As the senior clinical leader at Ortho Biotech and previously at J&J’s R.W. Johnson Pharmaceutical Research Institute (PRI), she led the clinical teams responsible for NDA approvals for Procrit® (epoetin alpha), that company’s largest single product. She had similar leadership responsibilities for the approvals of Leustatin®, Renova®, Topamax®, Levaquin®, and Ultram®.
Prior to joining J&J, Dr. Itri was associated with Hoffmann-La Roche, most recently as Assistant Vice President and Senior Director of Clinical Investigations, where she was responsible for all phases of clinical development programs in immunology, infectious diseases, antivirals, AIDS, hematology, and oncology. Under her leadership in the areas of recombinant proteins, cytotoxic drugs and differentiation agents, the first successful Product License Application (PLA) for any interferon product Roferon-A® (interferon alfa) was compiled.

Mr. Sanders assumed responsibility as COO in April 2008 after heading Genta's sales & marketing and worldwide commercial operations for 2 years. Prior to joining Genta, Mr. Sanders held key senior leadership positions in the commercial organizations of Pharmacia (now Pfizer), Sanofi-Synthelabo and subsequently Sanofi-Aventis. He served at the Vice-President level within the Oncology commercial organizations of Sanofi-Aventis and Sanofi-Synthelabo. In those roles, he had key responsibilities for the commercial success of Eloxatin® (oxaliplatin), Taxotere® (docetaxel), Anzemet® (dolasetron mesylate), and ELITEK® (rasburicase). He led the successful restructuring, integration, deployment, strategic development, and tactical execution of the merged companies' sales forces.
He was responsible for national account GPO contracting strategy and negotiations, and he shared responsibility for oncology sales training and sales operations. At Sanofi-Synthelabo, he led the 110-member team that achieved record sales for an oncology product launch with Eloxatin® (oxaliplatin). From 1987 until 2002, Mr. Sanders held progressively increasing levels of responsibility at Pharmacia, Inc. (now Pfizer) participating in the launches of Camptosar® (irinotecan) and ELLENCE® (epirubicin). Mr. Sanders holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Memphis State University.

Bob joined Dicerna after a long career at Genta, where he was Vice President, Research and Technology and had over 75 issued patents and patent applications. There, Bob became one of the only R&D executives in the biotechnology industry to follow a systemically administered oligonucleotide therapeutic (Genasense ) from the research bench, through Phase 1, 2, and 3 clinical trials and NDA review. At this time, Genasense remains the only systemically administered oligonucleotide ever subjected to FDA NDA review. At Genta, Bob actively participated in and drove technology creation and development, preclinical research, and very specific clinical trial design features. He worked directly with clinicians and key opinion leaders performing the studies on trial design, execution, and interpretation of results. Before joining Genta, Bob was co-founder and VP of Research and Development at Oasis Biosciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of California, Berkeley and a BS in Chemistry and a BS in Biology from the University of Washington.
Gary Siegel joined Genta in May 2003 as Director, Financial Services, was appointed Senior Director, Financial Services in April 2004 and was appointed Vice President, Finance in September 2007. During his tenure at Genta, Mr. Siegel has been accountable for the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the Company including public and management reporting, treasury operations, planning, financial controls and compliance.
Mr. Siegel became an executive officer of the Company and assumed the role of interim Principal Accounting Officer, interim Principal Financial Officer and interim Corporate Secretary, effective February 29, 2008, while the Company searches for Richard J. Moran’s successor. Prior to joining Genta, he worked for two years at Geller & Company, a private consulting firm, where he led the management reporting for a multi-billion dollar client. His twenty-two years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry include leadership roles at Warner-Lambert Company and Pfizer Inc., where he held positions of progressively increasing levels of responsibility including Director, Corporate Finance and Director, Financial Planning & Reporting.

Thomas H. Aasen, CPA has served as our Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Secretary and Treasurer since April 1998. Prior to joining us, Mr. Aasen held the position of Senior Director of Finance and Administration at Axys Pharmaceuticals, a publicly traded life sciences company formerly called Sequana Therapeutics, where he was employed from June 1996 to April 1998. Earlier in his career, Mr. Aasen held various financial management positions including Director of Finance at Genta, Inc. and Director of Accounting at Gen-Probe, Inc., both publicly traded life sciences companies, and Audit Manager at KPMG Peat Marwick. He has over 23 years of professional finance and accounting experience focused primarily on the life sciences industry. He attended Brown University (BA), Stanford University (PhD in Organic Chemistry), Albert Einstein College of Medicine (MD), and New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center (Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine). Dr Stein was a Clinical Associate and Senior Staff Fellow at The National Cancer Institute, Bethesda, Maryland.

