Edward F. Lange, Jr. is BRE’s executive vice president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer, and serves on the company’s board of directors. He joined the company in 2000.
As COO, Lange is responsible for the operational leadership of the company, including the asset management platform and all corporate service functions. In his CFO role, he oversees all corporate-related accounting, treasury and finance activities; investor relations; capital formation; and internal audit and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
Lange has more than 20 years of experience in the real estate, healthcare and financial services industries. Prior to BRE, he served as chief financial officer of Health Care REIT, Inc. from 1996 to 2000. Lange was a senior vice president, finance and a member of the executive management team of the Mediplex Group, Inc. and affiliated companies from 1992 to 1996. From 1984 to 1992, Lange was an investment banker with the Advest Group, Inc.
Lange holds a bachelor’s degree in urban planning from the University of Massachusetts, and an M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut.

Stephen C. Dominiak, executive vice president and chief investment officer, joined BRE in September 2008. He is responsible for all investment-related activities, including strategic and tactical considerations; sourcing new development opportunities and stabilized property acquisitions; land entitlement; product development; and construction. He also oversees investment policies, asset allocation guidelines, underwriting, and compliance and risk procedures.
Over his 20-year career in real estate, Dominiak has played a leadership role in the acquisition, renovation, development and construction of 13,000 multifamily units with a total cost of more than $3.0 billion.
Prior to BRE, Dominiak was divisional president and managing partner at JPI's western division, where he was responsible for a 45-person team and a $676 million multifamily and mixed-use pipeline as well as an additional $617 million in planning or under control.
Dominiak received an MBA from the University of California, Irvine, and both a master's degree in city and regional planning and a bachelor's degree in architecture from the University of Texas, Arlington.

Kerry Fanwick, executive vice president, general counsel, provides general legal counsel to BRE in the areas of corporate structure, property transactions, finance and employment. He also serves as corporate secretary.
Fanwick, who joined BRE in 2007, is the co-founder and former partner of Miller & Fanwick, LLP, a law firm specializing in business and financial strategies. His areas of expertise include accounting and financial analysis, corporate structuring and restructurings, tax-advantaged real estate transactions and tax-exempt financings. Previously, he served as general counsel for First Nationwide Bank; an attorney at the law firm of Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati; and in-house counsel and a member of senior management for various financial services and real estate companies.
Fanwick received his juris doctor degree from Stanford Law School. He is also a California Certified Public Accountant.

Mr. McGurk has been our Director since 2006. Currently, Mr. McGurk serves as CEO of Overture
Films, a motion picture studio. Prior to his post at Overture Films, Mr. McGurk served as Vice
Chairman and COO of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Inc. (MGM), a motion picture, television, home video,
and theatrical production and distribution company, from 1999 to 2005. From 1996 to 1999, Mr.
McGurk served in executive capacities with Universal Pictures, a division of Universal Studios Inc.,
most recently as President and COO. Mr. McGurk is 52 years old.
Singleton served as chief financial officer, chief investment officer, vice chairman and board member of Spieker Properties, Inc., a Northern California-based commercial real estate investment trust (REIT), from its initial public offering (IPO) in 1993 until its merger with Equity Office Properties, Inc. in 2001.
Singleton currently serves on the board of directors of Digital Realty Trust; as vice chairman, board of trustees of Lehigh University; and board member and past president of the Glaucoma Research Foundation.
Singleton began his career in real estate at the Trammel-Crow Company in Menlo Park, California. He became a partner of the firm in 1974, and was responsible for the development and management of office, commercial and retail properties in Northern California and Reno, Nevada.
In 1987, he joined the newly formed Spieker Partners, a private company. He played an integral role in planning and implementing the IPO and listing of Spieker Properties, Inc. on the New York Stock Exchange.
During his real estate career, Singleton oversaw the development, acquisition, management and leasing of more than 28 million square feet of commercial properties on the West Coast, representing an investment of more than $3.0 billion.
Singleton holds an MBA from Harvard University, and a bachelor of science degree from Lehigh University.
Mr. Mace has been our Director since 1998. Mr. Mace has served as Chairman of Mace Pacific
Holding Company, LLC, A Private Investment Company, since 2006. From 2001 to 2006, he served as
President, Vail Resorts Lodging Company and Rock Resorts International LLC (both subsidiaries of
Vail Resorts, Inc., an owner, manager and developer of ski resorts and related lodging.) Mr. Mace
served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts-U.S./Mexico division
from 2000 to 2001 and was President & Chief Executive Officer, Fairmont Hotels from 1996 to 2000. Mr.
Mace is 57 years old.
Mr. Lyons has been our Director since 2006. Mr. Lyons currently serves on the Board of Directors of
Equinix, Inc. He served as Vice Chairman of ProLogis, a global provider of distribution facilities and
services, from 2001 through May 2006. He was Chief Investment Officer from March 1997 to December
2004, and held several other executive positions since joining ProLogis in 1993. Prior to joining
ProLogis, he was a Managing Partner of King & Lyons, a San Francisco Bay Area industrial real
estate development and management company, since its inception in 1979. Mr. Lyons is 59 years old.

California, Nevada and Utah (CSAA), a position she has held since 2005. She was Chief Operations

2003. Ms. Downey serves as an officer of California State Automobile Association, California State

Roger P. Kuppinger has been a Director of the Company since August 1994. He is a self-employed investment banker and financial advisor who is an active investor in both private and public companies. Prior to March 1994, he was a Managing Director at the investment banking firm of Sutro & Co., Inc. Prior to joining Sutro in 1969, he worked at First Interstate Bank, formerly named United California Bank (1964-1969). He has served on over 14 boards of directors for both public and private companies, and currently serves on the board of directors of BRE Properties, Inc. Mr. Kuppinger is Chairman of Realty Income's Audit Committee, and is a member of the Compensation Committee.
