Pizza Hut

Scott Bergren was appointed President and Chief Concept Officer for Pizza Hut, Inc. in December of 2006. Previously he was the Executive VP Marketing for KFC and Yum! Brands in Louisville, Ky. He joined Yum! Brands after a year and a half as Chief Concept Officer of Yum! Restaurants International (YRI) in Dallas. Earlier in his career, Scott built and operated Pizza Hut and Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants in Mexico and Central America working for Tricon's International Division.

Jenny has held a varying number of positions in her career including being the first female Assistant Manager with Pizza Hut in Victoria in 1987, owner/manager of family business for 15 yrs, Bursar/Registrar 10 yrs with the Department of Education Victoria before moving to Qld. Jenny's first form of employment in Qld was in the Real Estate Industry as a Sales Secretary and from there into Body Corporate management. In 2003 Jenny completed a Certificate IV in Body Corporate Management.

James trained and qualified with Andersen Legal in the City of London before joining FSI in 2002. James specialises in all aspects of commercial property work. Whilst having a background in development and institutional investment work, James now focuses more on the retail and leisure sector acting for a number of well known high street retail operators and restaurant chains including Virgin Retail, L A Fitness and Pizza Hut. James also acts for X-Leisure (in a Landlord capacity) across their portfolio of branded leisure parks as well as increasingly acting for a number of independent hotel operators including the Splendid Hotel Group who own and operate a significant number of both budget and luxury hotels in central and greater London.

Quiet but straightforward, Latasha quite simply says why she enjoys being at NCIA, "The instructors are cool." Latasha came to NCIA about four years ago, and since that time, she has been attending classes at NCIA and working part-time for Pizza Hut. Twice a week, Latasha spends her day at the NCIA Adult Career Development Center, enrolled in job readiness classes such as basic skills, workplace etiquette, how to find a job, and how to keep a job. For the rest of the week, Latasha works at Pizza Hut, where she has successfully kept her job for four years. During her time at Pizza Hut, Latasha has been steadily increasing her work load and responsibilities. "I now do everything there; even make the pizzas and the salads." She says she enjoys her classes at NCIA and the opportunity to learn new skills. Her favorite class focuses on how best to stay employed, which looking at her successful track record, is a class that she has excelled in."

Tu is currently a high school student at Crescent Heights High School. She loves doing activities and running youth programs. Tu wishes to study either environmental science or engineer after finishing high school. She also loves to travel around the world, to learn about other cultures, and to cherish her own Vietnamese background. She works part-time at Pizza Hut on weekend. In addition, she has been involved in student council at Crescent Heights High School; as well as fundraising for Alberta Lung Association and The Canadian Cancer Association. Following her passion for volunteering, she came across the CVYG by attending their conference last year, in 2002, and has been involved ever since. Tu acknowledges that she has learnt a great deal by volunteering for the CVYG. In her own words, "the CVYG helps me realize how important and rich Vietnamese culture is and should be in Calgary. It's time for us to look into our own identity, and be proud of being Vietnamese-Canadians." In her free time, Tu enjoys reading, listening to music and, of course, eating ;-)!!

Daniel M. Carney of Wichita, Kansas co-founded Pizza Hut, Inc. in 1958 and served as Chairman of the Board until 1975. Dan then stayed on as a Director through 1977 when at that time Pizza Hut was acquired by PepsiCo, Inc. Dan Carney has served as a Director and Chairman for a number of public and private companies. Included in these are Rent-A-Center, Gaelic Management, COMCOA, T-NETIX and Timing Systems Inc. As a leader in commerce Dan also has also been involved as a major investor and in the direct management in the Hotel/Motel industry. Dan's interests also include the founding of Center Industries of Wichita, Kansas. The center employees more than 300 individuals who are physically challenged by Cerebral Palsy. Dan and wife Gayla Carney, co-chair the Catholic Diocese Shelter the Heart which assists women and children who seek help at Catholic Charities Harbor House. "Gayla and I consider it a privilege to assist in providing women and children a safe environment that is free from emotional and physical abuse."
