Caroline van Weede has been managing director of Cable Europe since December 2005. Her background includes head of business intelligence department of the French telco SFR Cegetel Group and a stint as chair of GSM Europe.

As a change agent within a dynamic industry, Everman is a key player in Time Warner's commitment to competition, multiple product lines and workforce diversity. "More and more women are being promoted from within, and a lot of that comes from the top," she said. Getting better has defined Everman's career and has made her one of the top women executives in the industry, along with making valuable contributions to the industry through her work with WICT, where she currently serves as president of the WICT of the Carolinas Chapter. Her achievements have not gone unnoticed. She was nominated for the Women in Cable and Telecommunications Walk of Fame in 2003 and made it into Cable World's "Top 100 Women in Technology" for several years in a row.

David Flessas will join Time Warner Cable as senior vice president, technical operations. He will report to Gerald D. Campbell, executive vice president, technical operations, and will be based in the company's Herndon, VA, office. Flessas will be responsible for managing the company's technical operations supporting the delivery of high-speed data and telephone services. Flessas joins TWC from Sprint, which he joined in 1983 and where he was most recently vice president, interconnection solutions in Sprint network services.

John Roy has joined the Comcast Media Center's senior management team as vice president, cable operations and engineering. In this newly created position, he oversees the video encoding and distribution services that the CMC provides to Comcast's cable systems, HITS affiliates and other content distribution customers. This includes management responsibility for the CMC's Titan Earth Station in nearby Sedalia, CO, terrestrial content distribution the CMC delivers via fiber backbone, and its encode operations, IT infrastructure and video engineering units. Roy most recently served as senior director of advanced video implementation for Charter Communications. From 2003 to 2006, he was director of advanced video engineering for Adelphia Communications. Beforehand, Roy worked on broadband and advanced video solutions at MediaOne and Scientific Atlanta.

Michael Thurk, former chief operating officer of Avaya, has been appointed to Acme Packet's Board of Directors, effective immediately. Thurk is currently the managing partner for Mariposa Consulting. From 2006 to 2008, he was COO of Avaya, a global provider of business communications applications, systems and services. Before that, he held positions with Ericsson, Xyplex Networks, General Datacomm, and Digital Equipment Corp.

Title: Vice President, Broadband Network Engineering, Cox Communications Orange County/Palos Verdes (OCPV). Broadband background: Guerrero assumed leadership of the engineering group in the Cox Orange County system in 1996. He was previously executive director of construction services for Cox Communications in Atlanta. He had earlier been with Times Mirror and American Television and Communications. Tony Werner is responsible for developing and guiding the company’s technology strategy and evolving network architecture, including supporting next-generation consumer systems and technologies, infrastructure and engineering, network integration and management tools and technical standards. Mr. Werner most recently served as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Liberty Global, Inc., in Englewood, CO, leading the company’s global strategy for video, voice and data services. Werner has more than 25 years of engineering and technical management experience, having held senior management positions with Qwest Communications, Aurora Networks, TeleCommunications, Inc. (TCI)/AT&T Broadband, Rogers Communications, Inc., and RCA Cablevision Systems. A graduate of Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, MN, with a degree in Telecommunications, Werner resides in Philadelphia.
