Dr. Love served as Nuvelo’s president since January 2001, as its chief executive officer since March 2001, as a member of its board of directors since February 2001 and as chairman of its board of directors since September 2005. Dr. Love served as Nuvelo’s president and chief operating officer from January 2001 until March 2001. Prior to joining Nuvelo, Dr. Love served as senior vice president of development at Theravance Inc. from 1998 to 2001 and as a research physician and vice president of product development at Genentech from 1992 to 1998. Dr. Love also serves as a member of the board of directors of Santarus, Inc., and Affymax, Inc. Dr. Love holds a B.A. in molecular biology from Haverford College and an M.D. from Yale Medical School.

Dr. Levy came to Nuvelo from Tularik Inc. (acquired by Amgen, Inc.) where he served as vice president of development and chief medical officer. While at Tularik, Dr. Levy created and built a new development organization and directed the clinical development of seven novel drugs across three therapeutic areas: oncology, metabolic disease and inflammation/immunology. Prior to joining Tularik, Dr. Levy spent 12 years at GlaxoSmithKline Inc. (GSK) in Canada, where he held several positions including his final role as senior vice president of R&D and chief medical officer. While at GSK, he had dual responsibilities for supporting global drug development and the Canadian commercial business. Dr. Levy earned his B.A., M.A. and M.D. at Cambridge University, U.K. He undertook his surgical residency at the Mayo Clinic and received the distinction of being elected a Fellow of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians.

Mr. Bendekgey brings to Nuvelo more than 20 years of legal, finance and business development experience. Prior to joining Nuvelo, he spent six years at Incyte Corporation where he held several executive positions, including executive vice president, general counsel, acting chief financial officer and acting general manager of information business. Mr. Bendekgey had an essential role at Incyte, managing acquisitions, equity and debt offerings, patents and licensing, as well as leading Incyte's government relations strategy. From 1993 to 1997, Mr. Bendekgey worked for Silicon Graphics, Inc. in Mountain View, Calif. where he held a variety of legal and alliance management positions, helping the company to negotiate and maintain strategic relationships and providing legal support to all product divisions. Prior to his time at Silicon Graphics, he served as a partner at Graham & James (now Squire Sanders & Dempsey) where he specialized in intellectual property, corporate and commercial law and founded the firm's Palo Alto, California office. Mr. Bendekgey graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts degree from Kalamazoo College and received his juris doctorate from Stanford University.

Mr. Yedinak came to Nuvelo from Amgen (formerly Abgenix) where he served most recently as vice president, manufacturing, facilities and engineering. In that position, he was responsible for directing the clinical and commercial manufacturing facilities and engineering operations at sites in Fremont, California and Vancouver, British Columbia, and played a pivotal role in managing the Chemistry Manufacturing and Controls section of multiple U.S. and global regulatory submissions, including the Biologics License Application for Abgenix's lead product candidate, panitumumab. Previously, he spent 15 years at Genentech, where he had various roles in the manufacturing of more than 20 marketed products and product candidates. He received a bachelor's degree in biological sciences from the University of California, Irvine.

Dr. Zitnik came to Nuvelo after four years at Amgen, where he served most recently as senior director and therapeutic area head for osteoporosis, responsible for oversight of an ongoing global registrational clinical development program. Earlier in his tenure at Amgen he was global development team leader for dermatology and director in the inflammation therapeutic area, where he designed and implemented a clinical program that led successfully to U.S. and European approval for the use of Enbrel(R) (etanercept) in psoriasis. From 2000 to 2002, he was medical director, clinical development at Immunex, where he led clinical research programs in rheumatology, asthma and dermatology, until Immunex was acquired by Amgen in 2002. Prior to that, he held management positions in clinical research at Pfizer and at Bayer, where he was responsible for cardiovascular, pulmonary and oncology studies. Before joining the industry, Dr. Zitnik completed his residency in internal medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital, then trained as a fellow and was subsequently a member of the faculty in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Yale University.

Ms. Guyer, who has more than 17 years of experience in healthcare banking and management, joined Nuvelo from JPMorgan Securities, where she most recently served as vice president of Health Care Banking for the West Coast and was responsible for financings for a variety of mid and small cap life science companies. During the acquisition of Hambrecht & Quist (H&Q) by Chase and the merger with JPMorgan, Ms. Guyer served in several internal capacities for the Investment Banking Division. Prior to that, she was vice president and principal in Investment Banking at H&Q. Ms. Guyer received an M.B.A. from the Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.A. summa cum laude from Princeton University.

Barry L. Zubrow is the Chief Risk Officer and Executive Vice President of JPMorgan Chase and a member of the Operating Committee. Zubrow also serves as Chairman of the New Jersey Schools Development Authority, which is responsible for an $8.6 billion effort to rebuild the state’s schools infrastructure, and advises Governor Jon Corzine on a broad range of fiscal and policy matters.
In 2004, Zubrow left Goldman Sachs after a 26-year career there. He served as the firm’s chief administrative officer, headed its operations and administration division, and co-headed the operations, finance and resources division. Zubrow co-chaired the firm’s risk committee, chaired the space and credit committees, and served on the partnership, commitments and finance and technology advisory committees. He also served as a director of Goldman Sachs International Corp. From 1994 to 1999, Zubrow was the firm’s chief credit officer. Before that, he was a partner in the investment banking division, where he provided strategic and corporate financing advice to major Fortune 100 companies.
Zubrow is co-chairman of the board of managers of Haverford College and a member of the board of directors of The Pingry School in Martinsville, NJ, the Juvenile Law Center in Philadelphia, PA and Temple Har Shalom in Warren, NJ.
Zubrow received his BA from Haverford College in 1975, an MBA in 1979 from the University of Chicago Business School and his JD in 1980 from the University of Chicago Law School.
He resides in New Jersey with his wife, Jan, and their two sons.
