Electrifying Japan! Chubu Electric Power Company, Inc. is Japan's third-largest electric company. It has a generating capacity of nearly 32,600 MW, and it distributes power to about 10 million residential and business customers. It has now moved into new territories, such as telecommunications, information technology, natural gas supply, LNG transportation, on-site power generation systems and others. This $18.8 billion company is based in the city of Higashi-ku, in the Nagoya, Aichi State of Japan. It was established in 1951 and employs about 24,000 people.In March 2006, Chubu Telecommunications became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chubu Electric Power through an exchange of shares.
