Mr. Foy is Chairman of the Board of California Water Service Group and its subsidiaries. Mr. Foy retired as an executive officer and employee director at the 2007 Annual Meeting in accordance with California Water Service Group's retirement policy. Mr. Foy is standing for reelection as a non-employee director. He was formerly president and chief executive officer of Pacific Storage Company, a diversified transportation, warehousing and business and record management company with offices throughout Northern California; he remains an owner and director of that company. He has served as Chairman of California Water Service Group since January 1, 1996. He serves as a member of the San Jose State University College of Business Advisory Board.
Ms. Hill is the president of B. Hill Enterprises, LLC, a consulting firm specializing in corporate governance and board organization and public policy issues. She is also co-founder of Icon Blue, a brand marketing company. From 1997 to 2001, she was president and chief executive officer of Times Mirror Foundation and senior vice president, communications and public affairs, of The Los Angeles Times. She is a director of AK Steel Holdings Corp., Home Depot, Inc., and Yum Brands, Inc. She is also a director of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Investor Education Foundation and the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE).
Mr. Brown is lead director and a resident of the State of New Mexico. He is the former treasurer for the State of New Mexico. From 1999 to 2005, he was president and chief executive officer of Tuition Plan Consortium and from 1990 to 1999, he was president and chief executive officer of Talbot Financial Services. He is also a former trustee of Stanford University and former regent of the University of New Mexico.
Dr. Harris is the George DeForest Barnett professor of medicine, emeritus, at Stanford University Medical Center. He is the Academic Secretary Emeritus to Stanford University. He is a director of the Genentech Research and Educational Foundation. He is also the executive secretary of Alpha Omega Alpha, the National Medical Honor Society, and editor of The Pharos. He is a Master of the American College of Rheumatology, a Master of the American College of Physicians and a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (London).
Prior to his present role, Guiles was president of SDG&E from 1997 to 2000. He also served as executive vice president of Enova Corp., the parent company of SDG&E, from January to June 1998. Before that, Guiles was senior vice president of Enova Corp. from 1996 to 1997. In this role, he oversaw the regulatory process and transition planning for the merger of Enova Corp. and Pacific Enterprises. From 1993 to 1997, Guiles served as senior vice president of Energy Supply for SDG&E, overseeing the company's procurement, generation and transmission of electricity and natural gas. These responsibilities included operation of the company's power plants, as well as administration of its 20-percent ownership of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station. Guiles was also responsible for the company's natural gas pipeline transmission system. Guiles, who joined SDG&E in 1972, has held a range of jobs in engineering, power-plant management, natural gas operations, customer service, and business planning and budgeting. He serves on the California Chamber of Commerce Board and the San Diego County YMCA Board. Guiles is a 1987 LEAD San Diego graduate and, in 2004, he received the LEAD Graduate of the Year Award. He is also a member of the Los Angeles World Affairs Council. Guiles' past affiliations include planning commissioner for the city of Chula Vista, director of the Arthritis Foundation, board member of the Wellness Communities and San Diego Development Council boards, as well as a number of fund-raising jobs for the United Way and Boy Scouts. Guiles has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Arizona and is a graduate of the executive programs at the University of Southern California and the Edison Electric Institute.
