Neil Smit joined Charter in August 2005 as President, Chief Executive Officer and Director. Mr. Smit has more than 20 years of experience working with multi-service providers and leading consumer brands. Prior to joining Charter, Mr. Smit worked at Time Warner, Inc. most recently serving as the President of Time Warner's America Online Access Business, overseeing Internet access services including America OnLine ("AOL"), CompuServe, and Netscape ISP. He also served at AOL as Executive Vice President, Member Services; Chief Operating Officer of MapQuest and several other operating roles. Prior to joining AOL in 2000, Mr. Smit was a regional president with Nabisco and was with Pillsbury in a number of management positions. Mr. Smit served for five and a half years on active duty in the Navy SEAL Teams and retired from the service as a lieutenant commander.
Mr. Smit serves on the boards of the National Cable and Telecommunications Association, CableLabs and C-SPAN. He has a bachelor's of science degree from Duke University and a master's degree from Tufts University's Fletcher School.

Steve Apodaca was promoted to President of Charter’s West Operating Group in December 2008. In this role, he is responsible for providing cable-based communication services to more than 2.5 million customers.
Previously, Mr. Apodaca served as Vice President of Operations Support from September 2005 to December 2008, Interim President of the former West Division from February 2007 to May 2007, and Interim Senior Vice President of Operations for the former Great Lakes Division from April 2005 to September 2005. He joined Charter as Vice President of Marketing for the former Great Lakes Division in 2003.
Prior to joining Charter, Mr. Apodaca served as Senior Director of Marketing for nCUBE from 2002 to 2003 and Executive Director of Marketing for AT&T Broadband from 1998 to 2002.
Mr. Apodaca received a B.S. degree in marketing and an M.B.A from Colorado State University.

Gregory L. Doody joined Charter in December 2008 to assist in Charter’s financial restructuring. Mr. Doody became Chief Restructuring Officer in March 2009 and General Counsel in May 2009. Mr. Doody is responsible for the oversight of Charter’s restructuring activities, corporate legal affairs and compliance.
Prior to joining Charter, Mr. Doody served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Calpine Corporation, where he oversaw all of Calpine corporate legal affairs and served as the company’s Secretary. In addition, Mr. Doody served as Calpine’s chief restructuring officer, successfully leading Calpine through one of the largest and most complex Chapter 11 cases in history. Prior to that, Mr. Doody served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of HealthSouth Corporation, where he was responsible for the oversight of all legal activities, including the successful negotiations with the Department of Justice, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and various class action plaintiffs.
Mr. Doody received a juris doctor degree from Emory University and a bachelor of science in management degree from Tulane University. Mr. Doody is a member of the Alabama State Bar and the American Bar Association. Mr. Doody is also a certified public accountant.

Kevin D. Howard is Vice President, Controller and Chief Accounting Officer with overall responsibility for Charter’s accounting and financial reporting, both internal and external. Mr. Howard was promoted to his current position in June 2007. Prior to that, he served as Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer from April of 2006 to June of 2008, Vice President of Finance from April 2003 until April 2006 and as Director of Financial Reporting since joining Charter in April 2002.
Mr. Howard began his career at Arthur Andersen LLP in 1993 where he held a number of positions in the audit division prior to leaving in April 2002. Mr. Howard received a B.S.B.A. degree in finance and economics from the University of Missouri — Columbia and is a certified public accountant, certified managerial accountant and certified in financial management.

Ted Schremp is Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, with overall responsibility for Charter’s marketing activities.
Mr. Schremp joined Charter in May 2005 and served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Charter Telephone®, where he directed the successful nationwide rollout of the Company’s residential and commercial telephone service. Prior to joining Charter, Mr. Schremp was employed by Hewlett Packard, where he co-founded its Cable, Media and Entertainment organization.
Mr. Schremp graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a double-major in economics and business, and earned an MBA from Penn State University.
Investor and philanthropist Paul G. Allen creates and advances world-class projects and high-impact initiatives that change and improve the way people live, learn, work and experience the world through arts, education, entertainment, sports, business and technology. He co-founded Microsoft with Bill Gates in 1975, remained the company's chief technologist until he left Microsoft in 1983, and is the founder and chairman of Vulcan Inc. and chairman of Charter Communications.
In addition, Allen's multibillion dollar investment portfolio includes large stakes in DreamWorks Animation SKG, Digeo, Plains All American, real estate holdings and more than 40 other technology, media and content companies. In 2004 Allen funded SpaceShipOne, the first privately-backed effort to successfully put a civilian in suborbital space and winner of the Ansari X-Prize competition. Allen also owns the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League, the Portland Trail Blazers of the National Basketball Association, and is part of the primary ownership group for the Seattle Sounders FC, Seattle's new Major League Soccer team.
With lifetime giving totaling nearly $1 billion, Allen has been named one of the top philanthropists in America. Allen gives back to the community through the Paul G. Allen Family Foundation, whose goal is to transform individual lives and strengthen communities by supporting arts and culture, youth engagement, community development and social change, and scientific and technological innovation throughout the Pacific Northwest. In 2003, Allen contributed $100 million to create the Allen Institute for Brain Science, a research facility dedicated to performing innovative basic research on the brain and distributing its discoveries to researchers around the world. In 2006 the Allen Institute completed its inaugural project, the Allen Brain Atlas, a Web-based, three-dimensional map of gene expression in the mouse brain which is freely accessible online. Prior to joining Salem Partners, Mr. Merritt founded and ran Gerard Klauer Mattison's Entertainment Media Advisory Group, which focused on financial advisory services to the entertainment and media industries. Previously, Mr. Merritt spent 24 years at KPMG LLP, one of the four international accounting and consulting firms, including 14 years as a partner. From 1989 to 1998 he served as the National Partner-in-Charge of the Media Entertainment Practice. During this period he had direct partner responsibilities for many of the largest clients of KPMG, including four of the major studios, two major television networks and several independent producers. From 1999 through 2000, Mr. Merritt was the Chief Financial Officer to Artists Management Group, a major talent management company and Artists Television Group, a major independent television producer. Mr. Merritt currently serves on the Board of Directors of Charter Communications, Inc. and Laser Pacific Media Corporation.
