The Company, a Delaware corporation, is the successor of a Michigan corporation of the same name, originally organized in 1906, which in turn was the successor of a footwear business established in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1883. Approximately 46.6 million pairs of the Companys branded footwear were sold during fiscal 2008, making the Company a global leader among footwear companies in the marketing of branded casual, work and outdoor footwear. The Companys products generally feature contemporary styling with proprietary technologies designed to provide maximum comfort and performance. The products are marketed throughout the world under widely recognized brand names, including Bates ® , Cat ® Footwear, Chaco ® , Cushe ® , Harley-Davidson ® Footwear, Hush Puppies ® , HyTest ® , Merrell ® , Patagonia ® Footwear, Sebago ® and Wolverine ® .
