As Cairnstone's chief actuary, Paul oversees the underwriting and pricing of all of Cairnstone's business. He is responsible for developing and updating the company's rating manuals and methodologies, estimating claim reserves, analyzing underwriting performance and identifying select market niches. Paul is also the key person for the development and pricing of new products and features. As one of the founders of Cairnstone, Paul was initially responsible for the opening of Cairnstone's nine field offices and for recruiting the Regional Directors to manage these offices. Prior to joining Cairnstone, Paul was employed by Alden Risk Management Services. In this capacity, he developed a consistent reserving technique for specific and aggregate stop loss, which is now the industry standard. Paul received his BA in Actuarial Science from Temple University and holds an FSA designation from the Society of Actuaries.

Debora is a registered professional nurse who has been involved in the healthcare/insurance industry for over 25 years. Most recently in 2000, Debora was Director of Medical Management and Claims for BCS Insurance Company in Minneapolis, MN. She was a member of the stop loss team that generated a 25 million block of employer stop loss business. Among her responsibilities at BCS were administrator evaluations, risk assessments, medical management and claim oversight and resource assistance to over 25 administrators. In addition, her previous experience includes developing and managing a catastrophic case management program in coordination with a third party administrator as well as co-founder and Vice President of PAI, a benefits consulting firm. Additional work experience includes three years as Faculty Associate at the University of Southern Maine School of Nursing. Debora graduated from the University of Vermont School of Nursing and has earned certifications in geriatrics and case management. She is a current member of CMSA and also holds her producer license for Life and Health.

Jim joined Cairnstone in March of 2000. He directs the company's Claims, Medical Management, and Policy Issue operations. Jim has over 30 years of administration experience covering fully insured & HMO plans, as well as employer stop loss, HMO reinsurance, and Provider reinsurance. Prior to joining Cairnstone, Jim held the position of Senior Vice President of Operations for Neighborhood Health Partnership, a local HMO in Miami covering 150,000 members. Prior to NHP, Jim held a variety of positions during his 16+ years at John Alden Life Insurance Company, including Vice President of Group Operations. Jim initially directed the HMO Reinsurance division and later opened and managed Anchor Benefit, a TPA subsidiary of ARMS. Jim is a licensed agent and a member of the International Claims Association as well as The National Coalition of Healthcare Fraud Association.

Kathleen serves as Vice President of Cairnstone Marketing Corporation. She operates out of Cairnstone's Pittsburgh office, where she is also responsible for managing a sales territory, including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia. Kathleen joined Cairnstone in May 1996 as Regional Director of the Pittsburgh office. She was promoted to Vice President in recognition of her outstanding achievements in both new business production and underwriting results.

Jim, along with a proven team of reinsurance professionals, founded Cairnstone, Inc. in February 1996. He has guided Cairnstone from a start-up to a successful health-care reinsurance company managing a $60 million block of business. Prior to founding Cairnstone, Jim had created a similar entity, Alden Risk Management Services, Inc. (ARMS), the entrepreneurial subsidiary of John Alden Life Insurance Company. Under his leadership, this organization became the industry leader in stop-loss insurance, generating over $200 million in revenue and employing over 200 people. Jim also founded a second subsidiary for Alden, John Alden International, which provided medical reinsurance to insurance companies outside the United States. Jim is a Master Fellow of the Life Management Institute and a graduate of the Stanford University Executive program.

Helen Smith, RN, BSPA, CCM has been with Cairnstone since 1997. Her background includes over thirty years of nursing experience and management roles, as well as development of a managed care program for the state's largest insurer, a national utilization review and case management program, medical-legal file reviews and working with both indemnity and stop-loss products.

With more than 25 years experience, Chris Larson leads the firm with a constant eye on innovation and improvement. As a mechanical engineer, he is current with the issues of building systems design, including indoor air quality, ASHRAE standards, CFC usage, mold prevention, and green building practices. His experience in complex design, as well as HVAC construction and design-build production, brings cost-effective, practical and innovative options to the firm's projects. A strong business background provides Chris the perspective needed for managing a company in today's economy. His business values are reflected in our continuous application of computer science and technology to enhance product quality and the efficiency of design production. Chris has a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Kansas and a B.S. in business administration from the University of Colorado. He is licensed in 40 states and the District of Columbia.

Diane joined Cairnstone in June 1996 where she wore multiple hats assisting with establishing and maintaining the company's administrative operations. In July 1999 Diane was promoted to Manager of Policy Issue. She works with our field offices, TPAs and brokers to obtain the necessary documents and information for the timely issuance of Cairnstone's policies. Diane was born and raised on the island of Trinidad and moved to the US in 1981. She along with her husband and children became US citizens in 1999.

