Bill is a Senior Researcher with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) where his work focuses on promoting the development of innovative building technologies, green building practices and sustainable development with a focus on projects in the Canadian far north. With training in architecture, construction and planning, Bill has worked in the building industry for over 25 years. Throughout his career, Bill has been a strong promoter of environmental and cultural sustainability bringing these values to his work in design, construction, building science, and environmental planning projects. As a builder and consultant, Bill operated a business specializing in timber frame construction, passive solar and energy efficient buildings, and building research. As an architect, in addition to his work domestically in the housing industry, he has worked extensively on international development projects in Tibet, China, India and Thailand. Bill has a Bachelor Degree in Environment and Resource Studies from the University of Waterloo, a Masters Degree in Architecture from the University of Calgary, and is a licensed carpenter. Bill is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC), is the founder and past chair of the CaGBC Residential Committee, and is member of the LEED for Homes Committee of the U.S. Green Building Council.

Garnet Kindervater is a multi award winning builder/renovator with 30 years of experience. He is past President of the national Canadian Home Builders Association, past President of the Eastern Newfoundland Home Builders Association and is a member of Canada Mortgage & Housing Corporation's (CMHC) International Training Team. In 1998, he won a Canadian Home Builders' Association National Sam Award in the Home Renovation Award category over $ 100,000. He was Eastern Newfoundland Home Builders' Association Builder of the Year in 1990 and 1999, Renovator of the Year and Member of the Year in 1991, 2003 & 2005. In 2004, Garnet also received the Canadian Renovators Council Award for making a significant contribution to the renovation industry and for demonstrating exemplary leadership qualities. In 2005 he was the recipient of Canadian Home Builders Association's Gordon S. Shipp Award in recognition of outstanding contribution to the Residential Construction industry in Canada. In addition to being an active builder, in the mid-1990's Garnet worked in the development of energy retrofit and new construction projects in Lithuania. He is also involved with the Atlantic Home Builder Training Board and has served as an industry trainer since 1991. As a member of CMHC's International Training Team since 1999, he has delivered seminars on Canada's home construction technology in many international locations including China, Iceland and the USA. He was Project Manager for a Newfoundland model Super E home project in Selfoss, Iceland. This home commenced construction in October of 2004 and was completed in August of 2005 as the first Super E certified home in Iceland. This home will serve as a showcase for Super E Technology in that country.
