In his role as senior vice president and chief information officer (CIO), Darko Hrelic leads the Strategic Technology Group in ensuring that Gartner fully leverages the capabilities of technology to deliver exceptional value to clients, and further develops its technical infrastructure to support long-term corporate growth objectives. Hrelic joined Gartner from Automatic Data Processing (ADP) where, as vice president and chief technology officer of Employer Services, he led all aspects of the company's technical strategy, architecture and technology. He played an instrumental role in driving ADP's service-oriented architecture vision and strategy. Prior to joining ADP, Hrelic spent 21 years at IBM, most of which were at the renowned TJ Watson Research Center, working in such areas as videotext, high-speed communications and electronic commerce. He also helped form the IBM Internet Division in the mid-1990s, where he spearheaded the technical strategy for e-commerce-or "e-business" as it is known today. In 2000, Hrelic helped found e2open.com, a consortium in the high-tech industry electronic marketplace. Hrelic holds a master's degree in computer science from Stevens Institute of Technology.

Prior to joining Gartner, Dr. Tully worked with Racal Electronics, initially as a system architect and engineering manager focusing on computer networking. He later moved into EDA-specific functions, assuming worldwide marketing responsibility. Before this, he held design and design management roles within the Armstrong Organization (now Mitsubishi), Ferranti Limited, the U.K. Atomic Energy Authority and Rediffusion Cable TV. In these roles, he specified and designed a wide range of electronic components and systems in areas ranging from computers and communications systems to videoconferencing equipment.

Alwyn Dawkins is senior vice president, Gartner Events, the world's leading IT conference provider. He is responsible for ensuring profitable growth of the events business by delivering a client-focused experience to the 44,000 business and technology professionals who attend the company's 62 conferences and symposia held around the world each year. Previously at Gartner, Dawkins was group vice president, Asia/Pacific sales, based in Sydney, Australia. In this role, he led the company's research and advisory services business across the Asia/Pacific region, which became the highest-performing region in sales revenue in the company. Prior to this role, Dawkins was group vice president, Gartner Events, where he held global responsibility for exhibit and sponsorship sales across the extensive portfolio of Gartner events. During this time, annual revenue from sponsorship and exhibit sales increased 100%. Dawkins joined Gartner in 2002 after 10 years at Richmond Events, culminating in his role as executive vice president responsible for their North American business. Dawkins began his events career at Trinity Publishing and Exhibitions, which was later acquired by DMG (Daily Mail Group) World Media. Dawkins holds a bachelor's degree in applied economics from the University of London.

As senior vice president, Global Sales, Tim Noble's primary objective is to ensure that Gartner revenue continues to grow. He is committed to increasing sales force capacity and providing the necessary tools and training to sustain a high-performance sales force that builds and maintains valuable relationships with clients. Previously at Gartner, Noble was group vice president of the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) sales region. While managing the EMEA sales force, he instituted key productivity management metrics and forecasting models that drove consistent growth throughout the region. He has also managed the Americas inside sales force based in Fort Myers, Fla., and led the U.K. and Ireland region. Noble began his career at Gartner as an account executive in the U.K. Before joining Gartner, Noble was managing director of a U.K.-based distributor for New Science Associates, a company acquired by Gartner in 1993. Noble holds a law degree from the University of Buckingham in the U.K.

Carol Rozwell is a vice president and distinguished analyst on Gartner's Social Software and Collaboration team. Ms. Rozwell explores the dynamics of collaboration including social networks, communities and learning. Prior to her current assignment, Ms. Rozwell focused her research on technology and standards for R&D productivity in the pharmaceutical industry. She joined Gartner during the e-business frenzy and helped clients electrify their business processes. She brings to her role extensive practical experience as an implementer of buy-side and sell-side e-commerce systems that is augmented by positions in marketing, consulting and strategic alliance management.

David Cearley is a vice president and distinguished analyst in Gartner Research and is a leading authority on information technology. As a member of Gartner Research, Mr. Cearley analyzes emerging business and technology trends and explores how these trends shape the way individuals and companies derive value from technology.

