Douglas W. Stotlar is president and chief executive officer of Con-way Inc. (NYSE:CNW), a $5 billion freight transportation and logistics services company headquartered in San Mateo, Calif. Con-way delivers industry-leading services through its primary operating companies of Con-way Freight, Menlo Worldwide Logistics and Con-way Truckload. These operating units provide high-performance, day-definite less-than-truckload (LTL), full truckload and intermodal freight transportation; logistics, warehousing and supply chain management services; and trailer manufacturing. Con-way Inc. and its subsidiaries operate from more than 450 operating locations across North America and in 17 countries across five continents.
As the company’s top executive, Mr. Stotlar is responsible for the overall management and performance of the company. He was named to his current position in April 2005.
Mr. Stotlar previously served as president and chief executive officer of Con-Way Transportation Services, Inc. (less-than-truckload business unit, renamed Con-way Freight in 2006). Appointed to this position in 2004, he was responsible for the day-to-day management and long-term strategic planning of a company operating a network of regional trucking units throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. He also directed the company’s non-asset based business units, Con-Way NOW, Con-Way Logistics, and Con-Way Air.
Before being named head of Con-way, Mr. Stotlar served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Con-way Transportation Services (CTS), a position he had held since June 2002. From 1997 to 2002, he was executive vice president of operations for CTS. Prior to joining the CTS corporate office, Mr. Stotlar served as vice president and general manager of Con-Way NOW after drafting and executing the strategic business plan for the company in 1996.
Mr. Stotlar joined the Con-way organization in 1985 as a freight operations supervisor for Con-Way Central Express (CCX — now known as Con-way Freight), one of the company’s regional trucking subsidiaries. He subsequently advanced to management posts in Columbus, Ohio; Fort Wayne, Ind.; and Milwaukee, Wis., where he was named northwest regional manager for 12 service centers.
A native of Newbury, Ohio, Mr. Stotlar earned his bachelor’s degree in transportation and logistics from Ohio State University. He serves as vice president at large and is a member of the executive committee of the American Trucking Associations, as well as a member of the board of directors for the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI). Mr. Stotlar is a member of the Business Roundtable and serves on the board of directors for URS Corporation, a San Francisco-based global engineering and design services firm.

Herb Schmidt is president of Con-way Truckload, Con-way’s truckload operation. Con-way Truckload is a leader in truckload and intermodal services throughout North America. Founded in 1951 with one tractor and two trailers, the company now operates over 2,600 tractors and more than 7,000 trailers, and serves shippers throughout the continent. Con-way Truckload was one of the first carriers to establish operations in Mexico and has been recognized for its excellence in export service. Con-way Truckload received the President’s “E” and “E-Star” Awards. The company is also ISO 9001-2000 certified.

As president of Con-way Truckload (formerly CFI), Herb Schmidt oversees the day-to-day operations of the company, including sales and marketing, operations, recruiting, finance, safety, information technology and fleet maintenance. Mr. Schmidt began his career in the transportation industry with United Parcel Service in operations and industrial engineering. He joined CFI in 1984 as the director of safety. During his tenure at CFI, he gained experience in the positions of vice president of administration, vice president of safety, senior vice president of operations, and senior vice president of sales and marketing. In 2000, the Board of Directors appointed him president, promoting him from the position of senior vice president of sales and marketing. In 2005, the Board of Directors appointed him chief executive officer.
With more than 25 years in the trucking industry, Mr. Schmidt is a respected leader in his field, lending his expertise and leadership to the American Trucking Association Tort Reform and Insurance Task Force and the Missouri State Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. He is the former president of the Truckload Carriers Association Safety Council and has served 11 years as the chairman of the Professional Truck Driving Institute of America, an independent body that certifies professional driving schools throughout the country.
In 1978, Mr. Schmidt graduated summa cum laude from Missouri Southern State College in Joplin, Mo., with a bachelor of science degree in political science. During his time as a student at Missouri Southern, he was actively involved in the Young Republicans Club, as well as a member of the varsity tennis team. Mr. Schmidt is based out of Con-way Truckload's headquarters in Joplin, Mo.

