Dow Jones Description

Carrizo pumps the gas and oil that keeps cars running. Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Houston, TX, Carrizo Oil & Gas, Inc. (NASDAQ-GS: CRZO) is a developer and producer of natural gas and oil. In the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast region as well as in northern Texas, it uses 3-D seismic data to arrange lease options on deep, over-pressured targets, which often require higher costs but have greater yields. The company has proven reserves of 109 billion cubic feet of natural gas equivalent. It employs about 50 people and it had 2005 revenue of about $78.2 million. In May 2006, the company completed preliminary drilling in the Barnett Shale field of Texas which it considers to be one of the most active gas opportunities in Texas.