Before this, Mr. Feinberg held various management jobs within Gartner, most recently vice president and general manager of Latin America operations. Mr. Feinberg began his career at Gartner in the Software Management Strategies group responsible for DBMS engines and vendors. Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Feinberg was director of technical marketing for Oracle Corporation?s IBM mainframe database business. In this capacity, he was responsible for technical sales and marketing support of the products worldwide. Previously, Mr. Feinberg was an assistant professor of mathematics at Boston University. Jackie Fenn is a vice president and Gartner fellow in Gartner Research. Ms. Fenn focuses on emerging technology management issues and emerging trends. Areas of particular focus include: 1) models for prioritizing technology investments ? Ms. Fenn has created numerous models and frameworks for examining trends and technologies, and she is the originator of the Gartner Hype Cycle model, which has been adopted by the press and organizations worldwide to explain how technologies move from hype to disillusionment and beyond to eventual maturity; 2) best practices in establishing and running an advanced technology group or function ? Ms. Fenn works with commercial and government organizations to establish effective ways to track, prioritize, evaluate and transfer emerging technologies, with a particular focus on ensuring that the technologies are applied to key business priorities; 3) emerging trends and technologies ? James Lundy is the managing vice president and a distinguished analyst for the Collaboration and Social Software team in Gartner Research. Mr. Lundy focuses on virtual environments, general collaboration topics and e-learning. The group he oversees provides written research and advisory services on e-mail, instant messaging, Web conferencing, social software and team collaboration.

Mr. Monroe has been involved with disk drive sales, product management and market analysis for more than 27 years. Unlike many analysts, Mr. Monroe has had extensive experience as a business line manager, responsible for the profitable purchase and resale of disk and tape products. Prior to joining Gartner in October 1997, Mr. Monroe spent seven years as vice president of storage products at SYNNEX Information Technologies (where, among other duties, he coordinated the flow of more than 2 million hard disk drives per year), two years as director of North American sales and marketing for Kalok Corporation, five years as vice president of OEM products and sales for Media Winchester Ltd., and three years as a general manager at Electrolabs, a small distribution company, where he began his electronics career in 1980 by selling hybrid integrated circuits and 8-inch floppy disk drives.

Dr. Collins has more than 20 years of research experience, including two academic post-doctoral appointments. Mr. Beyer has extensive experience in IT project and program delivery utilizing multiple project management and systems design methodologies. Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Beyer worked as an implementation consultant delivering enterprise analytics and data warehousing with direct field experience for BearingPoint, Ascential Software, Ardent Software and Prism Solutions since 1997. He is a data integration services architect as well as an experienced data modeler with expertise in deriving physical database design from logical models. Industry solutions delivered include investor-owned utilities, wholesale/distribution, retail manufacturing, insurance, medical supplies, construction, consumer packaged goods, logistics management and point-of-sale analysis. His experience includes the design and deployment of e-commerce solutions using Java beans, EJB and JSP, as well as ASP solutions. Mr. Beyer was an energy industry consultant from 1989 through 1997 coordinating the design and implementation of primary data collection systems to support investor-owned utility company research, US/DOE research, and energy industry consortiums. He has direct expertise in multiple project methodologies, project management, business intelligence solution design, business process definition, logical data modeling, physical database design, ETL architectures, XML utilization, real-time data warehousing and operational data stores.

Matt Cain is a vice president at Gartner, where he is the lead e-mail analyst. His coverage includes all collaboration modalities as well as collaboration theory. He is the creator of the concept of "contextual collaboration," which forecasts the marriage of collaboration services and business processes. Mr. Cain is co-author of "Strategies in Business Collaboration Management."

Ray Wagner, Ph.D., is managing vice president of the secure business enablement group, which is part of the Information Security and Privacy research organization of Gartner Research. Mr. Wagner focuses on a wide range of security issues, including identity and access management, Web services security, public-key infrastructures, digital rights management, the information security organization, and information security issues within emerging technologies.

Prior to joining Gartner, Rita was an independent consultant in publishing system development for commercial enterprises and the U.S. military. Previous to that, she headed a Lockheed advanced research and development group on user interface, artificial intelligence, and military command and control.

Prior to joining Gartner, Ms. Witty managed the global technology risk management function for the corporate trust business of The Chase Manhattan Bank. In this role, she was responsible for awareness, advisory and compliance services regarding the business implementation of IT control policies, including information security, business continuity and Y2K business resumption planning. Before joining Chase, she was the information security officer for ING/New York, where her responsibilities included information security program development and implementation, security administration, and business continuity planning. Prior to ING, Ms. Witty held information security positions at the heritage organizations of both Chase and Chemical Bank.

