Francois Nader has been President and Chief Executive Officer of NPS Pharmaceuticals, Inc. since March 2008. Alan G. Harris has 20 years of experience working in clinical drug development in the pharmaceutical industry. He was recently Corporate Head of the Worldwide Medical Endocrine Care group at Pfizer Inc, New York. Before that, while at Schering-Plough, he served in a number of capacities in Medical Affairs and recently as Vice President Global Healthcare Research & Outcomes. During his tenure at Sandoz Pharmaceuticals (Novartis) he was the Clinical Project Leader for the development of Sandostatin Dr. Harris is currently Adjunct Professor of Medicine at NYU Medical School and Visiting Professor of Medicine in the Department of Endocrinology at Liege University Medical School, Belgium. Dr. Harris received his M.D. from the Louis Pasteur Faculty of Medicine, University of Strasbourg, France and his Ph.D. in Endocrinology from Erasmus University, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. He was a practicing internist for seven years and an attending physician in the department of Gastroenterology at Nice University Hospital, France. He was Associate Professor of Medicine and, Director, Division of Clinical Pharmacology, Department of Medicine and Medical Director of the Department of Technology Development and Transfer and Clinical Trials at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center/UCLA School of Medicine, Los Angeles. Dr. Harris is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, the Royal College of Physicians (UK) and the Royal Society of Medicine. He has authored over 200 publications including 100 peer reviewed scientific papers. He is currently a Trustee of the Hospital for Joint Diseases-New York University Medical Center.

Gerard J. Michel has been chief financial officer since 2003. Before being appointed to this position, he served as vice president, corporate development. Prior to joining NPS, Mr. Michel served as a principal with the consulting firm of Booz-Allen & Hamilton. While with Booz-Allen from 1995 to 2002, he worked with numerous pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, and healthcare service firms on both strategic and operational issues. From 1988 to 1995, Mr. Michel was with Lederle Labs, serving in marketing, sales, and corporate development roles, both domestic and international. Mr. Michel received an M.S. in microbiology and an M.B.A., both from the University of Rochester.
Mr. Beshar joined NPS in November 2007. He is a former CFO of various public and private companies and has more than twenty five years of general and financial management experience. Most recently, he served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Cambrex Corporation, a global life sciences company, and senior vice president and chief financial officer at Dendrite International, a leading provider of services to the life sciences industry. Mr. Beshar began his career with Arthur Andersen & Co. He is a certified public accountant, obtained his undergraduate degree in accounting and finance from Michigan State University and is a graduate of The Executive Program at the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia.

Roger Garceau, MD, joined NPS in December 2008 and brings over 20 years of broad pharmaceutical industry experience to his position. From 2002 to 2008, Dr. Garceau served in a number of senior leadership positions at Sanofi-aventis and most recently was vice president of the new products group. Previously, Dr. Garceau held various positions, including vice president clinical operations, interim head of North American medical and regulatory affairs, and head of U.S. medical research, where he lead a team of over 200 professionals and oversaw the design and execution of over 50 sponsored in five different therapeutic areas. Prior to his tenure at Sanofi-aventis, Dr. Garceau spent 16 years with Pharmacia Corporation in global development and medical affairs where he successfully contributed to a number of marketing applications. Dr. Garceau is a board-certified pediatrician. He received a bachelor of science in biology from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut and his doctorate of medicine from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Sandra Cottrell, MA, PhD joined NPS in April 2009. Prior to joining NPS, she had served as hemostatis franchise and therapeutic area head in regulatory affairs at Novo Nordisk Inc. Previously she served as vice president at B&H Consulting Services, Inc.; as global vice president of regulatory affairs for INO Therapeutics LLC; and has over 25 years experience within Johnson & Johnson's pharmaceutical sector. With over 30 years experience working in the pharmaceutical industry across multiple therapeutic areas, she has an in-depth knowledge of the drug development process. Dr. Cottrell is an adjunct professor at Temple University, as well as being a lecturer for Medicademy in Denmark. She received her Bachelor and Master degrees in Chemistry and Doctorate degree in Pharmaceutics with an emphasis on Regulatory Affairs from Temple University.
Hunter Jackson, Ph.D. was Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of our board since the founding NPS in 1986 through 2006. Dr. Jackson is currently Executive Director, Technology Venture Development, University of Utah and Adjunct Professor of Management, David Eccles School of Business, University of Utah. Before founding NPS, he was an Associate Professor in the Department of Anatomy at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Dr. Jackson received a Ph.D. in Psychobiology from Yale University. He received postdoctoral training in the Department of Neurosurgery, University of Virginia Medical School.