Named to his current position in June 2005, Mr. Kowalski previously served as chief operating officer of the Menlo Automotive Group (MAG), a division of Menlo Worldwide Logistics that focuses on the special supply chain and logistics needs of the global automotive industry. He had held that position since February 2005.
An executive with more than 25 years of experience in logistics and manufacturing management, Mr. Kowalski previously served as president and chief executive officer of Vector SCM, a joint venture between General Motors (GM) and Menlo Worldwide Logistics that serves as GM’s lead logistics manager worldwide. He had held that position since the company’s formation in 2000.
Previously, Mr. Kowalski served as vice president of Emery Worldwide, CNF’s former global heavyweight air cargo subsidiary. In that capacity, he led the startup of the company’s priority mail operations under contract with the U.S. Postal Service and was responsible for the planning, implementation and operations of the project’s 10 priority mail processing centers. He also served as Emery Worldwide’s vice president, strategic planning and quality in charge of the company’s internal logistics and responsible for monitoring on-time delivery performance, evaluating air routing and commercial airline cargo space purchases, and implementing ISO 9002 certification criteria for Emery’s operations worldwide.
Before joining Emery, Mr. Kowalski was an executive at GM in Michigan. In that capacity, he was responsible for overseeing logistics activities for all of the company’s North American supply chain operations. He also held management positions at GM in quality, materials, manufacturing, international sales, business development and business planning.
Mr. Kowalski is a native of Rochester, New York; he holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting from the Rochester Institute of Technology and an MBA from the William E. Simon School at the University of Rochester. Mr. Kowalski maintains an office at Menlo Worldwide Logistics’ corporate headquarters in San Mateo, Calif.

Jacquelyn A. Barretta, is vice president and chief information officer for Con-way Inc. Named to her current position in January 2005, Ms. Barretta has management responsibility for the company’s information systems and technology infrastructure. She also provides strategic oversight for the direction, coordination and deployment of its information systems.
Ms. Barretta previously served as vice president of information systems for Con-Way Transportation Services (CTS), now known as Con-way Freight, Con-way’s $3 billion less-than-truckload freight subsidiary. She was responsible for establishing the information technology (IT) vision for Con-way and running a development organization to execute that vision.
An executive with more than 20 years of experience in computer systems development and implementation, Ms. Barretta was a member of the Con-way IT department since the early stages of its creation. She joined the company in 1996 as a systems analyst responsible for several major systems development efforts, and was instrumental in the formation of the department and its infrastructure. She was promoted to director of information systems in 1997 and received the vice president title in 2000.
Before joining Con-way, Ms. Barretta served as a development manager at PacifiCorp Inc., where she was responsible for the implementation of a customer service system that included all customer maintenance, billing and collections functions. Prior to that, she was senior consultant with Deloitte Haskins & Sells. In that capacity, she implemented computer systems for the U.S. Air Force, Los Angeles County and several major Northwest utilities.
Ms. Barretta is a native of Meadville, Pa., holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and is a member of the CIO Executive Board. She also serves on the advisory boards of Teradata, CXO Media’s CIO Executive Council, and the Oregon CIO Summit. Mr. Bruffett joined the Con-way organization in September 2008. A 16-year veteran of the freight transportation industry, he previously worked for YRC Worldwide, a national trucking concern, where he had been chief financial officer.
Mr. Bruffett started his trucking industry career in 1992 as director of Finance for LTL carrier American Freightways in his hometown of Harrison, Arkansas. Six years later he was recruited by the YRC organization, joining the company as director of financial planning and analysis for the then-Yellow Freight unit. Over the next 10 years he advanced through a series of increasingly responsible positions at Yellow, its sister companies and the parent company, including management roles in finance and accounting, operations, investor relations, sales and marketing. He became named YRC Worldwide's CFO in late 2007.
A graduate of the University of Arkansas, Mr. Bruffett earned his bachelor's degree in finance and banking in 1986. After working as a stock broker in Dallas, he returned to school, earning his MBA from the University of Texas in 1990. He is based at Con-way's Ann Arbor, Michigan office.

As Con way Freight's senior operating executive, Mr. Lehmkuhl is responsible for strategic planning and execution of Con-way Freight's operating network, process design, analysis and implementation; network configuration and production efficiency. He also directs related change management, employee engagement and leadership development activities in the operations area designed to enhance the end-to-end customer experience. He reports to John G. Labrie, Con-way Freight's president.
Mr. Lehmkuhl joined Con-way Freight in August 2008 from sister company Menlo Worldwide Logistics. As vice president of Menlo's Automotive Industry Group (AIG), he oversaw global strategic development, solution engineering and implementation, sales, pricing, customer service and account management. Over a seven-year tenure, he directed AIG's growth from start-up to over 1,000 employees serving a diverse group of automotive manufacturing and supplier customers with logistics and transportation management operations across the United States and 13 countries worldwide. He also was instrumental in Menlo's adoption of Lean methodologies for continuous improvement, since 2003 leading the design and transformation at Menlo of customer and employee engagement programs to adopt Lean operating processes and practices.
Before joining Menlo in 2001 as director of operations, Mr. Lehmkuhl spent several years in global logistics and operations management with Delphi Automotive Systems. For Delphi, he managed transportation, warehousing and customs brokerage for a $13 billion manufacturing operation spanning 65 plants in 26 countries. Prior to Delphi he worked for Penske Logistics, where he launched Penske's first automotive lean logistics operation, and later was a line manager in engineering and logistics planning for the company's largest automotive customer.
He is a graduate of Michigan State University, Lansing, Mich., where he earned a bachelor's degree in business with emphasis on materials and logistics management. He subsequently earned his MBA from Oakland University in Rochester, Mich.
Mr. Lehmkuhl also is a 2004 recipient of the prestigious Raymond F. O'Brien Award of Excellence, an honor conferred upon exceptional employees by the then-CNF organization for leadership and professional accomplishment. Today, the tradition of the O'Brien award is carried on in the Con-way organization as the Con-way CEO Constellation Award.