Spencer J. McIlmurray,Founder, is a Darien resident, is currently employed as a Vice President and Executive Partner with Gartner, Incorporated, a Stamford-based company that provides research and consulting services to information systems organizations and vendors worldwide. In his current role, Mr. McIlmurray provides direct counsel to senior executives on the effective use of technology to support strategic goal attainment and enhance day-to-day operations performance. He has served as a trustee at King & Low-Heywood Thomas School in Stamford and also was a member of the President's Advisory Council at Norwalk Community College which successfully established the William H. Schwab Center for Information Technology at the school. Tiffani Bova is a Vice President of Research with Gartner covering the topics of IT indirect channel programs, sales, and go-to-market strategies world-wide. Ms. Bova area of specialization includes the development of comprehensive indirect channel programs, sales coverage and capacity planning, and the evolving partner business models. In addition, Ms. Bova conducts significant public speaking and publishing in leading industry periodicals on these topics. Toby Bell is a research VP for Gartner, the leading provider of global research and analysis on the information technology industry. Gartner serves more than 10,000 clients, including chief business and IT executives in corporations and government agencies, as well as technology companies and the investment community. Gartner focuses on delivering objective, in-depth analysis and actionable advice to enable clients to make more informed business and technology decisions. Mr. Bell is responsible for covering a range of analytics, business process, and content management technologies as well as vendors and trends in those marketplaces. He serves hundreds of clients primarily in the Financial Services, Government, Healthcare, and Manufacturing vertical markets. Prior to joining Gartner, Toby held key senior management positions at Andersen, Ernst & Young, and other business advisory services organizations, focused primarily on business intelligence, analytics and process improvement.

Yefim Natis is a vice president and Gartner distinguished analyst in Gartner Research. Mr. Natis' research focuses on enterprise software infrastructure, including such technologies as application servers, application platform suites, integration middleware and TP Monitors. Mr. Natis also researches the fundamental software architectures, including event-driven architecture, service-oriented architecture and Web services, COM/COM+, .NET, J2EE and CORBA.

David Coyle is a research director in the IT operations management team at Gartner. His research focuses on IT service and support including service desk, problem management, and service level agreement management. Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Coyle spend 9 years at Hyperion Solutions were he held several director-level positions within the infrastructure operations organization including managing IT support service in Europe while living in France. He was also a network and e-mail specialist at Taco Bell Corp.

Fabrizio Biscotti is a research director for the enterprise software team within the Technology & Service Provider Research organization. He is responsible for coverage of studies of the application integration and middleware markets from a worldwide perspective and with a focus on Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Mr. Biscotti is also responsible for coordinating and supervising market studies for the overall enterprise software marketplace in EMEA.

Joseph Unsworth is a research director with Gartner Technology and Service Provider group, where he covers NAND flash memory and its main applications, flash cards and USB flash drives and the emerging area of Solid-State Drives. Mr. Unsworth created the flash card, USB flash and solid-state drive research that includes comprehensive forecasting and market share analysis. He has expanded Gartner's NAND flash coverage to include related device technologies and is responsible for developing NAND flash supply and demand analysis. He also supports Gartner's semiconductor memories research.

Prior to joining Gartner in 1997, Dr. Drakos was a founding member of a pioneering Web development company and was responsible for several high-profile interactive and transactional Web sites for European clients. Previously, he was employed as a post-doctoral research fellow working on object-oriented programming, visual languages, artificial intelligence and Web technology. During that time, he also led the effort around one of the first Open Source Web publishing systems, which is still widely used today.

Steve Cramoysan is a research director with Gartner's Technology & Service Provider Research group. Mr. Cramoysan works with end-user companies, investors and vendor clients on issues and questions about enterprise communications. His expertise includes unified communications, telephony and contact centers, especially the application of speech and voice response technologies for call center automation.

