Cogent Communications

Early in his career, Michael was a Producer/Director for Hewlett-Packard's Computer Marketing Group, where he wrote, produced, and directed video training programs and worked in the development of live videoconferences. Later, he was manager of Video Production for the Division of Instructional Media at Stanford University Medical Center, where he produced numerous instructional programs for the Stanford University School of Medicine. He has produced over 500 programs. This is the record of excellence and breadth of experience that Michael brings to his clients' communications media team.

Her extensive career has spanned academic, publishing and food service industries. She has been widely recognized for her noteworthy accomplishments in new business development, resource organization, training and the delivery of new products and services. As Vice-President of the California Culinary Academy Development Company, she produced customized training programs, continuing education programs, video and multimedia productions and acted as Executive Producer for the CCA website. As founding Culinary Director of Webvan, she was responsible for conceptual and actual development of all culinary programs as well as design and launch of their on-line magazine.

Matthew Haentzschel joined WBS Connect as the director of sales in 2006. In this role, Matt leads the WBS Connect management team in developing and implementing sales and marketing strategies across all channels. Prior to joining WBS Connect, Matt was a leading force in the Carrier Sales Division of Cogent Communications where he led and managed the sales of the organization and initiated network development and expansion. He was also instrumental in the cultivation and training of the organization's direct sales force. Matt has more than 10 years of experience in the telecommunications industry with prominent positions at Cogent Communications, Allegiance Telecom, as well as other consultative roles throughout the industry. In addition to his full-time role at WBS Connect, Matt is also currently pursuing his MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurial Leadership from the prestigious George L. Gaziadio School of Business at Pepperdine University.

Edward Glassmeyer is a founding General Partner of Oak Investment Partners. Ed serves on the board of the following Oak companies: In the Service Sector; CBORD (campus cashless cards and food services), Geotrace (seismic analytic services), EquaTerra (outsource advisory services), and oneGCI (outsourced IT services); IT Equipment companies Linux Networx (high performance computers) and Xiotech, Inc. (storage virtualization); Telecom Equipment companies ADVA Optical Networks (ADV.F) and Cantata Technology, Inc. plus Interactive Entertainment company Major League Gaming, Inc. Prior to Oak, Ed was with Citicorp Venture Capital from 1968 to 1970, followed by a tour with the Sprout Capital Group where he was Managing Partner from 1971 to 1974. Ed graduated from Princeton University in 1963, served as an officer in the Marine Corps from 1963 to 1966, and received his MBA with distinction from The Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College in 1968, where he now serves on the Board of Overseers. Ed was a founding Director of the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA), and received their Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.

Jean-Jacques Bertrand has served on our board of directors since April 2004 and is a member of the Audit Committee. Mr. Bertrand has been Managing Partner of BNP Private Equity SA since 1998 and led the telecommunications and media group of BNP SA from 1990 to 1998. Prior to that, Mr. Bertrand held senior management functions with France Telecom and was appointed special adviser to the French Minister of Communications. He sits on the board of directors of Group Multitel SA and Musiwave SA.

Mr. Peterson graduated from Willamette University's College of Law in 1980. He had earlier earned an AB in Government, with High Honors, and been inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at The College of William and Mary. In 1987, while actively practicing law, he purchased and re-opened an aluminum smelter in Washington State. Subsequently he founded Columbia Ventures Corporation and led in the creation or acquisition of several subsidiary businesses. Mr. Peterson is a Director of American Capital Strategies, Inc., a NASDAQ-listed company, and Cogent Communications, a publicly traded company on the American Stock Exchange. Mr. Peterson is also a Director of the Washington Policy Center, a non-profit research center.

Michael R. Steed is a Founder and Managing Partner of Paladin. He serves as Chairman of the Paladin Homeland Security Fund Investment Committee and will serve as Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Fund; he is also a member of the Paladin Capital Partners Fund Investment Committee. Mr. Steed provides management oversight of the firm's operations and investments, and is responsible for the strategic direction of Paladin's current and future activities. Prior to founding Paladin Capital, Mr. Steed served as the Senior Vice President of Investments at Ullico Inc. a financial services holding company located in Washington, DC where he was responsible for 78 direct investments, co-investments and fund investments from 1992 to 1999, including all investments in a private capital fund where Mr. Steed had primary management responsibility. To date, Mr. Steed has completed over 100 direct, co-investment and fund investments during his career. Michael Steed is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University (LMU) of Los Angeles and received his law degree from Loyola University School of Law. He presently serves as a member of LMU's Board of Trustees; is a member of the Board of Visitors for Duke University's Sanford Institute of Public Policy; and is a founding board member of the National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI). Mr. Steed represents Paladin on the boards of directors of FPMI Solutions, SOA Software, Accubuilt, and Unlimited Fiber Optic Communications which has oversight of Paladin's investment in Cogent Communications.

Richard T. Liebhaber has served as a Director since June 1997. Mr. Liebhaber was a Consulting Managing Director at Veronis, Suhler & Associates, Inc., a provider of financial advisory services to the communications industry, from June 1995 to August 2001. Prior to that, Mr. Liebhaber served as Executive Vice President of MCI Communications Corporation, a telecommunications provider, from December 1985 to May 1995. Mr. Liebhaber also serves on the board of directors of ILOG S.A., a software company, JDS Uniphase Corporation, a provider of optical communications products, and Cogent Communications, Inc., an internet service provider.

Tim joined Worldview in January 2000 from Robertson Stephens and Company where he worked in equity research and focused on the telecom and networking equipment sectors. Tim's investments for Worldview are directed at the intersection of broadband, mobile and the Internet. Tim is a board member of Cogent Communications (NSAD: CCOI), Force10 Networks, Ooma Inc., Zoove Inc. and Visage Mobile. Previously, he was an investor in Avvenu (aquired by Motorola), Laurel Networks (aquired by ECI Telecom) and Movaz Networks (acquired by Adva Optical Inc.). Tim holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Bryant is a Vice President of Paladin Capital Group. Prior to joining Paladin Capital in 2002, Mr. Bryant was an Associate and founding member of The Vigilant Investors Fund, a hedge fund in Santa Monica, California. While at Vigilant, Mr. Bryant was part of small team that built the fund from start-up, raising initial LP commitments from institutional and high-net worth investors. Mr. Bryant's responsibilities included originating and executing on new investment ideas, monitoring the fund's investments, as well as creating and maintaining the fund's proprietary in-house risk management system or 'black-box'. Prior to Vigilant, Mr. Bryant was a member of the management team of a Los Angeles based start-up. Mr. Bryant is also the co-founder of an international non-profit organization focused on creating literacy programs and building libraries in rural villages in West Africa. Mr. Bryant received his B.A. degree in Philosophy with Honors from Haverford College in Pennsylvania, where he focused on Logic and Analytical Philosophy. Mr. Bryant represents Paladin on the Board of Directors of Greater Ohio Ethanol and Renewable Energy Products, and is also actively involved with Paladin's investments in Accubuilt, Cogent Communications [NASDAQ: CCOI], Crossbow, HelioVolt, Iptivia, OQO, Royalty Pharma, SafeView, and SOA Software. Mr. Bryant is also a member of the Executive Committee of YAVA, the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association's Young Atlantic Venture Association. Mr. Bryant is also actively involved in Paladin's investment activities in alternative energy, renewable fuels, and clean technologies.
