One might say, he personifies passion. Michael's dedication for creating innovative solutions for libraries and their customers is both unique and inspiring. He is undoubtedly a man with a vision for Checkpoint Patron Services to assist Libraries and Marketers come together to help library customers realize their goals. His mantra for our team is that "it's all about the customers and their aspirations". How does one become so passionate? Michael Jermyn has spent his career chasing customer's passions. His background is in developing relationship marketing programs for advertisers and their retail partners. Michael has led teams throughout North America, Europe, South America and Asia for such companies as Procter & Gamble, United Distillers and Catalina Marketing Corporation; businesses dedicated to meeting consumers' needs, interests and aspirations. During the 1990's, Michael worked for George Off (then Chairman), at Catalina Marketing Corporation as Senior Vice President of Loyalty Marketing. When George called in the summer of 2005 to ask him how their common experience might apply to Checkpoint's Library Division, Michael was intrigued. He then spent several months traveling throughout North America and Asia Pacific meeting with libraries of different types, sizes and community missions. He wanted to be sure that his experience in consumer-based relationship marketing would translate to the public library sector in a meaningful way. During this process Michael was struck by the reality that many libraries view their customers in very contemporary ways researching their preferences, tracking their interests, creating programs designed to bring them back to the library, and providing them with rewarding experiences. As the concept of treating customers as customers is so similar to his loyalty marketing experience, Michael saw a compelling fit. Nearly two years later, the Checkpoint Customer Services Group was better equipped than ever to serve the contemporary challenges and opportunities that libraries face today.
