Prior to Apria, Howard worked at 99 Only Stores, a $1.1 billion, publicly-traded California-based retailer and multi-state operator of 250 stores. While serving as the Vice President of Human Resources, Howard was responsible for employee relations, recruiting, compensation, payroll, HRIS, organizational effectiveness and benefits. Prior to this, Howard held senior management positions in human resources and related functional areas for several private and public companies, including International Education Corporation, the parent company of several multi-site career training schools and NBTY, Inc. a leading global manufacturer and marketer of nutritional supplements. David L. Goldsmith was elected as a director in June 2005 and is a financial services veteran of more than three decades. Mr. Goldsmith is currently a business consultant principally focused in the areas of corporate finance. From 1999 to 2003, he was a managing director of venture capital for RS Investments. Donald J. Amaral, age 53, has been a director since 2003. Mr. Amaral is chairman of our audit committee and a member of our nominating and corporate governance committee. He was chairman and chief executive officer of Coram Healthcare Corporation, a home infusion therapy company, from 1995 to 1999 and continues to serve as a director. Coram Healthcare filed a voluntary petition for reorganization under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code on August 28, 2000, and a Chapter 11 trustee was appointed on March 7, 2002. On October 27, 2005, the Bankruptcy Court confirmed the trustee's plan of reorganization. Mr. Amaral has a Bachelor's degree in accounting and an MBA degree. He served as chief executive officer and chief financial officer of various companies for over 25 years.
