Buehler's was founded in 1929 in New Philadelphia, Ohio by E. L. (Ed) Buehler and his wife, Helen. Ed had worked for the A&P for a few years, and he was proud of his new business. In 1932 the Buehler family and business moved to Wooster. Their second store was opened near the northeast corner of the Public Square. It would prosper under Ed's direction and his emphasis on Customer Service, free delivery, garden-fresh produce and a clean, friendly store. The lessons he learned previously in the grocery business were put to use: quality merchandise at competitive prices, close control of operating expenses, and recruitment and training of top-notch people. As the Buehler children grew older they took an increasing interest in the family business and worked closely with their parents in the development of the company. Today, Buehler's continues to be owned and operated by the Buehler family under the joint direction of brothers, Gene and Don Buehler, and their sons: Dan, Bob, Roger, Scott, and Greg. they are assisted by many talented men and women. Buehler's headquarters is in Wooster, along with a limited warehouse facility. In recent years, a fourth generation of Buehler children has joined the company.
