Mr. Fairbank began his career in 1981 with Strategic Planning Associates, spending a total of seven years consulting in different industries. Based on his belief that information and technology would change the world of consumer marketing, Mr. Fairbank developed the idea that would ultimately become the hallmark of Capital One®—its Information Based Strategy (IBS). IBS combines the power of information, technology and testing to bring customized solutions to consumers. Mr. Fairbank recruited fellow SPA consultant, Nigel Morris, to help find a sponsor for IBS in the credit card industry. In 1988, Richmond, Virginia-based Signet Bank agreed to implement the strategy. In 1994, Signet decided to spin-off its credit card business as Capital One Financial Corporation, and Mr. Fairbank became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Capital One. Capital One rapidly became one of the largest credit card issuers in the United States. Over the years, Capital One expanded into new products and markets and created one of the most recognized brands in the United States. Today, Capital One is a diversified Fortune 500 company with nearly 50 million accounts world-wide offering a wide variety of financial services, including credit cards, auto loans, installment loans, small business loans, home equity loans, and savings products. Throughout his career, Mr. Fairbank has received many honors and awards including being named "Best CEO" in specialty finance by Institutional Investor magazine and "Business Leader of the Year" by Washingtonian Magazine. Since February 2004, Mr. Fairbank has served as a Director on MasterCard International's Global Board of Directors. Prior to that, Mr. Fairbank served on the U.S. Region Board of Directors of MasterCard from March of 1995 until February 2004, serving as its Chairman from March of 2002 until February of 2004. Mr. Fairbank graduated from Stanford University with a degree in economics and received an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Mr. Berson joined Capital One in 1992 and became President, Financial Services in December 2007. Prior to his current role, Mr. Berson served as President, U.S. Card and in a variety of other roles in Capital One’s credit card business.

Ms. Pike joined Capital One in April 2007 as Chief Operating Officer for the Banking Segment and became President, Banking in August 2007. Ms. Pike has over 30 years of banking and community development expertise. She joined Capital One from Bank of America Corporation, where she served from April 2004 to April 2007 as president of Business Banking and as president of Bank of America California. Ms. Pike also serves as a director of Capital One, National Association and Chevy Chase Bank, F.S.B.

Mr. Schneider joined Capital One in December 2001 and became President, Card in December 2007. Mr. Schneider is responsible for all of Capital One’s consumer credit card lines of business, including those in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada. Prior to his current role, Mr. Schneider held a variety of positions including President, Auto Finance and Executive Vice President, US Card Upmarket. Mr. Schneider also serves as a director of Capital One Bank (USA), National Association.

Mr. Perlin joined Capital One in July 2003. He is the Chief Financial Officer of Capital One and is responsible for Capital One’s corporate finance, corporate accounting and reporting, planning and financial risk management, treasury and investor relations functions. Mr. Perlin also serves as a director of Capital One, National Association, Capital One Bank (USA), National Association, and Chevy Chase Bank, F.S.B.

Mr. Schnall joined Capital One in August 1996. He is Chief Risk Officer and is responsible for overseeing Capital One’s credit, compliance, operational and enterprise risk management functions. Mr. Schnall has served as Chief Risk Officer since June 2006. From October 2002 until 2006, he served as Chief Credit Officer.

Dean Young is a project manager operating from VPMEP's Richmond office. Dean has over 19 years of expertise gained from progressive management roles in a variety of industries. Prior to joining VPMEP, he was a third party consultant delivering services to our clients. As a VPMEP third party consultant through his own company, Young Consulting LLC, Dean provided operations management support in lean supply chain management to Northrop Grumman Newport News Shipbuilding including project management for their Supplier Continuous Improvement program and strategic development of a Lean Supply Chain. Dean's diverse work experiences include positions as: senior project manager for Capital One Financial Corporation; director of operations services for Maxxim Medical; operations manager for General Medical Corporation; supervisor of operations for General Medical Manufacturing Company; inventory manager for Weidmuller Incorporated; and purchasing agent/production planner for Rego Company of Elon College, NC. Dean holds a BS in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Virginia Tech. He is certified as a NIST MEP LEAN instructor in Lean Principles, Value Stream Mapping and Lean Supply Chain Logistics as well as being certified as a Jonah in the Theory of Constraints.

Mr. Finneran joined Capital One in September 1994. He is General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, and is responsible for managing Capital One’s legal, governmental affairs, corporate governance, brand, regulatory relations and corporate affairs departments. He also manages Capital One’s internal audit department for administrative purposes.

Leah Hudson is a McCormick Group Consultant specializing in Law and Government Affairs. Leah conducts associate and partner searches for law firms, as well as in-house counsel searches for corporate legal departments and other organizations in the Greater Washington area as well as nationally. In addition, Leah regularly represents attorneys who desire to make a change in their careers. Leah came to The McCormick Group after three years as Assistant General Counsel for Capital One Financial Corporation in McLean, Va., where she counseled the company in connection with its funding and other strategic transactions. Before that, she was a corporate and securities associate with Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld in Washington, D.C. and with Balch & Bingham in Birmingham, Ala. Leah received her joint JD/MBA degree from Wake Forest University. She received her A.B. from Duke University.

Lewis Hay III, 52, is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of FPL Group, Inc., a public utility holding company, and is Chairman of both Florida Power and Light Company and FPL Energy, LLC. He joined FPL Group in 1999 as Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer. From March 2000 until December 2001, he served as President of FPL Groupa s competitive energy subsidiary, FPL Energy, LLC. He was named President and Chief Executive Officer of FPL Group in June 2001 and relinquished the title of President in December 2006. He was named Chairman in January 2002. Mr. Hay has been a member of our Board since February 2002 and is Chairperson of the Corporate Governance Committee and a member of the Audit Committee. In addition to being a director of FPL Group, Mr. Hay is also a director of Capital One Financial Corporation, Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, a director of the Florida Council of 100, a member of the Business Roundtable and a member of the Business Board of Advisors of the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University.

Mayo Shattuck was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Constellation Energy Group effective November 1, 2001, and was elected Chairman of the Board in July 2002. Prior to joining Constellation Energy, he was with Deutsche Bank, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown and, during his tenure, served as Global Head of Investment Banking and Global Head of Private Banking. From 1997 to 1999, he served as Vice Chairman of Bankers Trust Corporation, which merged with Deutsche Bank in June 1999. From 1991 until 1997, Mr. Shattuck was President and Chief Operating Officer and a Director of Alex. Brown Inc., which merged with Bankers Trust in September 1997. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Williams College and his Master of Business Administration degree from Stanford University where he graduated as an Arjay Miller Scholar. Mr. Shattuck has received an honorary Doctor of Public Service degree from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Mayo Shattuck currently serves as a Director of Gap Inc. and is Chairman of its Audit and Finance Committee and is a Director of Capital One Financial Corporation and is Chairman of its Compensation Committee. Mr. Shattuck is a member of the board of the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), and is Vice Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO). He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Johns Hopkins Medicine and Chairman of the Board of Visitors of the University of Maryland Baltimore County.