Jennifer W. Pileggi is senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary of Con-way Inc. Ms. Pileggi started her career in 1996 as the first attorney for Menlo Worldwide’s logistics subsidiary, Menlo Logistics, which manages a full range of logistics activities in the United States and internationally for companies primarily in the automotive, technology, manufacturing, food and beverage, consumer product and retail industries. Ms. Pileggi was promoted to vice president and corporate counsel of Menlo Logistics in 1999.
An attorney with almost 18 years of experience in corporate law, Ms. Pileggi started her legal career in 1990 with Heller, Ehrman, White and McAuliffe in San Francisco, Calif. As a business associate, she represented investment advisers and worked on stock and limited partnership offerings. In 1992, she joined Marron, Reid & Sheehy in San Francisco as a business associate representing small and mid-sized companies in general business and real estate matters.
Ms. Pileggi is a native of New York and earned a bachelor’s degree in art history from Yale University, where she graduated with honors. She earned her JD degree from the New York University School of Law and is a member of the American Bar Association and the California State Bar Association. Dave Miller, a 34-year veteran of the freight trucking industry, is Vice President, Global Policy and Economic Sustainability for Con-way Inc. In this role, he is responsible for directing all of Con-way’s strategies and programs related to legislative, regulatory, public policy and corporate sustainability affairs at local, state, national and international levels.
Mr. Miller was named the company’s top policy executive in 2008, joining the corporate executive staff from Con-way Freight, the company’s less-than-truckload motor carrier and largest subsidiary, where since 2007 he served as chief operating officer. He reports to Douglas W. Stotlar, Con-way’s president and CEO.
A 25-year Con-way employee, over his career Mr. Miller has contributed regularly as an industry subject matter expert to legislative and regulatory policy-making activities involving all modes of the transportation sector. As a line operating executive, he has represented Con-way’s interests in testimony before Presidential commissions, and has served as the company’s executive representative with the American Trucking Associations, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other trade groups. He also has led, and continues to lead, the company’s programs and advocacy efforts promoting increased employer support for military veterans, the National Guard and Reserves.
Mr. Miller started his trucking industry career in 1972, joining Con-way in 1983 as a freight operations supervisor in Cincinnati, Ohio. He subsequently was promoted to service center manager, then region manager before being named director of quality in 1996, and vice president and director of strategic planning in 2000, based in Ann Arbor. In 2003 he was promoted to president of Con-way Southern Express, one of Con-way’s three regional LTL carriers, in Fort Worth, Texas. He subsequently returned to Ann Arbor in 2005 to become president of Con-way Central Express, the company’s largest regional LTL operation. He became chief operating officer for the overall Con-way Freight organization in 2007.
Among his professional affiliations, Mr. Miller is a member of the American Trucking Associations’ Cross-Border Operations Policy Committee and its Highway Policy Committee. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, serving on the Board’s policy committees for Environment & Energy and Regulatory Affairs, and is a member of the Chamber’s National Security and Emergency Preparedness Department. Mr. Miller also is a member of the Transportation Research Board’s (TRB) Trucking Industry Research Committee. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mr. Miller attended the University of Cincinnati. He is a graduate of the executive management program at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Patrick J. Fossenier is vice president of investor relations for Con-way Inc. (NYSE:CNW), a $5 billion freight transportation and logistics services company headquartered in San Mateo, Calif. Mr. Fossenier served as director of investor relations for CNF (now known as Con-way) from 1996 to 2000, when he left to pursue an opportunity with a computer hardware and software company. He returned to CNF in 2002 and was promoted to vice president in 2006. He is responsible for communications with Wall Street securities analysts, and with institutional and individual investors.
Mr. Fossenier began his career with the Con-way organization in 1985 as an accounting manager for one of the company’s subsidiaries. He moved to the parent company in 1987 as a financial analyst and was promoted to manager of investor relations in 1993.
Mr. Fossenier is a native of Grand Junction, Colo. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Colorado State University and an MBA from Golden Gate University. He is a member and former chapter vice president of the National Investor Relations Institute. Mr. Fossenier is based at Con-way’s headquarters in San Mateo, Calif.

