Prior to joining Cohen & Grigsby, he had been a partner at Titus & McConomy since 1995. Meryl Macklin joins Cohen & Grigsby's Litigation Group as a Director. Ms. Macklin focuses her practice in complex business litigation including real estate litigation, antitrust litigation, securities litigation, accountants' liability litigation, environmental litigation and major contract and business tort actions. She has represented clients in a wide variety of manufacturing, service, and communications businesses. Ms. Macklin earned her B.A. from Yale University in 1980 and her J.D. from the Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California at Berkeley in 1984. She is a member of the State Bar of California and is an active speaker and writer on numerous litigation topics. Ms. Macklin also served as the Editor-in-Chief of the California Litigation Review from 1995-98. Prior to joining Cohen & Grigsby, Ms. Macklin was a partner with the firm of Christa & Jackson in Los Angeles, California. Gerald J. Iwanejko, Jr. joins Cohen & Grigsby's Litigation Group as an Associate. He concentrates on patent trademark and copyright law and deals with all aspects of technology protection, including patent prosecution, licensing and litigation. After earning a degree in electrical engineering from Pennsylvania State University in 1987, Mr. Iwanejko served as an officer in the U.S. Navy where he gained extensive experience in electrical, nuclear, mechanical, materials and computer engineering. David M. Paul is a lawyer with the law firm of Berger & Lagnese, LLC. Mr. Paul represents people who have been injured or killed as a result of medical malpractice, defective products, motor vehicles, and unsafe property. Mr. Paul has worked on numerous cases involving failure to diagnose and treat colon cancer, lung cancer, cervical cancer, brain injury, and surgical error, including mistakes made during surgery to treat carpal tunnel syndrome. Mr. Paul also has extensive experience representing victims of defamation. Mr. Paul graduated with from the College of Wooster in 1985. While at Wooster, Mr. Paul received the Elias Compton Freshman Prize, the Mary Allen Sanborn Prize, and Jonas O. Notestine Award, given to the graduating senior who achieved the highest level of scholarship over the four year college course. He graduated with highest honors, both overall and in his major. Mr. Paul was also inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Paul went on to receive a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy in 1990 from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. He received his J.D. with honors from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1993. While at Pitt Law, Mr. Paul was a Law Fellows Scholar, and an associate editor at the Journal of Law and Commerce. He was the recipient of the 1992 William H. Eckert Prize for superior legal writing, and he published a note in the University of Pittsburgh Law Review (54 U.Pitt.L.Rev. 893 (1993)). Upon completing law school, Mr. Paul served as judicial clerk to the Honorable Alan N. Bloch of the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania (1993-94) and as judicial clerk to the Honorable Timothy K. Lewis, formerly of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit (1994-95). After working a year and a half at the prestigious Pittsburgh law firm of Cohen & Grigsby, Mr. Paul was given an opportunity to become a trial lawyer on the plaintiffs' side at the law firm of Berger & Lagnese. Mr. Paul was raised in Murrysville, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Franklin Regional High School in 1980. While in high school, Mr. Paul was a three year starter on the boys varsity basketball team, and a three year letterman in track and field. He was voted "Best All Around" by his senior class. Mr. Paul is married with four children, ranging in age from 15 to 3. Mr. Paul's hobbies include reading, walking, creative writing, and biking. Mr. Paul is fluent in Spanish and has lived extensively abroad, including Chile, Spain, Puerto Rico, and India.

Mr. Cohen is a founder and the Chairman of the Pittsburgh law firm of Cohen & Grigsby, P.C. He is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where he taught securities regulation for 22 years and currently teaches a seminar entitled "Enterprise Organization and Finance." In private practice for over 32 years, Mr. Cohen has gained extensive experience in planning, negotiating and documenting public and private capital formation transactions and business combination transactions. He has also devoted considerable time to serve as a director of public and private for-profit companies and nonprofit organizations. Mr. Cohen currently serves as a Director on the Boards of DQE, Inc., Giant Eagle, Eat 'n Park, Industrial Scientific, Robroy Industries, Precision Therapeutics, Preservation Technologies, The Institute for Transfusion Medicine and is Chairman of Jewish Healthcare Foundation. He is also an active arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association, as well as a member of The American Law Institute and the American Bar Association. Mr. Cohen received his J.D. degree with distinction from the University of Michigan Law School in 1965 and his undergraduate degree with distinction from Dartmouth College in 1962.

With more than 40 years of experience, Mr. Grigsby was a trial lawyer actively engaged in civil litigation and a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers. Mr. Grigsby was a prolific speaker on the topics of evidence, trial tactics, product liability, medical malpractice and in programs sponsored by the National Institute of Trial Advocacy. Mr. Grigsby had been extensively quoted in professional journals, newspapers and magazine articles, both nationally and regionally. He was a Judge in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County, 1978-1979.
