Mr. Summers directs Optram's business and corporate development planning and management activities. Mr. Summers is a Partner with Garofalo & Associates LLC, an investment-banking advisory firm located in Boston, MA that provides specialized corporate development and investment banking services to small and medium size companies. Dr. James P. Hyslip has over 16 years of operating experience in railroad engineering and geotechnical consulting. His background includes front-line supervision at the Consolidated Rail Corporation (Conrail) for production (tie, surface and switch gangs), special project (improved clearance), and divisional work. He also was also Conrail's Engineer of Soil Mechanics. Dr. Hyslip was Project Engineer in geotechnical consulting with GeoMechanics, Inc. (Pittsburgh, PA) where he was responsible for a wide range of geotechnical projects. Dr. Hyslip currently conducts investigations and analyses to determine solutions to railway track substructure condition deterioration and promotes the latest technology in maintenance management of the track substructure. Dr. Hyslip holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Bucknell University, a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts. His doctoral work focused on track geometry modeling for maintenance planning and condition assessment. Dr. Hyslip is a member of American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) Committee 1, Secretary of US Transportation Research Board Committee on Railway Track Maintenance, and is a registered Professional Engineer.