As vice president of operations for Con-way Truckload, Saul Gonzalez is responsible for the transport carrier and logistics relations with Mexican carriers and freight forwarders at the United States/Mexico border, CFI Logistica based in Guadalajara, Mexico, and regional transport sales. With over 15 years of service with Con-way Truckload, he has been actively involved in strategic planning, sales and operations.
Gonzalez began his career in the transportation industry over 25 years ago, working with Danny Herman Trucking as a sales manager in El Paso, Texas. After relocating to Laredo, Texas, as the director of sales, he joined Con-way Truckload in 1991 as the sales and operations manager. During his tenure at Con-way Truckload, he has been located in Joplin, Missouri, and Guadalajara, Mexico, as director of sales and later as vice president-Mexican Carrier Relations.
With Gonzalez’s support, the Mexico division has grown to 40% of Con-way Truckload’s total revenues. Con-way Truckload now operates over 2,700 tractors and more than 8,600 trailers and delivers industry leading full truckload service to shippers in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Con-way Truckload was one of the first carriers to establish truckload operations in Mexico and has been recognized for its excellence in export service; Con-way Truckload received the President’s “E” and “E-Star” Awards. The company is also ISO 9001-2000 certified.
Gonzalez attended the University of Texas at El Paso. He is based out of Con-way Truckload’s headquarters in Joplin, Mo.

Robert L. Bianco, Jr. is a senior vice president of Con-way Inc. and president of Menlo Worldwide Logistics, LLC, a $1.5 billion global provider of logistics, transportation management and supply chain services. An executive with nearly 20 years of experience in the logistics industry, Mr. Bianco joined the CNF organization in 1989 as a management trainee. In 1992, he was named logistics manager for Menlo Logistics, and was responsible for implementing and managing supply chain solutions for customers in the hi-tech industry. Mr. Bianco began his career as a logistics officer in the U.S. Army. Stationed in Europe, he was responsible for the transportation of supplies to combat units in Europe.
Mr. Bianco is a member of the Council of Logistics Management. He is a native of San Francisco, Calif., and earned a bachelor's degree in history from the University of California at Santa Barbara, and a master's degree from the University of San Francisco. Mr. Anton was raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame (B.S., Chemistry). Mr. Anton has enjoyed a successful career as an operating executive and private investor in the food, consumer products and specialty ingredient industries. Mr. Anton began his career with Ralston Purina and later joined Nabisco Brands Corporation, spending nearly 20 years in various management and executive roles between the two companies. In 1983, Mr. Anton left Nabisco and founded Carlin Foods Corporation, a national food ingredient company serving the dairy, baking and food service industries, where he served as Chairman and co-owner from 1983 to 1990; and from 1990 to 1992 as Chairman of Carlin Investment Corporation, which was created to invest in food and specialty chemical firms. In 1992, Mr. Anton led the acquisition of Ghirardelli Chocolate Company. As Chairman, CEO and co-owner of Ghirardelli, Mr. Anton was responsible for revitalizing the company's brand, marketing programs and growth prior to transitioning Ghiradelli to its new ownership. In 2001, Mr. Anton joined Fremont Partners, a private equity management firm, as Senior Advisory Director, where he was instrumental in the acquisition and successful divestiture of Specialty Brands Inc. Mr. Anton served as an infantry officer in Vietnam, earning a Bronze Star for valor during combat operations. He serves on the CNF Inc. Board of Directors; the Advisory Boards of Notre Dame's College of Science and the University of San Francisco's Business School; as a Trustee to the Schools of the Sacred Heart, San Francisco; and as a past Trustee to the Allendale Association, a Chicago-based school for abused children. He is also a member of the World Presidents Organization.

Michael Murray is a member of the Calera Capital Advisory Board. Mr. Murray, age 64, retired in July 2000 as President of Global Corporate and Investment Banking of Bank of America Corporate and as a member of the corporation's Policy Committee. From March 1997 to the BankAmerica-Nations Bank merger in September 1998, Mr. Murray headed BankAmerica Corporation's Global Wholesale Bank and was responsible for its business with large corporate, international, and government clients around the world. Mr. Murray was named a BankAmerica Vice Chairman and Head of the U.S. and International Groups in September 1995. He had been responsible for BankAmerica's U.S. Corporate Group since BankAmerica's merger with Continental Bank Corporation in September 1994. Prior to the BankAmerica-Continental merger, Mr. Murray was Vice Chairman and Head of Corporate Banking for Continental Bank, which he joined in 1969. Mr. Murray is a member of the Board of Directors of the eLoyalty Corporation in Lake Forest, Illinois. He is past Chairman of the United Way of the Bay Area. Mr. Murray is also on the Board of the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco and is a member of the Advisory Council for the College of Business of the University of Notre Dame.
