Dr David Fyfe, a 30-year veteran of the global chemical and engineering industries, joined CDT as Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer in September 2000.

After submitting his PhD thesis titled 'The Physical Processes in Organic Semiconductor Polymer Devices', Dr Burroughes discovered that conjugated polymers such as polyphenylene vinylene could show electroluminescence. A patent was filed by Burroughes and his research fellows shortly afterwards. With more than ten years' research experience in conjugated polymer science and semiconductor technologies, Dr Burroughes joined CDT in 1997 to manage its new research group. After holding the position of Technical Director for two years he was promoted to Product Business Unit Director in 2000, and then CTO in November 2001. Previously, Burroughes spent six years with Toshiba in the UK and Japan where he worked on quantum electronic and opto-electronic devices fabricated using GaAs or InP regrowth technology.

Emma Jones is responsible for leading the Human Resources function as well as managing the facilities functions in the UK. Prior to joining CDT, Ms Jones was head of Human Resources at Amgen Limited, where she was responsible for the management of the Human Resources function for the UK subsidiary of Amgen Inc, a US bio-pharmaceutical company. Jones has a BA (Hons) degree in Business Studies from the University of Sheffield.

Stephen Chandler joined CDT in 2003 as Vice President, Legal & Intellectual Property, responsible for all legal and intellectual property matters, and for developing CDT's intellectual property strategy. Prior to joining CDT, Mr. Chandler was a partner at law firm Pinsent Curtis Biddle between 1985 and 2003, being Head of Technology & Media and Head of Intellectual Property from 1999. Chandler joined Pinsent Curtis as an Associate in 1980, having gained an MA degree in Law from Cambridge University.

Dr. Karl Heeks is Director of the System Engineering Business Unit at Cambridge Display Technology. He has over ten years experience in flat panel display technology first at GEC in LCDs and, for the last five years, in the area of LEPs at CDT. Dr. Heeks has filed about thirty patents in the field.

Dr. Eric Mayes is Senior Commercial Product Manager at Cambridge Display Technology (CDT) and has over a decade of experience in the electronic materials industry. He was a founding director of Apaclara and, prior to joining CDT, served as CEO of NanoMagnetics which developed high-density magnetic media for the data storage industry alongside a diversified materials portfolio. Eric is also a non-executive director of IMPACT Faraday Ltd. (now part of CIKTN), and has a BSc in Physics from Arkansas State University and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Bath.

Frank K. Bynum, Jr. Mr. Bynum, age 43, has served as a director of our company since July 1997. He is also a Managing Director of Kelso & Company. Mr. Bynum joined Kelso & Company in 1987 and has held positions of increasing responsibility at Kelso & Company prior to becoming a Managing Director. Mr. Bynum is a director of CDT Holdings PLC, Custom Buildings Products, Inc., Endurance Business Media, Inc. and eMarkets, Inc. He is also a Trustee of Prep for Prep and a member of the Board of Trustees of the College Foundation of the University of Virginia. Mr. Bynum was initially designated to the board of directors by Kelso & Company pursuant to Kelso & Company s designation rights under our stockholders agreement which was terminated in connection with our initial public offering. Kelso & Company currently has certain rights with respect to the nomination of directors. James V Sandry has served as a member of CDT's board of directors since November 2004. From April 1996 to April 2002 Mr. Sandry held the post of Chief Financial Officer of iXL Enterprises, an internet consulting company, Online Insight Inc, a software development company, VCG Inc., a software development company and Ted's Montana Grill, a restaurant company. Since November 2002, Mr. Sandry has been Chief Operating Officer of JVS Industries LLC, a privately held furniture rental company and a franchisee of Aaron Rents.