Jeana Kidd, RN joined Cairnstone's outstanding team of professional nurse's in December 2005. With over 25 years in the healthcare/insurance industry, Jeana is a valuable addition to the Cairnstone team. Previously she has worked with both BCS and National Benefit Resources as a Medical Management Consultant based in Minneapolis, MN. In this role she worked closely with the underwriters and claims analysts by assisting in risk analysis, medical management and claim oversight, as well as acting as a resource in these areas for affiliated TPA's. Jeana's background also includes experience in many areas of acute care, case management and utilization review.

Nemi was hired as Cairnstone's Financial Analyst in October 1996 and promoted to Manager of Finance in January 2000. As Manager of Finance, her duties include the handling of all financial transactions as well as overseeing the premium area. Nemi acquired her experience in accounting, office management and the insurance field during 10 years of employment at Connecticut Mutual Life where she was the Office Manager in charge of three locations. Her experience with different accounting software applications, payroll issues, business tax filings and producer compensation has proven invaluable to Cairnstone in establishing and implementing its accounting procedures.

Terry joined Cairnstone in May of 2001 as Marketing Coordinator. Since the beginning, she has contributed her experience in several areas of the company. In January of 2003, Terry was promoted to Manager of MIS and Communications. She is responsible for overseeing the company's telephone and data accounts and systems, business recovery plans and develops marketing materials for the various Cairnstone products and services.

Bill began his career at Cairnstone in February of 1997 as a Claims Analyst in the Pittsburgh office. His close proximity to our clients, his considerable claims knowledge and his customer service skills have been a great asset to this office. Prior to joining Cairnstone, Bill was a Business Manager with Metropolitan Life's Group Health Division, where he worked on self-funded as well as fully insured cases. He has been in the health insurance industry for over 25 years. Bill holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Ohio University.

Jason joined Cairnstone in April 2006 as a Marketing Underwriter in the Dallas Office. He has 13 years of experience in the self funded insurance industry. Prior to joining Cairnstone, he was a Senior Underwriter with HCC Benefits for 10 years. His sales territory includes California, Nevada, and Arizona.

Kathy joined Cairnstone Re in October 2006 as a Marketing Underwriter. She brings with her over 17 years of experience in the Stop Loss Reinsurance industry. Kathy has underwritten on behalf of such carriers as Sun Life, Allianz Life, Zurich American Life and Standard Security Life Insurance Company of New York. Active in the industry, Kathy is a member of both the Local and National Association of Health Underwriters, the Self Insurance Institute of America and holds a designation in the Health Insurance Association of America. Kathy's marketing territory are the states of Indiana and Tennessee.

Milo Ramos joined Cairnstone in May 1996 as Senior Claims Analyst. Prior to joining Cairnstone, Milo was at John Alden Life and worked with self-funded, fully insured and HMO reinsurance products. With over 20 years of health insurance experience, Milo has worked with various types of claim related processes including first dollar, reinsurance and international claims. At Cairnstone, Milo handles specific and aggregate claims, monitors reserves and services customer inquiries and correspondence. She interacts daily with TPA's, brokers and interdepartmental staff. In addition to her varied insurance background, Milo has a very unique personal background. Born in Cienfuegos, Cuba Milo immigrated to the United States in 1982. She obtained her high school degree from Jorge Luis Estrada University in 1979 and completed two years of college at the Colegio de Economia de Cienfuegos, majoring in economics. While visiting Mexico on a tourist visa, Milo crossed the Mexican boarder into California and applied for political asylum. She was determined to succeed and immediately applied for legal residency, which was granted in 1987. Milo is fluent in Spanish and English. She enjoys helping other Cuban immigrants by providing assistance in obtaining housing, education and filing of documents.

Tara joined Cairnstone in 1997 as a Claims Analyst. She has over 10 years of experience in the health insurance industry. Prior to joining Cairnstone, Tara worked at John Alden Life Insurance and Kemper National Services. At John Alden, she handled the claims and customer service for conversion policies and then worked in the International insurance division as a Senior Claims Examiner dealing with foreign claims, translating medical services and currency. At Kemper National Services, she was an Auditor/Trainer where she was responsible for training and auditing all claims examiners and customer services representatives. At Cairnstone, Tara interacts daily with TPAs and builds good relationships with their case management staff.
