Thomas B. Okarma, Ph.D., M.D., has served as our President, Chief Executive Officer and a member of our board of directors since July 1999. He is also a director of Geron Bio-Med Limited, a United Kingdom company and Geron's wholly-owned subsidiary, and TA Therapeutics, Ltd., a Hong Kong company and Geron's majority-owned subsidiary. From May 1998 until July 1999, Dr. Okarma was the Vice President of Research and Development. From December 1997 until May 1998, Dr. Okarma was Vice President of Cell Therapies. Dr. Okarma currently serves on the Board of BIO and was Chairman of the Board of Overseers of Dartmouth Medical School from 2000 to 2007. David J. Earp, J.D. Ph.D., has served as our Senior Vice President of Business Development and Chief Patent Counsel since May 2004. Jane S. Lebkowski, Ph.D., has served as our Senior Vice President, Chief Scientific Officer, Regenerative Medicine since 2009 and Senior Vice President of Regenerative Medicine since January 2004. Melissa A. Kelly Behrs has served as our Senior Vice President, Therapeutic Development, Oncology since January 2007. Katharine E. Spink, Ph.D., has served as our Vice President of Operations, Regenerative Medicine Programs since February 2009. Lynda L. Wijcik, Chairman, is Managing Partner of BioBridge LLC. From January 1995 to September 2006 Ms. Wijcik consulted, invested and assisted companies in financings as a managing partner of her consulting firm Biobridge Associates. Alex is a Managing Director of Prospect Venture Partners. Prior to co-founding Prospect Venture Partners I, II and III, Alex was a Partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) from 1991 to 1997 where he focused on health care product company investments in the drug, device, and diagnostic sectors. Additionally, during his tenure at KPCB, Alex served as the founding CEO of two pioneering biotechnology companies, Geron (NASDAQ:GERN) and Connective Therapeutics, which became a Connetics, a NASDAQ listed specialty pharmaceutical company. For both of these companies, Alex worked with the scientific founders to develop the companies' initial business plans, in-license key enabling technology and products, recruit world class scientific talent and advisory board members, secure significant milestone-driven venture financing, and recruit experienced senior executive management teams. Prior to KPCB, Alex was a founder and CEO of BioBridge Associates, a health care industry consulting firm from 1989 to 1991. From 1987 to 1989, he served as the Director of Technology Development at Advanced Biosearch Associates, a regulatory affairs advisory firm where he focused on medical product commercialization and medical device regulatory strategy. Alex's research experience was gained at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the Genetics Department at the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children, the Whitehead Institute at MIT, and Duke University. Alex is currently Chairman of the Board of Geron (NASDAQ: GERN) and Tercica (NASDAQ: TRCA), and serves or has served on the Board of Directors of Amicus (NASDAQ: FOLD), Archemix, Connetics (now Stiefel Laboratories, Inc.), and of Complete Genomics, Inc., NeoMend, Novacept (now NASDAQ: CYTC), SurgRx, Transave, Verus Pharmaceuticals, Zelos Therapeutics and several other privately held companies. Alex received a Ph.D. in Biology from New York University and a B.A. in Biology from Brandeis University, where he currently is Chairman of the University Science Advisory Council and serves on the Board of Trustees.

Lance Willsey, MD has served as a director since May 2000. Dr. Willsey was a founding partner of DCF Capital from July 1998 to April 2002. From July 1997 to July 1998, Dr. Willsey served on the Staff Department of Urologic Oncology at Dana Farber Cancer Institute at Harvard University School of Medicine. From July 1996 to July 1997, Dr. Willsey served on the Staff Department of Urology at Massachusetts General Hospital at Harvard University School of Medicine, where he was a urology resident from July 1992 to July 1996. Dr. Willsey is also a director of Exelixis, Inc. Dr. Willsey holds a BS in physiology from Michigan State University and an MS in biology and an MD from Wayne State University. Patrick J. Zenner has served as a director since March 2003. In January 2001, Mr. Zenner retired from Hoffmann-La Roche Inc., North America, the prescription drug unit of the Roche Group, a leading research-based health care enterprise, where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer since 1993, and was a member of the global Pharmaceutical Executive Committee. Mr. Zenner joined Hoffmann-La Roche Inc. as a sales representative in 1969 and subsequently held a series of marketing and business development posts that culminated in his being named Vice President and General Manager of Roche Laboratories in 1982. He later spent two and a half years with Roche Holding Ltd. as head of international pharmaceutical marketing, development and regulation. In 1988, Mr. Zenner was elected to Hoffmann-La Roche's Executive Committee and Board of Directors, and appointed Senior Vice President of the pharmaceutical division. Mr. Zenner also serves as a director of ArQule, Inc., Curagen Corporation, Dendrite International, Inc., First Horizon Pharmaceuticals Corporation, Genta Inc., Geron Corporation, Praecis Pharmaceuticals, Inc, West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. and Xoma Ltd. Mr. Zenner holds a BS in business administration from Creighton University and an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is a Trustee of both universities.
