The company engages in integrated energy operations, from exploration and production to distribution and supply. It has 14 oil and gas field enterprises, 14 refining and petrochemical companies, 19 marketing companies, a group of R&D units, and 20 overseas projects in 12 countries. The company has annual revenue of about $71 billion and employs about 331,000 peoples. In July 2005, CNPC and ROSNEFT reached an agreement on long-term cooperation for Russian gas supply to China. In June 2005 China Huanqiu Contracting & Engineering Corporation (HQCEC) was merged into the company as a wholly owned subsidiary.