He provides strategic advice to CIOs and other C-level executives, and contributes to consulting engagements focused on the management of IT, IT strategy, benchmarking and performance optimization, and strategic sourcing. Waern has extensive experience leading business growth and performance optimization in international markets. Prior to his current position, he held several senior leadership roles within Gartner Consulting, most recently leading the global Core Consulting organization with operations in North America, EMEA and Japan. Previously, Waern was responsible for consulting and measurement operations in Scandinavia, Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and also served as country leader for Germany. Before joining Gartner, Waern was head of corporate IT strategy at a $4 billon energy company. In this position, he initiated and led corporatewide IT initiatives, including application portfolio changes (ERP) and improving communications infrastructure. Prior to this role, Waern held the position of managing director at a data service company that offered a wide range of consulting, information system development and IT operational services. There, he led the integration of multiple IT organizations into one operational IT company, which resulted in significant cost savings. During his 20 years of industry experience, Waern has also held management positions in marketing, business development and operations. Prior to joining Gartner, Ms. Lapkin served as the senior vice president in charge of architectural framework and product architecture at Reuters. While at Reuters, she was responsible for the strategy and architecture for the renewal of the editorial infrastructure. She also spearheaded the development of a systematic approach to product architecture. Previously, Ms. Lapkin was a senior technologist at Capgemini. In addition to managing the architecture practice in the United States and leading many complex architecture and strategy engagements, she led a multinational team responsible for the development of the architecture community at Capgemini. This team was responsible for the development of standard methodologies, an architect certification program and architecture education initiatives.

Mr. Schulte co-authored the 1996 Gartner report that introduced the term SOA to the industry. He also originated research into the field of message brokers, coined the term business activity monitoring (BAM), and wrote the first analyst reports on the enterprise service bus (ESB).

Mr. Ouellet has worked in the networking and information security industry since 1990 and has strong operational and network security experience at all levels of the IT organization, including hands-on system implementations, technology architecture design, program management, and certification and accreditation activities. Prior to joining Gartner, he was responsible for the design and implementation of leading backbone networks and public key infrastructure deployments currently in use and for devising operational policies and procedures to meet leading governance requirements. Mr. Ouellet has consulted for financial, commercial, government, and military customers worldwide, and regularly speaks at leading networking and security conferences. He has developed and delivered CISSP training classes leading to the certification of more than 1,600 new CISSPs, and is a published author with McGraw-Hill and Syngress Publishing in the fields of monitoring, networking, and security.

Gary Smith gary@garysmitheda.com is the founder and Chief Analyst for Gary Smith EDA. Previously, he was the Managing Vice President and Chief Analyst of the Electronic Design Automation Service, Design & Engineering Cluster at Gartner Dataquest. Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Smith was a consultant in design methodology and the ASIC end of the semiconductor business. While at LSI Logic, Mr. Smith became an evangelist for the RT-level design methodology. Starting in the semiconductor industry, Mr. Smith was involved in some of the first attempts at customer-designed ICs. Mr. Smith earned his bachelor of science degree in engineering from the United States Naval Academy. He is a current member the Design TWG for the International Semiconductor Road Map (ITRS) and serves on the DAC Strategic Committee. He is past Chair of the IEEE Electronic Design Processes conference. Mr. Smith has been quoted and published numerous times in all the Electronics Publications including EE Times, EDN, Electronic Business in addition to the Wall Street Journal and Business Week.

John Dofter, Nemertes Senior Account Executive, has responsibility for business development within end-user IT organizations. For the past 10 years, Mr. Dofter has held sales and sales management positions with META Group and Gartner where he has both managed large client organizations and sold numerous new accounts. With over 25 years of experience selling to IT executives, Mr. Dofter brings an understanding of the IT research market and the needs of IT organizations. At META Group, Mr. Dofter had responsibility for a multi-state sales territory in the central U.S. that included 12 states from Texas to Ohio. He was the first sales person at META Group to exceed annual sales targets for five consecutive years, selling over thirty-five new accounts. In early 2005 he joined Gartner as part of the acquisition of META Group. Prior to META Group, Mr. Dofter held sales and sales management positions at Harris Computer, Prime Computer and other IT sales organizations.

Mr. Chin has more than 18 years of experience in a variety of business and IT roles. Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Chin was the worldwide director of strategic planning and business research at Eastman Kodak. He managed a global organization supporting the strategic planning, market planning, product development and merger and acquisition projects. He also has extensive experience in managing and implementing enterprise software infrastructure applications. He has held management positions in information systems, marketing and finance.

