Ali F. AbuRahma, MD, RVT, RPVI joins the Board representing the Society for Vascular Surgery. Dr. AbuRahma is Co-Director for the Vascular Center of Excellence, Medical Director of the Vascular Laboratory, and Chief of Vascular Surgery at the Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston, WV. At the West Virginia University, he also serves as Professor and Chief of Vascular Surgery, Director of Surgery Research, and Surgery Grand Rounds Coordinator for the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center. A Distinguished Fellow of the Society for Vascular Surgery, Dr. AbuRahma has also participated in many other professional societies, including the American Surgical Association, the Society for Clinical Vascular Surgery, and the Society for Vascular Ultrasound. Throughout his active career, Dr. AbuRahma has served on numerous committees, held regular speaking engagements and has been published extensively in books, journals, abstracts and other publications.

Dr. Schmidt earned his medical degree at University of Colorado School of Medicine, in Denver. He continued his medical training with a general surgery internship at Charleston Area Medical Center, WVU. He then completed his residency in neurosurgery at West Virginia University Medical Center in Morgantown. One of the three senior members of the group, Dr. Schmidt began his private practice at Neurological Associates, Inc. in 1986. Currently, Dr. Schmidt is Chief of Staff at Charleston Area Medical Center and has served on numerous committees and board positions . He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Schmidt belongs to several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the West Virginia Medical Society, and the Kanawha County Medical Society.

Jennifer graduated from University of Charleston, Summa Cum Laude, and has 12 plus years of acute care hospital experience, where she still works per diem at Charleston Area Medical Center. She has worked in Public Health since the end of 2000, where she is the Nursing Director, responsible for all Clinical Services as well as SNS on a local and regional level. She is alumni of the West Virginia Nursing Leadership Institute's inaugural class. Hobbies include physical fitness training, gardening, spending time with the family, and threat preparedness (yeah, right!)..
