VeriChip Corporation, headquartered in Delray Beach, Florida, develops, markets and sells RFID systems used to identify, locate and protect people and assets. VeriChip's goal is to become the leading provider of RFID systems for people in the healthcare industry. The Company recently began marketing its VeriMed Patient Identification System, a passive RFID system for rapidly and accurately identifying people who arrive in an emergency room and are unable to communicate. This system uses the first human-implantable passive RFID microchip, the implantable VeriChip, cleared for medical use in October 2004 by the United States Food and Drug Administration.

Mr. Silverman has served as our chairman of the board since March 2003. From March 2003 to December 2006, he served as our chief executive officer, and, from April 2005 to December 2006, he served as our acting president. From August 2001 to March 2002, he served as a special advisor to our board of directors, and from March 2002 to March 2003, he served as our president and as a member of our board of directors. From September 1999 to March 2002, Mr. Silverman operated his own private investment banking firm, and, from October 1996 to September 1999, he served in various capacities for us, including positions related to business development, corporate development and legal affairs. From July 1995 to September 1996, he served as president of ATI Communications, Inc., one of our subsidiaries. He began his career as an attorney specializing in commercial litigation and communications law at the law firm of Cooper Perskie in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mr. Silverman is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Villanova University School of Law. Mr. Silverman currently serves as the chairman of the board of directors of our majority-owned subsidiaries, VeriChip, Digital Angel and InfoTech.

Connie Weaver joined The Hartford on February 25, 2008, as senior vice president, marketing and communications, reporting to the CEO Ramani Ayer. She also serves as a member of the Office of the Chairman. In her role, Weaver oversees marketing and communications for the company. Her areas of focus include the company’s brand management and advertising, media and community relations and executive and employee communications. Weaver comes to The Hartford with an impressive record of achievement in marketing, investor and media relations, communications, teaching, and brand management experience for such high-profile companies as AT&T, Microsoft, MCI and McGraw-Hill. Most recently, Weaver served as executive vice president and chief marketing officer at BearingPoint, a global management and technology consulting firm. Throughout her career, she has consistently earned industry recognition, including BtoB Magazine's Who's Who list of Top Marketers in 2004, 2006 and 2007, and the Business Marketing Association's Communicator of the Year Award for her efforts at AT&T, as well as various awards in the field of investor relations. She is widely published in the area of communications and investor relations. Weaver serves on the board of Digital Angel Inc. and The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts and is active in several professional, national and community-based organizations. Weaver holds a B.S. from the University of Maryland and has completed post-graduate financial management, marketing and strategic planning courses at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University, and Imede (Switzerland). She has also completed the executive finance program at Stanford University.

William J. Caragol was appointed Chief Financial Officer in August 2006. Prior to that time, he served as the CFO of GTI, a subsidiary of Applied Digital in the Washington, D.C. area. In the four years before joining GTI, Bill worked with various technology companies, serving as the CFO and VP of Business Development for Millivision Technologies and the CFO for Mantra Communications. He also assisted many service and software organizations developing business plans and structuring strategic relationships and financings. From 1989 to 2000, Bill spent eight years with Deloitte & Touche as a Senior Manager and three years as the CFO for Condor Technology Solutions. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and previously served as a board member on the Investment Advisory Board for Virginia's Center for Innovative Technology. Bill graduated from the Washington & Lee University with a Bachelor of Science in Administration and Accounting.

Mr. Penni has served as a director since March 1995, and is chairman of the compensation committee and serves as a member of the audit, nominating and compliance and governance committees of our board of directors. Presently, he is a principal with the Endowment for the 21st Century. From September 1988 until December 2005, Mr. Penni was employed by Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. (NYSE:AJG), an insurance brokerage and risk management services firm, where he served in several positions, including most recently as an area executive vice president. He has worked in various sales and administrative roles in the insurance business since 1969. He also served as treasurer and chairman of the finance committee of the board of trustees of the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston through June 2006. Mr. Penni graduated with a bachelor of science degree in 1969 from the School of Management at Boston College. Mr. Penni has been a member of the board of directors of VeriChip since June 2004, and serves as chairman of VeriChip’s compensation committee, and as a member of VeriChip’s audit committee.
