Leland F. Wilson has been President and a director of VIVUS since the Company was formed in April 1991 and Chief Executive Officer since November 1991. Prior to joining VIVUS, Mr. Wilson was Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Development of Genelabs Technologies, Inc. from 1989 to 1991. Mr. Wilson was Group Product Director, later promoted to Director of Marketing, at LifeScan, a Johnson & Johnson company, from 1986 to 1989. From 1973 to 1986, Mr. Wilson served in several research, marketing and sales positions for Syntex Research and Syntex Laboratories, Inc. Mr. Wilson received a B.S. and an M.S. from Pennsylvania State University and was a Lieutenant in the United States Army.

Lee B. Perry has served as the company's Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer since February 2007. His responsibilities include oversight of the company's accounting operations and systems, external reporting, financial planning and analysis, cost accounting, internal controls, taxation and risk management. Mr. Perry has over 30 years experience in corporate finance and operations and public accounting. For the past twenty years he has held senior financial positions in life sciences and manufacturing industries. Prior to VIVUS, his life science experience included serving as senior director of finance at Questcor Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and as director of finance at DNA Sciences, Inc. Mr. Perry also served as chief financial officer of BHP Coated Steel, Corp. Mr. Perry earned his BA degree in economics from San Diego State University and is a certified public accountant.

Guy P. Marsh has been Vice President of U.S. Operations and General Manager for VIVUS since July 2000. In 2001, Mr. Marsh assumed responsibilities for U.S. Sales and Marketing of MUSE. Mr. Marsh joined VIVUS in May 1998 in the position of Senior Director, U.S. Operations, and assumed the responsibilities of General Manager, Operations in April 1999. Prior to joining VIVUS, Mr. Marsh served as Vice President Technical Operations for Copley Pharmaceutical, Inc. from April 1994 to April 1998. Also during this period, Mr. Marsh served as a liaison between Copley Pharmaceutical and Copley's majority stockholder, Hoechst-Celanese Corporation. From November 1987 to April 1994, Mr. Marsh served in various manufacturing, sales and business management roles for Hoechst-Roussel Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Mr. Marsh received a B.S. in Engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology, holds a New Jersey State Professional Engineering License, and received an MBA from Seton Hall University.

Charles J. Casamento has served as a director since September 2002. Mr. Casamento is currently Executive Director and Principal of The Sage Group, a healthcare advisory group specializing in mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships between biotechnology companies and pharmaceutical companies. Mr. Casamento was the president and CEO of Osteologix, Inc., a public biopharmaceutical company developing products for treating osteoporosis, from 2004 through 2007. From 1999 through 2004, he served as chairman of the board, president and CEO of Questcor Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Mr. Casamento formerly served as RiboGene, Inc.'s president, CEO and chairman of the board from 1993 through 1999 until it merged with Cypros to form Questcor. He was co-founder, president and CEO of Interneuron Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company, from 1989 until 1993. Mr. Casamento has also held senior management positions at Genzyme Corporation, where he was senior vice president, pharmaceuticals and biochemicals; American Hospital Supply, where he was vice president of business development and strategic planning for the Critical Care Division; Johnson & Johnson, Hoffmann-LaRoche, Inc. and Sandoz Inc. Mr. Casamento also serves on the Boards of Directors of CORTEX Pharmaceuticals and VIVUS, Inc. He holds a bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from Fordham University and an M.B.A. from Iona College and is a licensed pharmacist in the states of New York and New Jersey .

Arthur Frank, M.D., has served as the medical director of the George Washington University weight management program since 1991. A specialist in internal medicine, Dr. Frank has concentrated his professional activities on the medical management of adult obesity, the development of related public policy, and the formulation and implementation of a variety of clinical trials studying the problems of weight management and obesity. Dr. Frank's practice is directed to the issues of human nutrition and the metabolic and psychological factors affecting obesity. He supervises a staff of nutritionists, psychologists, exercise therapists and physicians who work intensively in a multidisciplinary approach to the medical, behavioral and physiologic components of this chronic disease. Dr. Frank has worked with the Office of Economic Opportunity and the Department of Health, Education and Welfare. A graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and of the New York University School of Medicine, Dr. Frank completed his residency in internal medicine at the Stanford Medical Center where he was also a research fellow in endocrinology and metabolism. Subsequently, he was a research fellow at the National Heart Institute in Bethesda, Maryland.

She has authored numerous publications and her works appear in prominent medical journals and books. Dr. Ryan received her medical degree from LSU School of Medicine. She is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology. For the past 19 years she has focused on obesity and nutrition and her research interests include many aspects of obesity management and prevention. She is principal investigator of a U.S. Army Military Nutrition Research grant, and a co-principal investigator on a number of trials including the NIDDK Look AHEAD study that addresses weight loss in persons with type 2 diabetes. Her most recent research interest has been practical (or pragmatic) clinical trials to evaluate weight loss in routine medical practice, and she has one study funded by the state insurance company for Louisiana that is ongoing. Dr. Ryan is the author of over 100 articles on obesity. She is also interested in training primary care physicians to effectively manage obesity and is a frequent participant in continuing education programs targeting improvement of health professionals' skills in obesity management.

Nancy J.V. Bohannon, M.D., completed the Dorothy Frank diabetes clinical research fellowship at UCSF, sponsored by the San Francisco Diabetes Association, prior to becoming an assistant clinical professor at UCSF. She has been a principal investigator on over 70 clinical trials, involving devices and drugs for diabetes, hypertension, obesity and dyslipidemia. Currently, Dr. Bohannon is director of clinical research at the cardiovascular risk reduction program at St. Luke's Hospital in San Francisco, California. She continues her full time solo private practice specializing in research in and treatment of diabetes and metabolic disorders in San Francisco, where she has practiced for 30 years. She has published over 70 articles.

Thomas A. Wadden, PhD is Professor of Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where he also is Director of the Weight and Eating Disorders Program. He received his A.B. in 1975 from Brown University and his doctorate in clinical psychology in 1981 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Wadden's principal research is on the treatment of obesity by interventions that have included behavior modification, very-low-calorie diets, exercise and medications. In addition, he has investigated the psychosocial consequences of obesity, as well as the behavioral and metabolic effects of dieting and weight cycling. He has published over 180 scientific papers and is the co-editor of three books, including Handbook of Obesity Treatment (with Dr. Albert Stunkard). His research is supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health, as well as industry. Dr. Wadden serves on the National Task Force for the Prevention and Treatment of Obesity (NIH-NIDDK), as well as on the editorial boards of International Journal of Eating Disorders, Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, and Obesity Research. He teaches (with Dr. Gary Foster) a course on weight and eating disorders and also advises graduate students.

In addition to Symyx, he is a director of Aehr Test Systems, Genus, Inc., Sanmina-SCI Corporation, and Vivus, Inc, all public companies, as well as several privately held companies. Mr. Rosati serves on the firm's Executive Management Committee and is the Managing Partner of WS Investments, an investment partnership composed of the members and associates of the firm. He is an adjunct Professor at the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley.
