Buckeye Insurance Group is comprised of three property/casualty insurance companies that are run by the same management team. The lead company, Buckeye State Mutual Insurance Company, has been providing farm and personal lines coverage to policyholders since 1879. Home and Farm Insurance Company is a stock company formed in 1985 to service smaller mutual property insurers that cannot offer liability insurance to their Indiana policyholders. Home and Farm associated with Buckeye State Mutual in 1993 through a full service management agreement and intercompany pooling arrangement. In 1996 Buckeye became the majority shareholder with ownership of 51 percent of outstanding stock. In 2005, the pooling agreement was terminated and Buckeye purchased the remaining shares to gain 100 percent ownership. The third company, Home and Farm Mutual Insurance Company, is a farm mutual company formed in 2003 through the merger of two small Indiana farm mutual companies. Buckeye State Mutual manages the operation of Home and Farm Mutual and has a majority on the company's board of directors.
