Fred Tomczyk is a 20-year veteran of the financial services industry with extensive expertise in wealth management, retail distribution and sales and has been a guiding force in the Company's evolution from brokerage firm to the investment firm of choice for American families.
Tomcyzk's vision for TD AMERITRADE is threefold – maintain a leadership position in the trading business, continue to grow as an asset gatherer and capitalize on additional opportunities to strengthen the firm for the benefit of its associates, clients and shareholders.
Tomczyk has been intimately involved with the Company for nearly four years, helping negotiate and shape the landmark deal that brought Ameritrade and TD Waterhouse together in 2005. Prior to joining the Company in 2007, Tomczyk served as the vice chairman of corporate operations for TD Bank Financial Group (TDBFG), a position he had held since June 2002. He also held a number of executive roles for Canada Trust, which later became TD Canada Trust.
Tomczyk's previous positions with TD Bank included executive vice president of core and small business banking, executive vice president of core banking and wealth management and executive vice president of retail distribution, where he successfully led the branch networks of TD Bank and Canada Trust through the merger to become TD Canada Trust.
Prior to joining Canada Trust, Tomczyk was the president and chief executive officer of London Life. He left following the sale of the company to Great West Lifeco in 1998 and subsequently joined Canada Trust.
He is a member of Cornell University's Undergraduate Business Program Advisory Council, a director on the boards of Robarts Research Institute, Meloche Monnex Inc. and Symcor Inc. He is also the senior vice-chairman of the executive committee for the Canadian Bankers Association.