James Groninger, Board Director, is CEO of LBS Technologies, Inc., a private biotechnology company focusing on RNA amplification and cellular therapy, and an investor in EPI's current Series A Preferred offering. Mr. Groninger founded and is President of The Bay South Company, a Richmond, Virginia-based provider of financial advisory and investment banking services. From 1988 through 1994, he served as a Managing Director, Investment Banking Division, of PaineWebber Inc., now UBS. Mr. Groninger is a member of the board of directors of NPS Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Cygne Designs, Inc., both publicly held companies, and LBS Technologies. Mr. Groninger received an M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School and a B.S. from Yale University. He is a CPA and a CFA.

Dr. Kuhla has served as a director since 1991. From 1998 through January 2004, Dr. Kuhla was president and chief operating officer of Albany Molecular Research, Inc., a chemical contract research organization, which Dr. Kuhla continues to serve as a director. From 1994 through 1998 Dr. Kuhla was vice president of Plexus Ventures, Inc., a business consulting firm. From 1990 to 1994, Dr. Kuhla held senior management positions with two venture capital-backed, biotechnology startup companies. His early career was spent in research and development and operations management positions with Pfizer Inc. and Rorer Group, Inc., his last position at Rorer being senior vice president of operations. Dr. Kuhla is a director of Synthetech Inc., a pharmaceutical fine chemical company. Dr. Kuhla received a Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry from Ohio State University.
Michael W. Bonney has served as our President and Chief Executive Officer and as a member of the Board of Directors since June 2003. From January 2002 to June 2003, he served as our President and Chief Operating Officer. From 1995 to 2001, he held various positions of increasing responsibility at Biogen, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company, including Vice President, Sales and Marketing from 1999 to 2001. While at Biogen, Mr. Bonney built the commercial infrastructure for the launch of Avonex. Prior to that, Mr. Bonney held various positions of increasing responsibility in sales, marketing and strategic planning at Zeneca Pharmaceuticals, ending his eleven-year career there serving as National Business Director. Mr. Bonney received a B.A. in Economics from Bates College. Mr. Bonney is a director of NPS Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company, and serves on the Boards of Trustees of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Bates College. Mr. Bonney is also a member of the Biotechnology Industry Organization, or BIO, Health Section Governing Body.
Peter Tombros has served as a Board Director since 1998 and in January 2008 was appointed Chairman. Previously, he served as Lead Director since May 2006. Since 2005, Mr. Tombros has served as Professor and executive in residence in the Eberly College of Science B.S./M.B.A. Program at Pennsylvania State University. Formerly, he was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of VivoQuest, a private biopharmaceutical company. From 1994 until June 2001, Mr. Tombros served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Enzon Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a publicly held biopharmaceutical company. Prior to joining Enzon, Mr. Tombros spent 25 years with Pfizer Inc., a global healthcare company in a variety of senior management positions including Vice President of Marketing, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Roerig Pharmaceuticals Division, Executive Vice President of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals Division, Director of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals Division, Vice President of Corporate Strategic Planning, and Vice President, Corporate Officer, Pfizer Inc. Ms. Selisker has served as a director since January 2005. Ms. Selisker is president of Seamark Advisors LLC and has provided financial consulting and appraisal services in the healthcare sector since June 2007. She served from March 2006 to June 2007 as chief financial officer of AAIPharma Inc., a privately held contract research organization. From January 2001 to March 2006 she served as a managing director in the Raleigh, North Carolina office of Thompson Clive & Partners Inc., a venture capital firm based in London, where she focused on the life sciences sector. She served from July 1987 to February 2000 as the chief financial officer, and from February 2000 to January 2001 as senior vice president, global shared services, of Quintiles Transnational Corp., a publicly held global contract research organization. Ms. Selisker also served as director of Quintiles Transnational Corp. from November 1995 to February 2000. Ms. Selisker was a supervisor and staff accountant with the national accounting firm of Oppenheim, Appel, Dixon & Co. in Raleigh, North Carolina, from 1981 to 1987. She is a certified public accountant with extensive public accounting experience from 1976, when she graduated with her accounting degree from Wake Technical College in Raleigh, North Carolina until 1987, when she joined Quintiles.
