Peter Scovell heads-up Newlyn Technologies Ltd, an Ottawa based technology consultancy company which he founded in 1999 and now serves clients throughout North America and Europe. He has over 25 years of managing technology enterprises at all levels from components to systems and has over 22 semiconductor, photonics and wireless patents to his name. Peter Scovell serves on the boards of LxSix, COM DEV International, Wave Precision and SpaceBridge Semiconductors reflecting his passion for wireless, photonics and semiconductor businesses. He is a Chartered Physicist as well as a Fellow of the Institute of Physics. Mr. Scovell career includes Standard Telephone and Cables (STC), a telecommunications company in the UK, where he joined as a research engineer working on semiconductor design and manufacture and progressed within STC to run the technology division of its central laboratories. He then went on to manage the company's wireless terminals business and in 1990, moved to Ottawa after Nortel purchased STC. He became vice president of the advanced technology division of Bell Northern Research and then served several general management roles in Nortel's components divisions before assuming responsibility for Nortel's fixed wireless portfolio in 1996. He left Nortel in 1999 to join COM DEV International as president of its wireless division. In 2000, he became president and CEO of a Ottawa photonics company.
