years at Hewlett-Packard in several different management positions with responsibility for marketing the company's distributed computing, information security and business-to-business integration solutions.

Based in IONA's corporate headquarters in Dublin Ireland, Philip Pender is Vice President of IONA Technologies' Human Resources. He has responsibility for developing strategies and programs that provide focus and direction for all people related aspects of IONA's growth and development worldwide. In all areas of staff enhancement, organizational development, performance and recruitment, the emphasis is on programs and policies that value talent and creativity and support the continued enhancement of IONA's reputation for excellence in market leadership and technology innovation. Mr. Pender has extensive industry experience in all aspects of Human Resources, gained with leading software and fulfillment services companies, including Oracle Corporation and KAO Infosystems. Philip has held a number of senior management positions in IONA, since joining the company in 2000. Philip holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Human Resource Management from University College Dublin and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development.

James D. Maikranz has served as a non-executive director of IONA since July 2001. Mr. Maikranz was employed by J.D. Edwards & Company, a provider of collaborative software solutions, from October 1998 to March 2001, most recently as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales. Prior to joining J.D. Edwards & Company, Mr. Maikranz was employed by SAP AG, a provider of e-business software solutions, from January 1992 to September 1998, most recently as Senior Vice President of Sales. Mr. Maikranz has also served in senior executive positions for Computer Application Specialists, a software company specializing in the oil and gas industry, and Info Services, a company providing human resources based software applications. Mr. Maikranz was a founder and member of the board of directors of the Chaptec Solutions Company, a management consulting firm. Mr. Maikranz has been an advisory board member for i2 Technologies, Inc., a supply chain optimization company, and currently serves on the board of directors of Servigistics, Inc., a global service parts management solutions company, Taleo Corporation (formerly known as Recruitsoft, Inc.), a provider of on demand talent management solutions, and DataSynapse, Inc., a grid computing software application company.

Dr. Kenny has served as non-executive director since July 1999. As a senior research fellow at University College (Dublin,Ireland), he works with a wide range of international organizations on their business strategies. Dr. Kenny is a director of Kerry Group PLC, Independent News and Media PLC, and a former Chairman of the Smurfit Paribas Bank.
