Calip Dairies Inc.

Richard E. Smith has served as a director of Response Genetics since December 1999. Currently, Mr. Smith is the Co-Chairman, Co-Chief Executive Officer and a director of CoolBrands International, Inc. since March 1998. Under Mr. Smith's leadership, CoolBrands International, Inc. has become a major international marketer of consumer products under a portfolio of leading brands, including Tropicana, Welch's, Weight Watchers Smart Ones and Eskimo Pie, as well as a leading supplier to foodservice customers, the operator and franchiser of full-service restaurants and frozen dessert outlets in 82 countries, and the manufacturer of flavors, ingredients and flexible packaging products. Mr. Smith was Co-President of CoolBrands International, Inc. from March 1998 to February 2000, and was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Integrated Brands, Inc. from October 1985 to March 1998. Mr. Smith has also been the Chairman and Secretary of Calip Dairies, Inc. for more than the past five years. Mr. Smith received a B.A. degree from Ohio University, and continued his postgraduate studies in marketing at Pace College, and in law at Syracuse University School of Law.
