Columbus Regional

Barbara McKnight was named vice president and chief nursing office for Columbus Regional Healthcare System in 2006. She joined The Medical Center in 1978 as a pediatric nurse and, prior to her current position, has served in management roles in Women's and Children's Services, Inpatient Nursing Services and home health. She has been a registered nurse in Georgia since 1977 and earned her AA degree in nursing from Columbus College.

Burnis D. Breland, M.S., Pharm.D., FASHP, is Director of Pharmacy and Clinical Research at Columbus Regional Healthcare System, Columbus, Georgia, and Adjunct Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy Practice at Auburn University. He also serves as preceptor for the University of Georgia and Mercer University Schools of Pharmacy. Dr. Breland is Director of the Pharmacy Residency Programs at Columbus Regional. He is a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the Georgia Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the Alabama Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the Mississippi Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the Southeastern Society of Hospital Pharmacists, and the Georgia Pharmacy Association. He currently serves as President of the Columbus chapter of the American Diabetes Association and is Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Three Rivers Area Health Education Center. He is a member of the ASHP Council on Administrative Affairs, is Chairman of the GSHP Legislative Affairs Committee, is a member of the Georgia Pharmacy Association Governmental Affairs Committee, is Chairman of the VHA Georgia Pharmacy Advisory Council, and serves on the Pharmacy Purchasing Council of Novation, Inc. Dr. Breland received his B.S. Degree in Pharmacy and his M.S. Degree in Hospital Pharmacy from the University of Mississippi, his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of Tennessee in Memphis, and completed his ASHP Accredited Residency in Hospital Pharmacy from St. Luke's Episcopal, Texas Children's Hospital, Texas Heart Institute, Houston, Texas. He was Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy Practice and Associate Director of Pharmacy at the University of Mississippi Medical Center prior to his assuming his current position with Columbus Regional.
