We invest in middle market companies with strong market positions, sound business models and meaningful growth prospects. Chartwell focuses on solving family succession issues, intricate tax and public securities problems, as well as creating strategic partnerships. We have partnered in investments with Fortune 50 companies such as Ford Motor Company and Mobil Oil Corporation, and take an active role in the corporate development of our portfolio companies. Since its founding in 1992, Chartwell's primary investment focus has been on acquiring ownership interests in market-leading consumer product, light manufacturing, distribution and service companies that can benefit from our strategic, financial and operational support. Chartwell has completed over $2.5 billion in transactions. In 2004, Chartwell completed investing its second fund, which totals approximately $250 million. In March 2005, Chartwell established an investment partnership with Leucadia National Corporation.
