Community Hospital

Bruce Hyndman, MSEE, PE is Director of Engineering Services at the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, Monterey, CA, and a consultant in health care engineering and forensics. He has held positions at Stanford Medical Center, Palo Alto and Sutter Hospitals, Sacramento. He has planned and managed major capital projects and currently managse both facilities and clinical engineering.

Vincent A. Gaudiani, M.D. brings a stellar reputation to his role of Surgeon in Chief of CPMCa??s Heart Institute, coming from a 13-year position as Director of Cardiovascular Surgery at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City. Over the past 25 years, Dr Gaudiani has performed over 10,000 operations. He has focused on valve repair and replacement and electrophysiologic surgery. He has published over 40 scientific papers and has a passionate interest in quality assurance in cardiac surgery. A graduate of Harvard University and Case Western Reserve University Medical School, Dr Gaudiani completed his cardiac surgery training at the National Institute for Health and Stanford University. Board certified in Surgery and Thoracic Surgery, he is a member of the American College of Surgeons and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. He serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of Medtronic Cardiac Surgery.

Dr. Healy graduated from the University of Scranton with Master's of Physical Therapy in 2002. He worked as a clinician and director of an outpatient clinic in New York in his early career. His interests in manual physical therapy led him to further his education. Dr. Healy graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida in 2008. He has spent the last 4 years comparing and contrasting various techniques in both the physical therapy and chiropractic arenas. Recently, he has relocated to the Tampa Bay area and works as an outpatient physical therapist for Community Hospital of New Port Richey.

Dr. Christopher J. Copeland is an Orthopedic Surgeon practicing at Community Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital. He has subspecialty training in Orthopedic Foot and Ankle, and Sports Medicine. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences and a Minor in Anatomy/Neurobiology from Colorado State University. In 2000, he received his Medical Degree from the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and was awarded membership into the National Osteopathic Scholastic Society. Dr. Copeland completed his Internship and Orthopedic Residency at the South Pointe Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. He then completed a one year Fellowship in Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Surgery and Sports Medicine in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Copeland is a local graduate of Fruita Monument High School and his wife Tekla are natives of Colorado. They have two children and enjoy various activities including hiking, biking, camping, fishing, and skiing.

A graduate of Emory University, Atlanta, Dr. Gerber received his MD degree from the Chicago Medical School. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine through New York University at the New York Veterans Administration Medical Center. From 1989 to 1990, Dr. Gerber was chief medical resident at the New York Veterans Administration Medical Center in New York City. From 1990 to 1993, he completed fellowships in cardiovascular disease, PTCA and coronary intervention. Dr. Gerber is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and in 1993, he was named an Eli Lilly Critical Care Scholar. He is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Echocardiography and the Monterey County Medical Society. Dr. Gerber is an attending physician at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital and Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula.

Susan has served on the McCook Community Foundation Fund Advisory Board since 2003. She is a life-long member of the McCook community. She graduated McCook Community College and University of Nebraska at Kearney and returned to McCook to work as Clothing Buyer and Advertising Coordinator for the family business, a chain of clothing stores, for 16 years. She has been the Outreach Coordinator at Community Hospital since 2004. She is also Project Manager for the Hormel Family Foundation's Annual Business Plan Competition, an endeavor aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and new or expanded business in the McCook area. During her time in McCook, Susan has served on the 4-H Advisory Board, as a fair judge, the McCook Community College Family and Consumer Science Advisory Board, and the Relay For Life Committee and was a Girl Scout leader for three years. She serves on the Evening For Hospice committee, Youth Task Group for Hometown Competiveness, and volunteers as organizer for the annual July 4th Culbertson Freedom Run.
