Dow Jones Description
The Connecticut Water Company was created in 1956 through the merger of the Guilford-Chester and Naugatuck water companies. Immediately after its incorporation, The Connecticut Water Company acquired the water utility holdings of the Connecticut Light & Power Company in East Windsor, Enfield, Stafford, Suffield, and Windsor Locks. By the end of 1956, The Connecticut Water Company served about 75,000 people in 16 Connecticut towns through 20,500 service connections. Although Connecticut Water Co. was incorporated in 1956, the traditions of the Company date back to 12 years before the Civil War in 1849, when the oldest water system in our franchise was formed. And in 1866, the Rockville Water and Aqueduct Company was created to provide the residents and mills of Rockville with a reliable supply of high quality water. Today The Connecticut Water Company remains committed to providing customers with quality water and service. Through growth in its service areas and numerous acquisitions of other water utilities, The Connecticut Water Company now serves nearlly 300,000 people in 54 Connecticut towns through 86,000 service connections.
