Hanif was appointed Group Finance Director in February 2005 and joined both the Board and the Operating Committee. Since joining BT in 1983, he has held a variety of roles in the company's UK and international divisions. In 1998, he went to Northern Ireland and took up the post of finance director BT Northern Ireland and in 1999 he was appointed chief executive of BT Northern Ireland. Hanif was also chairman of OCEAN Communications (BT's subsidiary in the Republic of Ireland) from June 1999 to September 2000. In April 2002, he was appointed managing director BT Regions. In September 2002, Hanif returned to London as chief finance officer for BT Wholesale and in January 2003, he was awarded the OBE for his services to business in Northern Ireland. Hanif holds a BA Honours degree in mathematics, operations research and economics from Essex University. He was born in Uganda and is 45 years old.

Steve Plume, is currently a Broadband Product Development Manager for British Telecommunications Plc in the Wholesale arm of the business, based in a small village close to the world renowned BT Research Centre at Martlesham Heath, England. Steve has nearly 25 years of experience in a variety of areas within telecommunications. Steve's currently responsible for managing & supporting all in-life ADSL products within the BT Wholesale product portfolio; this captures all areas of DSL from In-Life Product management, procurement, customer delivery solution design, OSS design with responsibility for product areas of the order and repair interfaces. Steve previously to this roll was the head of the network nursery team for the DSL trails in the UK, managing a small team he was required to ensure platform configuration and technology testing, Steve is proud of the fact that he was there on the initial consumer trials in the late 90's and has enjoyed staying with the DSL technology ever since. Prior to this he was wholly into network build and integration and has worked on both fixed access and wireless telephony networks as well as high security networks. George Dobrowski, DSL Forum Board of Directors; Conexant, Director, Technology and Product Planning Keeping a pulse on technology trends and on service provider/operator networking needs, George is involved in technology and product planning at Conexant, multi-vendor interoperability programs, and positions in standards and industry forums. Previously was CTO of a startup called Ficon Technology, acquired by Conexant/GlobeSpan, which developed and licensed ATM and IP software protocol stacks. George's roots go back to Bellcore (now Telcordia) and Bell Labs where he was involved in research and development of advanced communication systems technologies and their application to large scale operator/telco networking.

Maarten van den Bergh was appointed to the Board on 1 September 2000 and became deputy chairman on 1 October 2006. He chairs the Remuneration Committee and acts as senior independent director. He also chairs the Pension Scheme Performance Review Group.
He is a non-executive director of British Airways and Royal Dutch Shell, and former chairman of Lloyds TSB Group and Akzo Nobel Supervisory Board.
Prior to his retirement in July 2000, Maarten was president of the Royal Dutch Petroleum Company and vice chairman of its committee of managing directors from July 1998, having been appointed a managing director of the Royal Dutch Shell Group of companies in July 1992. Clay, 59, was appointed as Non-Executive Chairman in October 2005. Prior to his retirement in May 2001, he was executive Deputy Chairman of CMG (now part of LogicaCMG), having joined the board when it acquired Admiral plc, the software services company he co-founded in 1979. Clay is also Non-Executive Director and External Chairman of the Meteorological Office Board, and Non-Executive Chairman of Echo Research Limited and Close Beacon Investment Fund. N. R. Narayana Murthy is the Chairman of our Board and Chief Mentor. He co-founded Infosys in 1981 and served as our CEO for over 20 years between 1981 and 2002. Under his leadership, Infosys was listed on NASDAQ in 1999. He served as the Executive Chairperson of our Board and Chief Mentor from 2002 to 2006. He retired from employment with Infosys in August 2006. He also serves as a director of Infosys China and Infosys Consulting. Mr. Murthy serves as an independent director on the boards of Unilever PLC, Unilever NV, and New Delhi Television Limited. He has also been appointed as an independent director in HSBC Holdings PLC, with effect from May 1, 2008. He is an IT advisor to several Asian countries. He is also a member of the advisory boards and councils of several educational institutions including Cornell University, ESSEC, Paris, INSEAD, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore, Singapore Management University, Stanford Graduate School of Business, the University of Tokyo and the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. Mr. Murthy was voted the "World Entrepreneur of the Year" by Ernst & Young in 2003 and ranked as India's most powerful CEO for three consecutive years between 2004 and 2006 by the Economic Times. In 2004, TIME magazine identified him as one of ten global leaders who are helping shape the future of technology. In 2005, the Economist ranked him 8th among the 15 most admired global leaders and the Financial Times ranked him 28th among the world's most respected business leaders In 2007, he was chosen as the "Business Process Innovator" by the Economist and he received the Ernst Weber Engineering Leadership medal from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers for his pioneering role in the globalization of IT services. Mr. Murthy was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian award, by the Government of India in 2008. The Government of France made him an Officer of the Legion of Honor in 2008. Mr. Murthy holds a B. E. from the University of Mysore and an M. Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology, or IIT, Kanpur. Nandan M. Nilekani is the Co-Chairman of our Board. He is one of our co-founders and has served as one of our directors since 1981. From March 2002 to June, 2007, he served as our Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director. He has previously served as President and Chief Operating Officer. He also serves as a director of Infosys Consulting. Mr. Nilekani co-founded India's National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM) and the Bangalore chapter of The IndUS Entrepreneurs (TiE). He is the Vice Chairperson of The Conference Board, Inc., an international research and business membership organization. He is on the Board of Directors of the Peterson Institute for International Economics and on the Board of Governors of the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. He also serves as the Co-chairperson of the IIT Bombay Heritage Fund. In India, Mr. Nilekani is a member of the National Knowledge Commission and also part of the National Advisory Group on e-Governance. He is also a member of the review committee of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission. In April 2008, he took over as the elected President of National Council of Applied Economic Research, NCAER, the premier, independent, applied economics research institute in India. He was the Chairperson of the Government of India's IT Task Force for power. He has also served as a member of the subcommittee of the Securities and Exchange Board of India that dealt with issues related to insider trading, and as a member of the Reserve Bank of India's Advisory Group on corporate governance.
