Dr. Rumack is Chairman Emeritus and founder of Micromedex, Inc., a provider of computerized and printed information for professionals and consumers on toxicology, pharmacology, acute care, patient education, occupational medicine, alternative medicine, chemical safety, and regulatory compliance. In addition, Dr. Rumack is Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and a Special Government Employee for the Food and Drug Administration. He completed medical school at the University of Wisconsin and residency at the University of Colorado. He went on to do a fellowship in clinical pharmacology and toxicology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and was a clinical associate at the Regional Poisoning Treatment Center, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. He sits on the editorial boards of several journals, including Clinical Toxicology, Topics in Emergency Medicine, and Pediatric Pharmacology.

Dr. Constantine, a Professor Emeritus at the College of Pharmacy, Oregon State University, has extensive knowledge of natural products and herbal medicine. Dr. Constantine teaches continuing education programs to pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals throughout the United States and has lectured at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine and Western States Chiropractic College. A past-president of the American Society of Pharmacognosy, Dr. Constantine has authored 52 professional and scientific articles and currently is a reviewer for the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia. He is author of Tyler''s Tips-the Shopper''s Guide for Herbal Remedies (Haworth, 2000). Dr. Constantine is also the chair of the Naturopathic Formulary Council for the Board of Naturopathic Board of Examiners and co-founder of the Benton Hospice in Corvallis, Oregon.

Dr. Gerber is Associate Professor of Clinical Sciences at Western States Chiropractic College (WSCC) in Portland, Oregon, and also teaches postgraduate courses for several other colleges. He graduated from WSCC in 1981, received his master's degree in nutrition from the University of Bridgeport in 1986, and is board certified in nutrition and orthopedics. Dr. Gerber is the author of Handbook of Preventive and Therapeutic Nutrition (Aspen, 1993) and a contributor to Conservative Management of Sports Injuries (Williams & Wilkins, 1997). In addition to contributing to Healthnotes, he is the science advisor for the Healthnotes Newsletter.

Dr. Appleton is a licensed naturopathic physician, writer, and educator in the field of evidence-based complementary and alternative medicine. He received his bachelor's degree from Reed College and his doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM). Dr. Appleton completed a residency at Bastyr University of Natural Health Sciences, where he was also on faculty as an adjunct professor of orthopedics and clinical medicine. He has had private practices in Washington, Vermont, and Oregon, and has also worked in the nutritional supplement industry as a director of scientific and regulatory affairs. Dr. Appleton is currently Chair of the Nutrition department at NCNM. He has been a regular contributor to several Healthnotes publications, including Healthnotes Newswire, Healthnotes, Clinical Essentials, and Quick!Reference.

Dr. Clark is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Saskatchewan, where she is employed on a full-time basis. Dr. Clark is also an active member of the medical staff for the Saskatoon Regional Health Authority. She works primarily with adolescents, providing inpatient, outpatient, and emergency psychiatric care at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

Mr. Wall is the owner of Martin Wall Botanical Services, a company that supplies botanical images for educational and commercial use. As well as being included in many books, his images are regularly seen in Natural Pharmacy, Herbs for Health, Nutrition Science News, and many other magazines. Along with his wife, Deetra, Martin also directs the Southeastern School of Herbal Studies from his home base in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Dr. Patrice Burgess reviews medical content for Healthwise, a nonprofit organization with a mission to help people make better health decisions. Dr. Burgess is a family practice physician in Boise, Idaho, and is a part-time faculty member at the Family Practice Residency of Idaho. An accomplished instructor, Dr. Burgess received the Faculty Teacher of the Year Award for 1998 1999 and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Award in 1993. Dr. Burgess is a past president of the Idaho Medical Association and the current American Medical Association Delegate for Idaho. She also does some administrative work for Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. She assists the hospital with physician relations and the physician component of implementing an electronic health record. She has served as Associate Medical Director for Healthwise, Incorporated, since October 2000.

Dr. Rick Chester is a naturopathic physician, homeopath, acupuncturist, and pharmacist. He received his Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine degree from National College of Naturopathic Medicine in 1992 and his Masters in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the International Institute of Oriental Medicine. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from Oregon State University and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Oregon. Dr. Chester taught pharmacology, geriatric medicine, pulmonology, and practice management at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe Arizona. Dr. Chester is also a writer and Science Editor for Healthnotes, a consumer-oriented alternative medicine resource.

Robert A. Kloner, MD, PhD, is Professor of Medicine in the Cardiovascular Division, Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, in Los Angeles. He is also Director of Research at the Heart Institute of Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles and attending cardiologist at Los Angeles County/University of Southern California Medical Center. Dr Kloner received his MD in the honors program in medical education and his PhD from Northwestern University The Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, and is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital (formerly Peter Bent Brigham Hospital) in Boston, Massachusetts. Additional training included clinical and research fellowships in medicine and cardiology at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women's Hospital. He served as Assistant and then Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and as an attending cardiologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital. There he received the Established Investigator Award of the American Heart Association (AHA). Dr Kloner is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, an inaugural fellow of the Council on Basic Cardiovascular Sciences of the AHA, and was elected to the American Society of Clinical Investigation. A frequent contributor to the medical and scientific press, Dr Kloner has contributed 500 original papers, 196 chapters or monographs, and 410 abstracts. He is the author and editor of 18 medical texts, including Cardiovascular Trials Reviews (10 editions), The Guide to Cardiology, Stunned Myocardium, Ischemic Preconditioning, VIAGRA, and Heart Disease & Erectile Dysfunction and 3 novels titled The Beta Virus, Mind Cure, and The Deity Genes. Among his editorial responsibilities, Dr Kloner serves as Associate Editor of the Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology and Therapeutics and the International Journal of Impotence Research and is on the editorial boards of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Circulation, American Journal of Cardiology, American Journal of Geriatric Cardiology, Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, Heart, Heart Disease, Basic Research in Cardiology, and Regenerative Medicine. Among his many career distinctions, Dr Kloner has been listed in Who's Who in America and The Best Doctors in America and in 2002 was identified by the Institute for Scientific Information as ISI Highly cited.com; one of the world's most highly cited scientific authors.

Dr. Berkowitz is a specialist in gynecologic cancer who has devoted his career to teaching, writing and editing. He is William H. Baker Professor of Gynecology at Harvard Medical School and Co-Director of the New England Trophoblastic Disease Center. He has been affiliated with Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston since 1980 and was appointed Director of Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology in 1989. Dr. Berkowitz has served on the editorial board of Gynecologic Oncology and is an editorial consultant for the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Journal of Clinical Oncology, Cancer Research, Journal of Reproductive Medicine, Cancer Treatment Reports, New England Journal of Medicine, and Journal of Reproductive Immunology.