Dr. Broom has been a director since July 2009. Since May 2004, he has served as vice president and chief scientific officer of ViroPharma Incorporated, a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the development and commercialization of products that address serious diseases treated by physician specialists and in hospital setting. At ViroPharma, Dr. Broom is responsible for the leadership of all research and development and medical affairs activities. Prior to ViroPharma, Dr. Broom served as vice president of clinical development and medical affairs, Europe, for Amgen. Previously, he was vice president of clinical development for Hoechst Marion Roussel (now sanofi-aventis) and for 14 years worked for Glaxo and then SmithKline Beecham (now GlaxoSmithKline) in a range of leadership positions of increasing responsibility, including head of global oncology and vice president of CNS/GI. Dr. Broom holds a bachelor of science degree in pharmacology from University College, London and a bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery degree from St. George's Hospital Medical School, London. He is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine of the UK Colleges of Physicians.

Joseph Klein, III , age 46, has served as a Director of Isis since December 2005. Mr. Klein is currently Managing Director of Gauss Capital Advisors, LLC, a financial consulting and investment advisory firm focused on biopharmaceuticals, which he founded in March 1998. In addition to his investment advisory and financial consulting activities, Mr. Klein currently serves as a Venture Partner of Red Abbey Venture Partners, LP, a life sciences private equity fund. From September 2001 to September 2002, Mr. Klein was a Venture Partner of MPM Capital, a healthcare venture capital firm. From June 1999 to September 2000 when it merged with WebMD Corporation, Mr. Klein served as Vice President, Strategy for Medical Manager Corporation, a leading developer of physician office management information systems. Sandy Costa became affiliated with Maupin Taylor after many years of experience in executive and senior operating management roles for a major international business service provider, and senior counsel and senior executive roles for a major international pharmaceutical company both during periods of explosive growth. Firm clients benefit from his diversity in not only transactional but also regulatory and legal matters pertaining to the biomedical and pharmaceutical industries. Sandy joined Quintiles Transnational Corporation as President and Chief Operating Officer in April 1994 at the time of its initial public offering. He was named Vice Chairman in 1999 and retired from the Board in June 2001. As President and COO, Mr. Costa had responsibility for all operating divisions, as well as worldwide business development. In his tenure as President, the company was transformed from a contract research organization to a fully integrated worldwide service company and the market leader in its industry. During his tenure, Quintiles' annual revenues rose from $90 million to $1.6 billion. Mr. Costa oversaw the successful integration of over 40 acquisitions ranging in value up to $1.7 billion. He also saw the company's employee base increase from 1,000 to 20,000. Prior to joining Quintiles, Mr. Costa spent 23 years in the pharmaceutical industry. He was Senior Vice President, Administration and General Counsel at Glaxo Inc., where he sat on the company's Board of Directors and was deeply involved in managing Glaxo's growth. Prior to joining Glaxo, Mr. Costa was U.S. area counsel for Merrell Dow Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Costa started his career as food and drug counsel for Norwich/Easton Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Costa sits on the Board of Directors of NPS Pharmaceuticals, CV Therapeutics, Digiscripts and Constella Group, and is Chairman of NeuroMedix and Labopharm, Inc. He also sits on the Board of Advisors of the North Carolina Outward Bound School, the Duke Brain Tumor Advisory Committee, the Duke University Medical Center Board of Visitors and the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program Board. Mr. Costa is an Adjunct Professor in the clinical research program at the Campbell University School of Pharmacy.
Santo J. Costa has been Of Counsel at the law firm Maupin Taylor, P.A. since June 2001. Prior to joining Maupin Taylor, Mr. Costa served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Quintiles Transnational Corporation from April 1994 to November 1999. He served as Vice Chairman of Quintiles from December 1999 to May 2001. As President and Chief Operating Officer of Quintiles, Mr. Costa had responsibility for all operating divisions, as well as worldwide business development. Prior to joining Quintiles, Mr. Costa spent 23 years in the pharmaceutical industry. Mr. Costa served as Senior Vice President, Administration and General Counsel of Glaxo Inc. from 1986 to 1993. Prior to joining Glaxo, Mr. Costa was U.S. area counsel for Merrell Dow from 1977 to 1986. Mr. Costa sits on the board of directors of four publicly-traded companies, NPS Pharmaceuticals, Inc., CV Therapeutics Inc., Labopharm Inc., and NeuroMedix Inc. (of which he is Chairman of the board), and two privately-held companies, DigiScripts, Inc. and Constella Group, Inc. Mr. Costa is an adjunct professor in the clinical research program at the Campbell University School of Pharmacy. He also sits on The Duke Cancer Patient Support Program and the Duke University Medical Center Board of Visitors. Mr. Costa received his B.S. in pharmacy and his J.D. from St. John s University.