Mark is the Chief Marketing Officer of Liquid Computing. He has spent the last twenty years solving problems and significantly increasing the bottom line of clients worldwide. In addition to working for IBM, Intel, Gartner, PRTM, and several startups, Mark has had the privilege of working with over a hundred diverse clients - increasing their profits by over two billion dollars. In the process he has studied and solved many significant business questions, problems, and challenges. Mark also has a deep cross-functional operational understanding of enterprises. Prior to joining Liquid Computing, Mark founded McLiera Partners and managed Gartner's west coast vendor consulting practice. He has served on the Board of Directors of two technology companies, and holds an MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business, and an electrical engineering degree from North Carolina State University.

Mim Burt is a research director in the Gartner Retail Industry Advisory Services team, where she is responsible for identifying potential growth and research opportunities by following business and consumer technology markets and trends, covering retail consumer service, in-store and multichannel applications, and application of emerging technologies in retail. Her areas of expertise include in-store retail technologies in the U.K. and Europe, with point-of-sale applications being a key area of coverage. Ms. Burt also researches customer and retail business processeses and business and IT strategy.

Richard De Lotto is a principal analyst in Gartner's Banking and Securities Industry Advisory Service, where his work has centered on risk and the impact of legislation and regulations surrounding the uses of corporate, competitor and consumer information. He has most recently focused on the pricing optimization, green IT, technology and management aspects of the USA Patriot Act, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Financial Services Modernization Act and other banking issues. He has written for Gartner on subjects as diverse as security, privacy, money laundering, national identity cards, outsourcing, demographics, international trade, critical infrastructure protection, stakeholder relationship management and business continuity planning.

Roy Schulte is a vice president and Distinguished Analyst in Gartner Research on the Application Strategy and Governance team. His specialties include event processing and ESBs.

Smith has been a Director at Gartner since October 2002. Prior to becoming Chairman of the Board of First Health, he led the company through nearly 20 years of record growth and financial performance as President and CEO. Smith, who joined First Health in 1984, built the company into the nation's premier full-service national health benefits company, with revenues of nearly $600 million in 2001. Under Smith's leadership, First Health has been very successful in developing and maintaining long-term relationships with large national clients, maintaining a client retention rate of 96% over the last decade.

Karen E. Dykstra , 50, has been a director since July 2007. Ms. Dykstra has been a partner of Plainfield Asset Management LLC, a business development company located in Greenwich, Connecticut, since January 2007, and Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer and director of Plainfield Direct Inc., a registered investment company also located in Greenwich, Connecticut (a direct lending and investment business of Plainfield Asset Management LLC) since May 2006. Prior thereto, she spent several years with Automatic Data Processing, Inc., located in Roseland, New Jersey, most recently as Chief Financial Officer from January 2003 to May 2006, Vice President Finance from July 2001 to January 2003 and Corporate Controller from October 1998 to July 2001. Ms. Dykstra is also a director of Crane Co. and various private companies.

In his day job, Ralf is a Director at Gartner, the independent IT research and advisory firm. Over the last 10 years, he has held senior events management positions in global conferences group Informa/IBC, at Andersen and at event management agency Pci:Live. Born in Germany to Anglo-German parents, he spent the last few years in Boston, Washington DC and London. An aerospace technology engineer by training, he has a post-graduade Masters degree in European Studies. Over the last 15 years, he has been active in several associations, including AEGEE, Prometheus Networks, Europe 2020 and now Euronet.

Mr. Bressler joined Thomas H. Lee Partners as a Managing Director in 2006. From May 2001 through 2005, Mr. Bressler was the Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Viacom Inc. Before joining Viacom, Mr. Bressler was Executive Vice President of AOL Time Warner Inc. and Chief Executive Officer of AOL Time Warner Investments. Prior to that, Mr. Bressler served in various capacities with Time Warner Inc., including as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Time Warner Digital Media, and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Time Warner Inc. Before joining Time Inc., Mr. Bressler was a partner with Ernst & Young. Mr. Bressler serves on the Boards of Warner Music Group, Gartner, Inc. and American Media, Inc. In addition, he serves as Chairman for the Center for Communication Board, the Duke University Fuqua School of Business s Board of Visitors, New School University s Board of Trustees, the J.P.
