Matt?s ability to target issues and focus energy behind objectives has earned a place for him as a valued legal and business advisor for his clients. Matt draws on years of experience in representing businesses and individuals in a variety of domestic and international transactions, and it is this experience that allows Matt to advise clients on how to cut through complex matters and achieve the desired results with an acceptable level of risk. Matt has sharpened his skills in several roles that give him a unique business perspective. Prior to joining Cors & Bassett, Matt served as senior attorney for Kao Brands Company, a leading premium beauty care product manufacturer with operations worldwide. In that role, Matt was responsible for advising business units located in the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain, the United Arab Emirates, and Australia on transactions involving those countries and more than thirty others on issues including entity formation, merger and acquisition, product distribution, marketing and advertising, competition law, intellectual property, tax, and real estate. Before that, Matt practiced law with firms in Cincinnati for nearly ten years, representing privately held and several publicly held clients on a variety of business, securities, tax, and real estate issues. It was through these roles that Matt developed a keen understanding of how to work with clients not only to provide answers but also to provide solutions. Matt?s commitment and dedication has also gained the attention of his peers, both outside and inside the legal community. In 1999, Matt was elected to serve more than 170,000 Kent State University alumni worldwide as a member of the Kent State University Alumni Association National Board of Directors. Matt?s leadership of the Board on a number of strategic planning, education, and fundraising issues translated into the Board electing Matt to serve as its President from 2003-2004. Within the legal community, Matt has served in the past as Chairs of Cincinnati Bar Association Corporate and Securities Law Committee as well as the Cincinnati Bar Association Corporate Counsel Committee. In law school at the University of Cincinnati, Matt was elected as a member of the University of Cincinnati Law Review. In his undergraduate studies at Kent State University, Matt graduated Summa Cum Laude and with University Honors and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Who?s Who in American Colleges and Universities 1991.