Dr. Adams is the Chief Technology Officer of Iris International, Inc., the company that acquired Leucadia Technologies in 2006 and is the founder and Chairman Emeritus of Genta, Inc., a publicly held biotechnology company in the field of antisense technology. From September 1998 to April 2006, Dr. Adams was chairman of the board and Chief Executive Officer of Leucadia Technologies, a privately held company in the field of medical devices. From 1989 to 1997, Dr. Adams served as Chief Executive Officer of Genta, Inc. In 1984, Dr. Adams founded Gen-Probe, Inc., a publicly held company that develops and manufactures diagnostic products, and served as its Chief Executive Officer and Chairman until its acquisition by Chugai Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. in 1989. From 1980 to 1984, Dr. Adams was Senior Vice President of Research and Development at Hybritech, which was later acquired by Eli Lilly and Company in 1986. Dr. Adams has also held management positions at Technicon Instruments and the Hyland Division of Baxter Travenol, served as a director of Biosite Diagnostics, Inc., a publicly held medical research firm, from 1989 to 1998, Life Technologies, Inc. from 1992 to 2001, Invitrogen, Inc. a publicly held company, from 2001 to 2003, and Xenomics, Inc., a publicly held molecular diagnostics firm, from 2004 to 2005. Douglas G. Watson , age 64, has served as one of our directors since February 2000. Mr. Watson is Chief Executive Officer of Pittencrieff Glen Associates, a consulting firm that he founded in July 1999. From January 1997 to May 1999, Mr. Watson served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Novartis Corporation, the U.S. subsidiary of Novartis AG. From April 1996 to December 1996, Mr. Watson served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Ciba-Geigy Corporation, which merged into Novartis Corporation in December 1996. Mr. Watson s career spanned 33 years with Novartis, having joined Geigy (UK) Ltd. in 1966. Mr. Watson also currently serves as chairman of OraSure Technologies, Inc., a medical diagnostics company, chairman of Javelin Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a pharmaceutical company, and as a director of Genta Incorporated, a biopharmaceutical company, and BioMimetic Therapeutics, Inc., a pharmaceutical company. Mr. Watson received an M.A. in Pure Mathematics from Churchill College, Cambridge University and holds an ACMA qualification as an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

Douglas G. Watson is the founder of Pittencrieff Glen Associates, which was established in June, 1999. Prior to this, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Novartis Corporation, the US subsidiary of Novartis A.G. Mr. Watson's career spanned 33 years with Geigy / Ciba-Geigy / Novartis. He joined Geigy (UK) Ltd in 1966, working first in Operations Research and then in Corporate Planning. Following the Ciba-Geigy merger, he spent one year in Basel , Switzerland as the UK representative to an international integration team. He returned to the UK in 1973 as accounting development and investment appraisal manager, and subsequently headquarters management accountant. In 1978, Doug returned to Basel as personal assistant to the Chairman of the Executive Committee. In 1981, he joined the US Pharmaceuticals Division as senior vice president of planning and business development, and a member of the Pharmaceuticals Management Committee. From 1986, he was President of Ciba Pharmaceuticals Division until 1996, when he was appointed President & CEO of Ciba-Geigy Corporation. During this ten year period, Mr. Watson was an active member of the Pharmaceutical Research & Manufacturers Association (PhRMA) board in Washington , DC . Mr. Watson became President & CEO of Novartis Corporation in 1997 when Ciba-Geigy & Sandoz merged. Mr Watson elected to take early retirement from Novartis in May, 1999. Mr. Watson, in addition, is Chairman of the board of OraSure Technologies Inc., and serves as a member of the board of directors for Engelhard Corporation, Genta Inc., Dendreon Corporation, BZL Biologics Inc., BioMimetic Pharmaceuticals Inc., BioElectronics Inc., InforMedix, Inc., and Innovative Drug Delivery Systems Inc. Prior board memberships include Novartis Corporation, Summit Bank Corporation, Principia Pharmaceuticals Inc., and ValiGen N.V. He has been a supporter of America 's Promise since its inception, and is chairman of the Freedom House Foundation, a non-profit organisation which treats adult men & women recovering from alcohol and drug addiction. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the American Liver Foundation, and on the President's Advisory Council of Drew University . Born near Pittencrieff Glen in the city of Dunfermline, Scotland, Mr. Watson holds an MA degree in pure mathematics from Churchill College, Cambridge University, and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

Lance Willsey, MD has served as a director since May 2000. Dr. Willsey was a founding partner of DCF Capital from July 1998 to April 2002. From July 1997 to July 1998, Dr. Willsey served on the Staff Department of Urologic Oncology at Dana Farber Cancer Institute at Harvard University School of Medicine. From July 1996 to July 1997, Dr. Willsey served on the Staff Department of Urology at Massachusetts General Hospital at Harvard University School of Medicine, where he was a urology resident from July 1992 to July 1996. Dr. Willsey is also a director of Exelixis, Inc. Dr. Willsey holds a BS in physiology from Michigan State University and an MS in biology and an MD from Wayne State University. Patrick J. Zenner has served as a director since March 2003. In January 2001, Mr. Zenner retired from Hoffmann-La Roche Inc., North America, the prescription drug unit of the Roche Group, a leading research-based health care enterprise, where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer since 1993, and was a member of the global Pharmaceutical Executive Committee. Mr. Zenner joined Hoffmann-La Roche Inc. as a sales representative in 1969 and subsequently held a series of marketing and business development posts that culminated in his being named Vice President and General Manager of Roche Laboratories in 1982. He later spent two and a half years with Roche Holding Ltd. as head of international pharmaceutical marketing, development and regulation. In 1988, Mr. Zenner was elected to Hoffmann-La Roche's Executive Committee and Board of Directors, and appointed Senior Vice President of the pharmaceutical division. Mr. Zenner also serves as a director of ArQule, Inc., Curagen Corporation, Dendrite International, Inc., First Horizon Pharmaceuticals Corporation, Genta Inc., Geron Corporation, Praecis Pharmaceuticals, Inc, West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. and Xoma Ltd. Mr. Zenner holds a BS in business administration from Creighton University and an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University and is a Trustee of both universities.
